Coffee at The Wasps Nest gym ...

Editorial by

Having coffee with Jason DeRothschild...

Over a cup of coffee and a stick of cigarette, I spent a monday morning chatting with Blackwater management and The Wasps Nest (2341) owner and head strategist Jason DeRothschild, We talked about the week past, and the three losses his team and himself went through.

We met up at The Wasps Nest early so i could get him before the busy day started.
As i entered his office the smell of Sumatran coffee was a welcoming sensation, since i had woke up early, This guys is an early bird.

Hello, Jason. How are you? How are the guys? ( referring to Omar, Jakod & Cantrells losses in their Ring Wars debut )
Jason: Hey, Grab a cup and let me pour you the best coffee you will ever taste.

He poured me a cup and began to talk.

Jason: Well you can imagine how i probably feel. My guys, sorry we just lost in our first fight in the org. and im kinda disappointed with their performance, but i know its not totally their fault.  We are a team and the blame goes to all the members. Actually i feel i should have done  more. There were things i could have done to maybe have made a difference in the outcome.

Like how?
Jason: Thought we had prepared for the fight with the right tactics, but it seemed our fight was one side, and predictable. I was so over confident we would blast our opponents out of the water but it seemed i miscalculated the outcome.

It seems youre taking way too much weight on your shoulders and that, that obligation shouldnt rest on one person.
Jason: Its my family. These guys are like my brothers, we train together, eat together, live and breath together. We enter the cage and go to war together. So yes their success and failures are my obligations. I put a lot in them and want to see them succeed. We started our own training facility just so we could make the most of training and tactics.

Thats heavy man. Do you feel that way in all the previous fights you had last week?
Jason: Yes. I feel that way always, If your brother went to war dont you think its personal?

Well youre right. Can you elaborate more on each of the past fights, Maybe what you could have done, or just your thoughts.
Jason: We already talked about the Cantrell fight and that was an eye opener, never would have thought that would happen. Thats pretty bad. We lasted 50 sec. and I was sure we would win.

As for Jakob, What people dont know is that Jakob is a really good friend of mine and that we’ve been friends since forever. And that loss, that was his first fight in the Org. It really hit me, us hard. See when we go into the cage we go to win and take home the Victory. We always have solid game plans.

Now “Oms” (Omar Torres) This kid has an awesome amateur record and for him to get sunday’d like that well im speechless. I cant even talk about it 29 sec. fight all we can do  is train harder and be smarter.

Well i have to get back to some business mate.

Ok then Jason, thanks for the time you had with us and the coffee.
Jason: Thanks. Any time. Bye

Well folks you’ve heard it here. The Wasps Nest is in shock, but it seems like they have a handle on things and that it’ll take a lot more then a bad week to put a organization like this down.

Again from The Wasps Nest gym, Wishing you MMA fight fans a great week and look forward to more exciting development and fights.

Good day Las Vegas !!!
