Omar Torres - IRON WILL ...

Editorial by

Its quiet here in The Wasps Nest gym (2341) the day after they received 3 losses and no one seems to want to talk. Its all business with the training,  but we were able to manage a brief interview with Omar Torres (178244).

Hello Omar, Thanks for giving us a bit of your time. It seems you’ve been hurt pretty badly after the fight, and were you expecting to be dealt something like that?
Torres: Yeah, the guys are just fired up and want to prove even more that we win fights. And that we are all great fighters. You see if one of us fails everyone does. Its the sort of family the Wasps Nest is. We really are all brothers in arms.

-Torres: No I was expecting to destroy him, I had come of an awesome amateur record and getting your ass whooped in your first Pro cage fight is very eye opening.

Have you heard any news or word from your sponsors about the loss?
Torres: Yeah, they have all been very supportive and want me to get back up on my feet, They all truly believe in me which is so awesome.

Do you feel you have or should have tried a different strategy for the fight. Maybe a different game plan?
Torres: We scout each fight and strategies for it weeks in advance, and even going into the last week or few days. We still tweak the plan. So no I think my team and I did and prepared the best way we could for the fight. Not to mention the best way.

What are you and your team doing right now to get over the loss?
Torres: Well, what do people do who want to get over losses. They get back up on their feet and move forward. They hit it even harder and with even more will power. Thats me, Thats my team. We learn, evolve, innovate, & get better. Thats the way we do it.

Do you feel that making the move to the pro ranks was a good move given your only 22 yours of age.
Torres: I think thats a really good age to turn pro, a lot of guys are older but i think i have the youth advantage going for me. Also my skills ...

You were hurt in the fight, has that affected your present training?
Torres: Yeah I got hurt in the fight but, that does not really effect training. Im still in the gym daily. I may be hurt but let me tell you I am coming back stronger, smarter, and a million times deadlier.

- Ok, last question. How do you feel about stepping into the big leagues, the pro arena and all the hoopla thats goes with it?

Torres: It feel good. I have always dreamed of being here, I always saw my self here and I am here to stay. I love all my sponsors. They have been very helpful and supportive, what ever i ask they are always there to help me out. My clothing sponsor UFG - Untouchable fight Gear (3147) have been very cool. They ask me for any cool ideas or designs i could see my self wearing. I love that interaction with sponsors and companies.

How about the Ring Wars contract signing?
Torres: Everything is good I guess. I know Jason, is in very good terms with Lyle - Lyle Humphreys (33988) but we heard the organization is under-going some changes, ownership wise. So we shall see. Maybe you should talk to Jason about that. Ok I gotta go. Thanks.

The interview ended as Omar had to get back to his training. Me coffee and pen in hand would just want to thank the Wasps Nest again and for always being so welcoming. Thanks guys.

So once again wishing everyone a fantastic week of MMA action have a wonderful day Las Vegas !!!
