Event Preview: DFL III: Christmas Day
Extreme MMA
2014-12-25, Hilo, Micro Arena - Hilo
Author:Mr Cropper

Ladies and Gentlemen, coming to you live from the Micro Arena in Hilo, Extreme MMA presents DFL III: Christmas Day! Shtaaf Reimish here to break down all the fights for you as the festive season is in the air! There are 6 big fights on tap headlined by a championship bout for the 135lb title between Max “Blessed Diamond” Kimura and Te Rauparaha. With a belt on the line and 5 other fights with future title shot implications we should be in for a fun Christmas Day fight night! Let’s get the previews started!

#11 Aiden “Aeneas” Sumerod (0-0-0) vs #10 Casey Bowman (0-1-0) 185lbs

The first tilt of the evening features two young fighters looking to get their EMMA careers off to the right start with a victory. 10th ranked Japanese born Casey Bowman comes to us after losing his pro debut in the QFC by a Kimura Submission. The Vegas based fighter has remarkable abilities standing up, but is a bit weaker when the fight heads to the mat. #11 ranked Aiden “Aeneas” Sumerod is making his debut in the professional world of MMA. The Irish born, Hilo based fighter has a superb skill set when he is on the ground, but what he has while wrestling, he lacks while standing up. This should be a great tilt for two rookies to make early impressions for a future title run. Sumerod by TKO.

#7 Eric “Bulder” Bazel Cadric (0-1-0) vs #4 Bear Trapp (0-0-0) 135lbs

The second fight of the evening features two young 135 pound fighters, and should be an interesting one to watch play out. Eric “Bulder” Bazel Cadric comes to EMMA after a loss in a QFC tournament bout in which he lost via a RNC Submission. Cadric is a phenomenal boxer, but really lacks every other area of MMA. Bear Trapp is making his pro debut here at DFL III. Fighting out of right here in Hilo, the Reno native presents an amazing Muay Thai skill set while still developing the other parts of his repertoire. Look for this fight to stay standing as neither fighter will want this fight to hit the mat. Trapp by KO.

#7 MadDog “Axe Murderer” McMahon (0-0-0) vs #11 Renee “Halo” LaFleur (0-1-1) 265lbs

Into the heavyweight division we go as both MadDog “Axe Murderer” McMahon and Renee “Halo” LaFleur look to get their EMMA careers off to a good start. McMahon, a Brazil native, comes to us as a fresh rookie looking to kick off his pro career with a win. Fighting out of Hilo, the 25-year-old will look to use his wrestling background to help him to victory. LaFleur has fought twice previously in the QFC, drawing his debut and losing his sophomore fight both by decision. The Clear Lake native has proven he can fight a full three rounds, but will he last that long against McMahon? Both fighters are exceptional boxers and wrestlers, so it should be a great fight. LaFleur by decision.

#8 Jeff “Pimpdaddy” Parker (0-0-0) vs #4 Larry “The Animal” Spizer (1-1-0) 265lbs

In the second of back-to-back heavyweight bouts on tonight’s card, Jeff “Pimpdaddy” Parker and Larry “The Animal” Spizer square off in another matchup of boxing and wrestling fortes. Spizer, a Texas native, has fought twice previously in the QFC, knocking out Edmund Becker in the second round and getting TKO’d in the first by Oooh Yeah. We know he has natural KO power, but after getting beat down in his last fight, his striking defense has come into question if the #4 ranked fighter wants to set up a future title attempt. Parker is making his pro debut here at DFL III, and will look to use his collegiate wrestling experience in the octagon tonight. The Newark, NJ native is training hard to prepare himself for whatever Spizer throws at him. Spizer by KO.

#4 Jesse “KO” Thunder (1-1-0) vs #5 Galactor “Gladiator” Gigantus (0-0-0) 265+lbs

In the second to last bout of the evening, we present to you a superheavyweight tilt featuring Jesse “KO” Thunder and Galactor “Gladiator” Gigantus in a bout that could have future title fight implications. We last saw Thunder getting submitted via the Kimura 28 seconds into Round 1 by Steven Parker in DFL I. The Brian, Texas native will look to use his boxing prowess to get back in the win column here against Gigantus. Gigantus, coming to EMMA from the jungles of Zaire, will look to use his size advantage in his pro debut. While this is his debut fight, the sheer size of Gigantus will place the Hilo based fighter in good position to stay in it with Thunder. However I have to go with Thunder by TKO.
