Wold Combat Championship – Horrow Show

The Island – The Underground (1000) 24th January

WCC brings you yet another blockbuster event from the Island, headlined by a pair of hulking heavyweights who knows what this night holds in store.

San Terra vs. Ben "Unincorporated" Pulse – 265lbs

Former HW champion Terra looks to use his deadly power to stop 205lbs champion Pulse. Terra has fantastic boxing skills with great defensive wrestling. He lost his title in his last fight and I wouldn’t want to be Pulse now with a great brute like Terra standing across from me, especially an angry Terra. Pulse is also a striker first and foremost as he overwhelms opponents from the opening bell with a flurry of strikes, his opponents usually falter within the first 2 minutes of the fight. This tactic has helped him to 5 successive 1st round finishes and the LHW title in WCC. Pulse will likely be the faster fighter on fight night but if he uses his usual tactic, he will find himself in a firefight he cannot win. I think Terra pulls this one off.

Prediction: Terra via KO

Dick Wad vs. Gunnar McGregor – 265lbs TITLE FIGHT

Wad is looking to defend his HW title against challenger McGregor. Wad is a terrifying clinch fighter, he bullies you on the inside and overwhelms with punches to the head and body, it has led him to 5 consecutive TKO wins. McGregor is a ground specialist, with relentless takedowns and a seemingly never ending gas tank that allows him to seek submission after submission. He finds himself against a guy who makes wrestlers like him look bad in rushing for takedowns, I don’t see Wad losing this fight.

Prediction: Wad via TKO

Arnolf "The Turncoat" Karstark vs. Oleg Bartowski – 170lbs TITLE FIGHT

Karstark is a well-rounded fighter whose base is wrestling. He has good power in his hands and is also competent at securing takedowns and pounding away on his foe. He has shown that with enough aggression he can be beaten as his chin has not held up on a few occasions. Bartowski is a better wrestler than Karstark but may be out-gunned standing against him. Bartowski relies on his forward pressure and heavy top game which allows him to tee off with ground and pound. If Bartowski can secure the takedown I see him dominating the fight, however I think Karstark will be able to fend off the takedown and win this fighting standing.

Prediction: Karstark via TKO

Sam "monster" MacLeod vs. Quin "Jedi" Kenobi – 170lbs

MacLeod fights best when he lets his hands fly, his boxing is great. However his defensive striking and his chin do not hold up to powerful shots. Kenobi is a ground fighter so MacLeod will not have to worry about being KOed. Kenobi is at his best when he is on top of his opponents and transitioning from one place to another looking for a limb or an exposed neck. He will have trouble dragging MacLeod to the mat though and I see the fight going in the favour of MacLeod.

Prediction: MacLeod via TKO

Roy Agua vs. Erik "The Red" Peturson – 205lbs

Agua has had only 1 fight thus far but he showed off an impressive clinch game, with knees, elbows and punches. Peturson shows a similar skill set, but looks more controlling in the clinch but he has especially brutal elbows. I think Peturson is physically more gifted and will be able to control the clinch action.

Prediction: Peturson via UD

UNDERCARD

Buba Harmon vs. Jack "The Gunner" White – 185lbs

Harmon is a typical sprawl and brawler, enough knowledge of wrestling to keep him upright and good boxing ability. White is a jack of all trades sort with power in his fists and good ground and pound. Harmon should take this in my eyes, he has the better boxing and good power.

Prediction: Harmon via KO

Taufiqul "Venom" Haq vs. Bruce "American Wailer" Marley – 265lbs

Haq is another sprawl and brawler, his wrestling will keep him standing and his fists do the talking. Marley is a lost Diaz brother, he has boxing ability and great BJJ but seemingly no wrestling or MT. He is a fighter whose purpose is to finish the other guy by whatever means. I see Haw being too strong a boxer and mix in clinch work to beat Marley.

Prediction: Haq via TKO

Leon "Prince Of Darkness" Wirya vs. "The Man In Suit" John Reese – 205lbs

Wirya is a stand up fighter, with a great chin and good punches, he has recently shown off great kicking ability also. Reese is a boxer first and foremost, he has power in his fists and has ok wrestling. He has been beaten a few times though especially he has been knocked out too many times for me to pick him in this fight.

Prediction: Wirya via KO

Tyron Lawler vs. Tom "Mr. Normal" Smith – 185lbs

Lawler likes to wrestle, but he has boxing ablity, he should look to use that more as his wrestling has often led him to defeat. Smith is also a wrestler with a good submission attack. I expect Smith to secure the tap out victory.

Prediction: Smith via submission

Rick Grimes vs. Lord Seraphim – 170lbs

Grimes seeks for submissions using his wrestling and BJJ base. Seraphim isn’t really good at anything, in his two fights he was handily dominated and failed to display many skills. Grimes should walk away with this one.

Prediction: Grimes via submission

That’s all from me people, hope you enjoyed this and hope you enjoy the fights.
