 Steel Penn- NY will be hosting SPNY 239: Danze – Mctanned on January 31, 2015 at the Liberty Dome in New York. With 10 great fights and the 265 title on the line it is sure to be great.
First up we have Taz “Dummy” Brandon against Daniel “Baby Face” Wagner. Brandon is looking to break a two fight losing streak, while Wagner is looking to get a win streak going after winning his last fight. Both of these fighters are fairly well rounded. Taz has some strong boxing and better BJJ that could pose a problem however, Daniel has some good wrestling skills. Who will get the win in this featherweight matchup? My Prediction- Taz Brandon by (T)KO.
That will be followed by a light heavyweight face off between Nino Brown and Randall “Cobra” Cunningham. Nino will look to use his skills to stop his losing streak and get his first win under his new manager. Randall will be using his superior boxing and muay thai skills to get a second straight win. It will take a lot out of Nino Brown to get the win; does he have what it takes? My Prediction- Randall Cunningham by (T)KO.
Then we are back to the featherweight division as Santiago Riasco goes against Sean “Winger” Richards. Santiago will be looking to use his wrestling skills and brown belt in BJJ to secure a win. Sean on the other hand could pose a problem with his exceptional muay thai and his superior boxing skills. Santiago is known for his submission skills with 7 great submission wins to his name. Sean for his 3 knockouts and ability to challenge you throughout the whole fight. My Prediction- Sean Richards.
After that we hit the middleweight division as Marek Jebut takes on “The Guillotine” John Duddy. Both of these men have quite a bit of experience, with 84 fights between the two of them. Jebut posses’ elite wrestling skills that pair well with his BJJ black to pose a problem for his opponents. Duddy looks to break his losing streak by using his striking skills. Will John break his losing streak or will Jebut get his first win in SPNY? My Prediction- Marek Jebut via Decision.
Next we hit the welterweight division as 38 year old Vladik Fedotov fights 40 year old Brain Watson. Vladik is known for his elite muay thai skills, he has 18 (T)KO wins and 17 decision wins. Vladik has won fight of the night 6 times and KO of the night 4 times. Brain on the other hand clearly has the advantage in the boxing department with his exceptional skills. Which means this could be a great brawl. Brain has 19 (T)KO , 4 Submission and 19 decision victories. He has earned 3 fight of the nights and 2 KO of the nights. My prediction- Brian Watson by (T)KO.
Heavyweights Iivana "Miltei" Jalo goes up against Billy Kincaid. There is a bit of an age difference here as Jalo is 28 and Kincaid is 35 past age Kincaid also has more experience too. Jalo has 22 wins in his career. He is known for using his exceptional boxing skills and BJJ brown belt. Kincaid has 27 wins in his career. Kincaid uses sensational boxing and muay thai skills with elite wrestling to earn himself a victory. It looks like this one will be an interesting match-up for sure. My Prediction- Billy Kincaid by decision.
We will stay in the heavyweight division for this next match up as "Mr. Boombastik" Hantu Rockamole looks to earn a victory against "Obama" Ben Ladin. Hantu posses top level skills in every area with sensational boxing and muay thai skills, elite wrestling, and a black belt in BJJ. He has used this great mix of skills to earn 17 victories so far in his career. Ben is going to be a tough competitor thought as he also contains top level skills in every area. Ben does not have the elite wrestling and BJJ skills that his opponent posses. Can he get the victory anyways? My Prediction- Hantu Rockamole via (T)KO.
We go back to the welterweight division for Rez Cortez versus Adolfo Dias. Rez Cortez is coming off a loss to Hoy Nelson but, he is known for the fact that all of his victories have been by (T)KO a feat that is not easy when you have 17 wins. Rez uses his exceptional boxing skills to dominate his opponents and knocking them out. His opponent Adolfo on the other hand matches his sensational boxing skills and pairs them with elite muay thai, superb wrestling, and a BJJ purple belt. Adolfo is looking to extend his win streak to 5 in this one. My Prediction- Adolfo Dias by (T)KO.
Then it is time for our co-main event of the evening as Rafael "Chiquita" Santa Cruz takes on Don Julio. Rafael has excellent BJJ skills that has elite wrestling to dominate his opponents on the ground. He has six submission wins and has earned 2 submissions of the night, 1 KO of the night, and 1 fight of the night. His opponent Don has elite boxing skills that pair well with his exceptional muay thai skills. His skill set has earned him 5 (T)KO and 9 decision victories. Along with that he has earned 2 Fight of the night and 2 KO of the night honors. This will be a great welterweight clash as Cruz looks to get back on the winning track and Julio looks to 6th straight win. My Prediction- Rafael "Chiquita" Santa Cruz via decision.
Then it’s time for the main event of SPNY 239! 32 year old heavyweight champion Billy "Danzinie" Danze will be putting his belt on the line. Billy looks to extend his win streak to 8 and successfully defend his title for 4th time. Billy has 13 (T)KO, 5 submission and 9 decision victories. Billy has a BJJ black belt and uses his wonderful boxing and elite wrestling skills to earn his victories. His opponent will not be an easy customer though. "The Future" Paul Mctanned returns to SPNY after some time away. While away he captured the MMA Helsinki heavyweight championship. At 28 years old Paul holds an impressive 23-5 record. He also has a BJJ black belt and a muay thai advantage. Paul is a submission specialist something that is hard to find at this level of competition. Need proof? Just look at his 10 submission of the nights. Will he be too much for the champion? My Prediction- Billy "Danzinie" Danze by (T)KO.
