Mick Shaw Q&A

Fighter profile of Kim Shaw by Alika Webb

Q: Dear martial arts fans today I will pay a visit to Mick Shaw. Mick last time we talked you mentioned that you signed a 5 fight deal with Immortals in New York City. You've since made your promotional debut but ended up short. How do feel about that?

Mick: It sucks. I had a lot to prove and I blew it, so I'm not feeling so good right now. But I'm not giving up now, I want to be a martial artist and I will do everything in my power to bite through this sour apple and get back on the winning track.

Q: I'm sensing a lot of regret on your part, but do you blame yourself or your opponent for your loss?

Mick: My opponent did what he had to do and I don't blame him one bit. There is no shame in losing, for there to be a winner in this sport you need a loser too. That sounds a little harsh, but that's the truth. And I truly believe that in MMA anything can happen, anybody can beat everyone at any time. You can only prepare yourself so much before you just need to go out there and hope for the best.

Q: Do you think your next fight could potentially be your last in this promotion if you lose?

Mick: I'm definitely aware of my current position but if I win than I'm back on track and ready to move forward again. No matter what happens I have got to believe that everything will be alright.  You can't keep looking back all the time. I get that you need to look back and learn from your mistakes but I find it much more important to keep looking forward and not dwell on the past too much. When you keep looking back you might miss some important things in front of you and they could cost you big time.

Q: Are you ready for next fight and do you already have an opponent in mind?

Mick: I'm definitely ready to fight whenever the boss wants me to fight and I will fight whoever he puts in front of me. I'm going to show that I deserve to stay here. And my opponent will find out that nothing is more dangerous than a cornered animal.

Q: Good luck and I look forward to seeing more of you in the future.
