Ladies and gentlemen, I, K-Rad, would like to welcome you all back to Amsterdam after a turbulent few weeks which have seen trash talking reach an all time high, some ups and downs in form and a massive challenge thrown down by Aquino and accepted by Speed which is hopefully going to result in a superfight between the middle weight and super heavyweight champions before too long! Tonight however, all eyes are on one of the original trouble starters, the one and only, "The Awesome One", Heraldo Magnifico as he looks to defend his lightweight title once more against the ever dangerous Jack Fry. It's going to be a huge night with over 5000 fans flocking to The Beer Garden to watch it go down and you can bet Schindler will be there, plotting his revenge and working out exactly how he is going to start back on the road to lightweight title contention. With 3 lightweight fights in the main card tonight will be a big chance for the competition to assess itself and for people to standup and say "I WANT TO BE THE CHAMPION" so come with me as we take a peek at the top 5 fights of the night:
Gnome Chomsky vs. Chris McGrady
Middleweight
Taking a break from the MIT (Middle Earth Institute of Technology) linguistics department, Chomsky is looking to improve his record against the undefeated-from-2 McGrady. Chomsky will be relying on his ability to get this fight down and his submission speciality as McGrady is a fierce standup warrior who will be hoping he can keep on his feet long enough to turn out some lights. The two men are more or less evenly sized, Chomsky has a touch more weight, McGrady a touch more height, both of these lead me to believe that McGrady may not have the ability to score a KO early enough in this fight to take a win so I am backing Chomsky to score a submission victory.
"Junior" Michal Bicki vs. Jerry "The Jump Rope" Cox
Lightweight
Fresh from a loss in his challenge for the belt, "The Jump Rope" Cox is looking to take on OC favourite and currently undefeated big boxer "Junior" Bicki. Bicki has looked very impressive recently, claiming KO OTN awards in his last 2 appearances and this will be a great opportunity for fight fans to watch two accomplished boxers go head to head as the sparks fly. Cox has been a bit lacklustre in recent appearances but he has the pedigree and the slightest of standup advantages as well as the wrestling to keep it where he wants it so expect this one to last until someone's chin gives way. A very tough fight to call but if you look at the calibre of fighters Cox has lost to, I think he has the experience behind him to end Bicki's unbeaten streak via KO.
Maarten "The Executioner" Van Der Moot vs. Felipe Melo
Lightweight
One man who knows what it is like to be the champion and to go toe-to-toe with champions is Melo. The original LW title holder and the man who has tried his best to reclaim it from Magnifico twice, Melo is taking on "The Executioner" Van Der Moot who's heavy hands have seen him undefeated from 3 appearances and yet to see the 2nd round of a fight. This is quite possibly FOTN material right here as Melo's pathetic wrestling means he isn't going to be able to put that blackbelt to use but his ability to make it to 3 rounds with the champ show his kickboxing and chin are capable of dealing out and receiving some punishment and Van Der Moot is certainly capable of dishing it out. With 12cm of extra height the only concern for the Netherlands native is that moving to L.A. to train might have been a poor strategic decision as the energy loss from the flights may affect his freshness in the cage. In my opinion however, this isn't going to matter a damn and I expect "The Executioner" to take a KO victory.
Jordan Statham vs. "Carbonite" Roy Carbon
Middleweight. Co-Main Event!
The co-main event is another scorcher as OC favourites Statham and "Carbonite" Carbon finally meet up in a middleweight fiesta that is going to be moistening panties and seeing slobbering sports fans sliding off their plastic seats. Statham is an accomplished wrestling roller whereas Carbon is a boxer who is hoping his wrestling is able to keep things on feet long enough to land a fist. With Statham standing over 3" taller than his opponent Carbon may have get his wish but I am concerned that Statham's ability to get fights down and pounded out within the first couple of minutes may well give him the psychological edge that see him take this fight. Despite losing via submission in his last appearance, I think Statham has what it takes to challenge for the title before too long and I expect him to win a GNP KO tonight.
"The Awesome One" Heraldo Magnifico vs. Jack Fry
Lightweight. Main Event!
What stands before you is a meeting of giants. A colossal main event of undefeated warriors. This is an erection maker, ladies and gentlemen so bring protection. Like a few kleenex. "The Awesome One", as you all know unless you've been under illegal detention and water torture in Guantanamo Bay, is the current champion and undefeated from 8 appearances including 3 title defenses. Fry is undefeated from 5 appearances and may have overworked himself coming into this bout as he looks tired currently but he still has a good solid day of rest if he isn't too keen and he had better not be because I am very, very concerned he is not going to make weight! Magnifico has rounded out his game impressively lately, adding substantial grappling to a formerly strong boxing ability which is going to give him options if he can get this fight to the floor as the two men are quite well matched from a standing point of view. I am going to tip Magnifico to claim a submission win tonight, but to be honest I expect this event to be ruled a No Contest due to Fry possibly being a bit of a fatty!
There it is ladies and gentlemen. I have put it out there and thrown some doubt and speculation into this event that even the finest of trash talking fighters can't match. If you want to see how correct I am then make sure you're at the event, otherwise follow the official twitter @JakubWest! K-Rad is out of here!
