"The Underdog" Tsrif Dnoces

Fighter profile of Tsrif Dnoces by Knockout Bob

Current Age: 27
Height: 171 cm, 5'6"
Weight: 152 pounds
Hometown: Nwot Emoh - Yemen
Base: Hilo
Current Sponsor: Xtreme Pwnage - Sydney Clothing

Born in Nwot Emoh, Yemen, Tsrif Dnoces was put to work at a young age on the family's coffee farm. It was known early that he was an extraordinary athlete. His main sport growing up in Yemen was football (soccer), in which he excelled. At the age of 22 he turned down a large contract with the Yemen Football Association with the hopes of one day fighting professionally in MMA. He immediately moved to Hilo, Hawaii and joined a local wrestling gym and went to work. Within a year he had caught the eye of a local organization called H-1 Global and signed on for a guaranteed 3 fight deal. Here is the story of Dnoces' career up until now, recapping all of his current fights.

Tsrif Dnoces (Professional MMA Debut) vs Dog "THE BOUNTY" Hunter (1-8) On a 8 fight losing streak, getting knocked out in 6 of those fights, The Bounty Hunter needed to come out with a win. Hunter was a jiu jitsu specialist that lacked standup skills, but that wouldn't hurt him in this fight. Dnoces was basically a pure wrestler that lacked any standup or jiu jitsu skills at this point. This fight didn't last very long. Dnoces came out firing with a two punch combo followed by a takedown into side control. From there he put on relentless ground and pound, rocking Hunter as he mounted him to finish him off with a big elbow. Walking out with a quick knockout victory 1:03 into round 1 for his MMA debut, Tsrif was feeling very confident and looked forward to his next opponent.

Tsrif Dnoces (1-0) vs "The Great" Corn Holiio (1-2) Next Dnoces was put against Holiio, a jack of all trades but master of none. Back in the gym, Tsrif decided to work on his striking a bit. Knowing this is MMA, he knew wrestling alone wasn't gonna be enough. As the fight started, Tsrif was showing off his improved boxing as Holiio landed an early takedown but was unable to capitalize on anything before the ref stood the fighters back up. Dnoces worked more strikes and landed the next takedown but again, the fight stalled and they were brought back to their feet. Then Dnoces managed a takedown into full mount! Laying on some impressive ground and pound, eventually landing a huge elbow that sent Holiio to sleep. With 27 seconds left in the first round, Dnoces got his 2nd professional MMA victory by knockout.

Tsrif Dnoces (2-0) vs Dejan Pesovic (1-0) For his final fight on his H-1 Global contract, Dnoces was put against the powerful sprawl and brawler Pesovic, who was coming off a big KO win. Looking to impress and get a good payday, he knew he needed to put on a good show. Pesovic had other ideas though as he took round 1 pretty easily. Dnoces displayed some improved striking skill but all of his takedowns were stuffed. Coming out in round 2, Tsrif landed an early takedown and laid into Pesovic with dominant ground and pound for the rest of the round. Pesovic showed a lot of heart though, refusing to tap. In round 3, Pesovic continued to stuff all of Dnoces takedowns but he was obviously slower after taking that beating in round 2. Dnoces used leg kicks and punches to win the final round and the fight. Winning by unanimous decision, Dnoces was on a 3 fight win streak to start his career and was now a free agent. Approached by one of Hilo's top orgs after the fight, Extreme Fighting Championship with an offer to fight on an upcoming card, he quickly found a new place to fight. He was promised a spot on their up and coming talent card and if he made a good showing, then he'd get a nice contract.

Tsrif Dnoces (3-0) vs Kris Napiera (11-3) His first fight in EFC wasn't going to be an easy one, Napiera was a well rounded fighter who specialized in submissions. Going into this fight, Dnoces was tagged the underdog by many fans and not many gave him a chance. Still without much of a jiu jitsu game, Dnoces knew he needed to control the fight. As the fight started, Napiera was looking solid in the standup before Tsrif took him down less than a minute into the round and started laying on his vicious ground and pound. Scoring a knockout 2:53 into round 1 and now with 4 straight wins, Dnoces was starting to build a solid fan base.

Tsrif Dnoces (4-0) vs Zach "Fire Fists" Galfanakis (3-0) Paired with the strong boxing and ground and pound fighter Galfanakis for his 5th fight, Dnoces knew a win here could draw some attention his way. Again he was tagged as the underdog but he hit the gym hard, training many areas of his game. Galfanakis came out aggressive in round 1, scoring a quick takedown. Dnoces scrambled his way on top though, before advancing his way to mount and rocking Galfanakis with a big elbow followed up by more strikes until the ref dived in to pull him off. 2:29 into round 1, another quick victory by ground and pound knockout!

"The Underdog" Tsrif Dnoces (5-0) vs Sam "Smiler" Shaw (9-4) Next up for Tsrif was Shaw, a boxer - grappler with 6 submission wins. As the fans heard about the fight, Dnoces was once again made the underdog due to his lack of striking skill, this time making it official. "The Underdog" was his new nickname. Dnoces didn't mind though, he was starting to like it. Why did he need to strike when he could power his way threw everyone? By now Tsrif was starting to become a little more well rounded and was looking good physically, becoming insanely flexible. He still had some improvement to do on his jiu jitsu and other areas, but he knew being super flexible always helps in that area, too. Round 1 was all Shaw though, as he outworked Dncoes on the feet and on the ground. Landing a few takedowns and attempting a couple failed submissions. Round 2 was a different story though. Dnoces matched Shaw in the standup before landing a takedown about a minute and a half into the round and successfully controlling Shaw until the round ended, though he was unable to mount any real offense as Shaw defended well. Round 3 was extremely close and could be called either way. Both men were pretty equal in the standup and both landed a couple of takedowns. I think Shaw had this round up until the very end when Dnoces landed a nice takedown into side control which evened things up. The judges couldn't decide either and called it a draw. 2 scored it 29:29 and one scored it 28:29 in favor of Shaw. With the outcome undecided and both fighters ready to go again, the rematch was set!

"The Underdog" Tsrif Dnoces (5-0-1) vs Sam "Smiler" Shaw (9-4-1) Not impressed by his performance, Dnoces went back to the drawing board. He went back to the gym and started to focus more on his technique. He knew pure athletic ability wasn't going to be enough against the caliber of fighters he was going to be up against now. In a very close round 1, Shaw came out on top. He scored a few takedowns and was able to control the pace. In round 2, Dnoces came out with a different look in his eyes. He took Shaw down straight into mount and worked his ground and pound until the ref jumped in to save the defenseless Shaw. Winning the rematch by knockout 1:32 into round 2, he was ecstatic over the win. Dnoces called out the champion during the post fight interview, but he was told he needed 1 more win to get it. Now a man on a mission, Dnoces trained like a mule for his upcoming fight.

"The Underdog" Tsrif Dnoces (6-0-1) vs Frank Mac (16-5) Now Dnoces was up against a veteran fighter with 10 wins by knockout, but he also had a suspect chin as 3 of his loses have also been by knockout. Mac was a world class boxer but his takedown defense wasn't very good. Tsrif knew exactly what to do going into this fight and his gameplan worked perfectly. Before the bell even stopped ringing as round 1 began, Dnoces had already landed a takedown into half guard and started laying on some ground and pound, eventually rocking Mac but he managed to hang on and complete the round. Dazed and beat up, Mac came out in round 2 throwing with power but unable to land anything. Dnoces soon countered one of his punches and brought him right back down to the mat. Mac was once again defenseless on the ground and Dnoces worked him over with strikes. Towards the end of the round Tsrif had Mac mounted and then took his back, finishing him off with ground and pound with only 4 seconds left on the clock. Dnoces would now get the title shot that he's been wanting for so long.

"The Underdog" Tsrif Dnoces (7-0-1) vs "The Punisher" Paul Williams (18-5) - Featherweight Title Fight Still undefeated and riding a nice hype train, Dnoces was on top of the world as he was about to fight for the EFC featherweight title against "The Punisher" Paul Williams. A veteran fighter with 11 title fights already behind him, Williams didn't have the added pressure of being in a championship fight. He was used to it. A kickboxer with a good sprawl and decent ground game, "The Punisher" was ready for this new challenger. As round 1 started, Dnoces quickly shot for a couple failed takedowns, followed by a nice hook to the ribs of Williams and then landing a counter takedown. Williams stalled enough to get stood back up, so Dnoces repeated the takedown, they stalled some more and he done it again until the round ended. Opening up round 2, Tsrif was quickly cut open but he managed to land a takedown and successfully control Williams for the rest of the round, unable to mount any real offense due to Williams great defense. Round 3 went the other way, though. As The Punisher stuffed a few takedown attempts and outworked The Underdog on the feet. Dnoces eventually landed a takedown with about 40 seconds left in the round but Williams was able to defend the strikes. Round 4 went back Dnoces way, as he landed the takedown and controlled Williams most of the round. Williams got back to his feet near the end of the round but he was too tired to do much. As the 5th and final round started, Williams began to work his striking again and started to punish Dnoces with strikes to the head and body. Tsrif managed a takedown but the fight was stood back up within a minute, where Williams continued to work his striking advantage. Tsrif lost the final round but managed to win the fight via unanimous decision, 47:48 by all 3 judges. And now the new ECF featherweight champion The Underdog" Tsrif Dnoces! In just 3 years time, from his first fight at 23 years old to now, at 26 years old, he went from a nobody to a champion. Finally getting a decent payday, he decided it was time to move out of a public gym and find a private one. Now receiving top level training, he was ready for anyone!

"The Underdog" Tsrif Dnoces (8-0-1) vs Siduri Rafter (11-4) - Featherweight Title Fight For his first title defense, Dnoces would fight a fighter very similar to himself. Rafter was a decent striker with good wrestling and powerful ground and pound. Almost the entire fight was spent on the ground. In round 1 Dnoces landed the takedown first but Rafter had other plans and took control on the ground, winning the first round. Dnoces corner must have given him some good advice, because Rafter never landed a takedown the whole fight, it was Dnoces landing them every round within the first minute. Rounds 4 and 5 within the first 10 seconds! Although once there, Rafter proved to be pretty crafty and although Dnoces was very aggressive, he was unable to do a whole lot of damage. Easily winning the fight though, Dnoces had his first title defense behind him. Again disappointed by his recent performances, he went back to the gym to try and do things a little differently.

"The Underdog" Tsrif Dnoces (9-0-1) vs Ivan "From Russia with love" Ko (15-5-1) - Featherweight Title Fight Dnoces next opponent was Ivan Ko, a sprawl and brawling boxer with a good clinch game, a decent chin and a lot of power in his hands. The previous EFC champion had won six of his last seven fights and was ready to take the belt away from Dnoces. Dnoces came out aggressive but Ivan quickly made him pay by knocking him down with a beautiful combination that cut Dnoces open within the first minute of the round. Dnoces managed to get a takedown soon after and control Ivan for the rest of the round but the beat down from Ko had already done enough damage to lose him the round. The rest of the fight looked much like the last one with Rafter, with Dnoces getting the early takedown every round and successfully controlling Ivan until the rounds ended. Dnoces won the fight four rounds to five, but again he was disappointed by his own performance. Determined to get another knockout when he hit the gym even harder this time around and was ready for his next opponent. Now with 10 straight wins to start of his career, Dnoces was off to a good start.

"The Underdog" Tsrif Dnoces (10-0-1) vs Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao (20-4-1) - Featherweight Title Fight Up next for Dnoces was Pacquiao, a powerful striker with a good ground game. Dnoces knew that this was going to be his toughest fight yet. As the fight started it was evident that Pacquiao had the better ground game and the better standup, Dnoces was gonna be in for a long fight. Pacquiao quickly secured an early takedown but Dnoces stalled and the referee stood them up. Pacquiao continued to lay into Dnoces with standing strikes while Dnoces was unable to get the takedown. Round two although it stayed standing while Dnoces to get better of Pacquiao. Going into round three, the fight was tied. But from here on out the fight was all Pacquiao's, he stopped every takedown Dnoces attempted and successfully out struck him on the feet. Winning the fight via unanimous decision, Pacquiao was now the new champion. Heartbroken by his first loss The Underdog went back to the gym to regain his composure. He took a little extra time off this time but was soon offered another fight, his comeback was underway.

"The Underdog" Tsrif Dnoces (10-1-1) vs "The Scourge" Vim Fweigo (14-8) For his comeback fight Dnoces would be up against Fweigo, another world-class boxer that had a proficient ground game, Dnoces knew this wasn't gonna be an easy fight either. Fweigo was coming off a loss but had won three straight before that and tonight, like Dnoces, he was also looking for comeback win. With both men ready to fight this one was underway. To Dnoces showed his old form landing a takedown early. Fweigo attempted a couple submissions but failed both of them before the referee stood fight back up. After a brief exchange on the feet with the Dnoces getting the better of it, Dnoces managed to land another takedown and quickly advanced to mount, but the slippery Fweigo scrambled back to his feet. The round ended with another brief exchange on the feet before Dnoces landed a takedown into side control right at the bell. As round two began Fweigo came out a little more aggressively throwing strikes, but Dnoces hit the takedown a minute and a half into the round. Fweigo pretty much stayed on the bottom for the rest of the round, attempting a few submissions but failing as Dnoces ground and pounded his way to win the round. In round three Dnoces scored another early takedown but this one was into full mount and he succeeded to ground and pound Fweigo out cold a big elbow to finish it off. After the fight Dnoces thanked his fans for the support and vowed to keep the wins coming. Now 11-1-1 and still a top contender, Dnoces is looking forward to making another run at the title. His next fight is against 17-7 "El Matador" Eddie Bravado on December 4, 2011 at EFC 112. Come check out the fight!
