Ok ok, this was nice at the beginning but now I can't stand it anymore. It's this damned Sand Everywhere! Expect plenty of cuts tomorrow, and rashes and blister too, and maybe a few knock outs due to sand in a fighter's eyes. We're at the Underground of the island once again so let's take a look at the top 5 fights of this event...
#6 Sonny Corinthos v Victor Jordan
The Teflon Don comes to the leftovers with a 1-1 record. He's a veteran boxer who likes to load on his punches. His mediocre wrestling already cost him a kneebar loss but maybe he's improved since then. Victor is on a streak, a losing one. He's way too tall for a middleweight but maybe that will help him now because I'm expecting a boxing match here and the reach advantage is surely his.
#7 Bobby Hall v Brett Harrison Wells
Bobby, a decorated NCAA division I wrestler, rebounded well after failing to overthrow the champ, Hammer. He uses his excelent wresting abilities very well setting up nice TKO wins due to GnP. His opponent, Brett, has so far only one fight but he did win it. We can take from that single fight that he loves to throw strikes and he mixes them nicely. He does seem to be much more accurate with his legs than with his hands so he'd better come with some tight strikes for this one, or else Hall will take him down and hammer him out.
#8 Franklin Fitzgerald v Temoodschin Khan
Fitzgerald, from St.Lucia, got clobbered on his last fight and proved to be no match to the #1 welterweight and current champ Palmier. I wonder if his game plan will change for this fight. He's a good boxer with a nice accuracy rate on his punches. But will that be enough? Khan, from Mongolia, has a 2-1 record with us and relies on his ground game to win fights but his wrestling is terrible. Will he have the tools to bang with his opponent? I think not. Franklin will right his ship on this one.
#9 Co Main - Achillies Hendricks v Luk Yuha
The greek warrior has a nice 4-1 record with his only loss coming to the champ. He rebounded well with a fight of the night win against Khan. He's a puncher with ok defensive wrestling but he also has some gaps on his stand up defense. Luk is an extremelly similar type of fighter. He stepped up to take the fight against a much higher ranked opponent after knocking out his only opponent so far. His strategy seems to rely on punching as well so we'll see whether this will be another fight of the night or if his unexperience will cost him a loss.
#10 Main Event - Fernardu Palmier v Danny Charles - 170lbs title
Fernardu, the number 1 welterweight in the island, has left a trail of destruction through his 6 fights so far. He stands undefeated and has not reached the third round in his past 5 fights. He plans to clinch and murder his opponent with punches. His opponents knows what's coming, but can he do anything about it? Danny called for the title shot on the trail of his 4 fight winning streak. He's young and small, but he does have guts in taking this fight. His skills are average all over the place so it wil give him some flexibily going into this fight but I fear his young age will make him easy prey for the Maltese champ.
