Hi Everyone, I’m Nick James (104699) and this is your preview of UPF 8: Bum Vs. Grimes (838636). The card was made possible by UPF owner Dale Saw (77197) and we have Jamie McKenna (26734) to thank for arranging the fights. The card features ten fights, with the main event being a light heavyweight match, between Beach Bum and Rick Grimes, for the currently vacant Light Heavyweight Title. Also featured on the card is Howard Jeblowme, Dylan Lambert and Jeremy Lukobele. The event will take place on Saturday, the 18th of July at The Pipeline arena in Hilo, get your ticket now to avoid disappointment. I’d also like to give a special thanks to Sportsmanship Ltd. Where you can get top of the line clothing from Montreal Canada.
Welterweight Bout - Toal Kean Cionaoith (268913) [The Cage Cartel] vs Joe "Lone Wolf" Dever (274514)
The evening is to be kicked off with a welterweight bout between two youngsters in Toal Kean Cionaoith and Joe Dever. Cionaoith a 19 year old American, is coming into the fight, which is set to be his UPF debut, with a record of 0-1, after a crushing defeat. His manager Sean McDonnel (25903) is a 1000 fight plus veteran of MMA management and at a point of time was considered to be the best manager in the world. McDonnel has proven to be very protective of his fighter, making sure he is completely ready and has a good match up before allowing him to fight for the second time. I hope for his sake he has chosen correctly. His opponent, Joe Dever, is a year younger than Cionaoith and is a native of Nauru of which, he is the sixth highest ranked fighter. This fight will be his second professional MMA bout, having made his debut at UPF 3 in a dominant performance against Tobias Gibson. Dever is managed by Crazy Horse (88689), who has an elaborate managerial history, although it does not quite compare to McDonnel’s. I can’t really see a situation in which Cionaoith loses this match. Despite his record, I think he is a much better rounded fighter. Dever is also very small for the division, which will not do him any favours.
Welterweight Bout - Kang Gae Ri (269186) [The Broken Halo Pride] vs Marcio "Marcinho" Andre (267693) [LEGION OF DOOM]
The second fight of the evening is a battle between two 19 year olds with 1-0 records, in Kang Gae Ri and Marcio Andre, who are both making their UPF debuts. South Korean Gae Ri, is managed by yet another veteran South Korean manager in Mega Jug (51182), who has racked up a total of 978 fights managed. His opponent Andre, is a BJJ black belt who has a very dominant history in BJJ competition. Andre is now managed by fellow Brazilian Rodrigo Rojas (101547), who lead him to a victory in his MMA debut. This fight is very hard to call, and will depend largely on Gae Ri’s takedown defence. If Andre can get the fight to the mat, the crafty black belt will surely lock in a submission, but if he can’t, he does not possess the striking skills to bang with Gae Ri. If I had to pick a winner, I’d go with Gae Ri, but I wouldn’t put money on that. 행운 to Jug and Gae Ri and boa sorte to Rojas and Andre.
Batamweight Bout - Come "Sail" Away (275646) [LEGION OF DOOM] vs Andries Habel (262088) [LEGION OF DOOM]
The next fight will be between Afghani, Come Away, and Kiwi, Andried Habel. 23 year old Away, currently has a record of 1-0 and can be described as a boxing wrestler. He is managed by rape enthusiast Analover Bloodystool (104700), whose fighters have only won one out of the last 17 fights he has managed. His opponent, Habel, is a very well rounded 21 year old, who has a record of 1-2. The fight against Away will mark his UPF debut and he will be hoping to establish a win streak, started in his last fight which he won with a second round TKO. Habel is managed by Jake Goldman (87807) who has had a much better run as of late than Bloodystool. This fight is an absolute no brainer for me, Habel will pick up an easy victory, if the fight takes place, which is looking quite unlikely as Away is dead tired and still has travelling to worry about. Even without that, I’d give Habel the win, as he is better rounded.
Featherweight Bout - Joaquin "The Heat" Herrera (275724) [LEGION OF DOOM] vs Everaldo "EJ" Junior (275515)
Up next is a 145 lb battle between Joaquin Herrera and Everlado Junior, who are both making their UPF debuts. 18 year old, Spanish fighter, Herrera, has never fought professionally but is a quite well rounded fighter. Herrera and his manager, Dr. Jones (105245), will be hoping to kick Herrera’s career off with a win, but Everaldo Junior will be no pushover. Junior is a Brazilian fighter who is currently 24 years old. He has fought professionally twice and used his Muay Thai skills to pick up two devastating knockout victories, under his current manager, Jorge Junior (105319), a relatively new manager from Brazil. It’s going to be a very close affair, but I give the win to Herrera. Junior is looking a little sluggish coming into the fight, which I think will give Herrera just enough of an edge, but I would not be surprised if I am wrong.
Lightweight Bout - Robby "Primetime" Kronemeyer (275323) [Tycoon Alliance] vs Morris "The Black Mamba" Edwards (274867)
Fight number five on the card features two Muay Thai fighters making their UPF debuts, in Robby Kronemeyer and Morris Edwards. Kronemeyer at 19 years old, has a professional record of 1-1 under his current manager Terrence Sweats (105169). The American Kronemeyer will be hoping to open his UPF account with a victory against his opponent Morris Edwards. Edwards hailing from Barbados, is 22 years old and has also fought twice. Edwards managed to pick up wins in both of his fights and he and his manager Sam Houston (96538) will be looking to extend his record to 3-0 at UPF 8. I can say quite confidently that Edwards will pick up the win tomorrow night. He has superior Muay Thai and they are relatively even in other departments. In addition to this Kronemeyer is still in Las Angeles and with the fight less than 24 hours away, he will not have sufficient time to recover all of the energy he will lose travelling. Perhaps after the fight, both managers can improve the gyms their fighters train at, as UPF salary is more than enough to not need to train at Cozad.
Heavyweight Bout - Abe "Jötunn" De Vries (275252) [LEGION OF DOOM] vs What "About " Rape (275636) [LEGION OF DOOM]
In the sixth bout of the evening, Dr. Jones (105245) and Analover Bloodystool (104700) will both be coming out for the second time at UPF 8 as their fighters Abe De Vries and What Rape go head to head. De Vries is a 25 year old Iceland native, who is a very sound striker with good boxing and Muay Thai. He currently holds a 3-0 record, winning all of his fights by KO/TKO, but will be making his UPF debut in this fight. He will be hoping to do his father, who is a kickboxing champion, proud in this fight and extend his record to 4-0 and climb higher in the heavyweight division. His opponent, What Rape, is from America and is only 17 years old. Fortunately, Mr and Mrs Rape signed a special piece of paper, to allow their son who is still a child to fight. Rape is coming into the fight with a record of 1-0 and unlike Bloodystool’s other fighter, he is on weight, although he is still in LA, so will lose some energy flying over to Hilo. This fight is a no brainer for me, De Vries should win relatively easily, his striking ability will just be too much for Rape.
Middleweight Bout - Hector "The Dragon" Monza (275564) [Force Fight Team] vs "The Sault Samurai" Twelve Knickerbocker (274195)
The next bout is a fight between UPF newcomer Hector Monza and Twelve Knickerbocker. American 25 year old Monza currently has a record of 2-0 and will be making his UPF debut against Knickerbocker. Monza will be bringing his superb wrestling ability with him to the fight which his manager Rico Rico (105334) would like to see him take advantage of. His opponent Knickerbocker is also 25, but comes from up north in Canada. Knickerbocker has a record of 2-2 coming into the fight and already has 2 UPF fights under his belt, beating Sal Thompson, then being submitted by Mustafiq Rana. Tuck St. Patrick (104978) will be looking for his fighter to get back into the win column in this fight, but Monza will be quite a test. I’m going to give the win to Monza, although his stand up is weaker, we haven’t really seen Knickerbocker use his stand up, even against fighters he seems to have a stand up advantage over. He has also been quite susceptible to submissions and Monza does have a submission victory under his belt.
Featherweight Bout - Daniel Cox (275180) vs Jeremy Lukobele (275566) [Tycoon Alliance]
Up next is a bout between two more UPF newcomers in Daniel Cox and Jeremy Lukobele. Welsh 25 year old Cox is coming into the bout with a record of 2-0 and superb wrestling skills. He is “managed” by Mike Anderson (105260) who has been on the missing persons list for around a month now. Without his manager, nobody could tell Cox to rest before his fight so he kept on training in ignorant bliss, so he will be coming in quite lethargic. His opponent, Lukobele, is a 24 year old from Congo and also has a 2-0 record. He is a striker in every sense of the word and won both his fights by KO/TKO. His manager Henrik Bendahl (105306) should look into tightening his wrestling skills as he could be very susceptible to takedowns. I’ve made the mistake of ruling unmanaged fighters out in the past, so I’m not going to make that mistake again and go with Cox, despite his lack of manager and energy. This might sound a little crazy, so I’ll explain why I’m going with Cox. In Cox’s last fights, he actively looked for takedowns, and with his manager gone, he should still be following the same game plan, meaning he will look for a lot of takedowns very aggressively, which I don’t think Lukobele will be able to deal with.
Co-Main Event
Super Heavyweight Bout Howard Jeblowme (272639) [LEGION OF DOOM] vs Dylan Lambert (275342)
The co-main event is a super heavyweight bout, between Howard Jeblowme and Dylan Lambert and has serious title implications. A win for Jeblowme could see him get a shot at the title, while a win for Lambert could throw him right into the mix at the top of the division. Boxer and wrestler Jeblowme had a fantastic start to his career, winning four in a row by KO/TKO, including two five second victories. He did however lose his last fight, but is ready to get back to his winning ways in the UPF, starting with his Debut. Jeblowme is a 25 year old Australian and is managed by terrible manager and all-round shit bloke Nick James (104699). His opponent is also 25 years old, but comes from the lovely nation of France. Lambert is also making his UPF debut in this fight and is coming in with a record of 1-0. Lambert is a very accomplished grappler which I expect his manager Stan Still (105287) to use to his advantage. Still, however, has neglected to send Lambert to Hilo thus far, meaning he will come into the bout a little tired due to the flight from LA. I’m backing my own man Jeblowme in this bout. I’d say why, but I wouldn’t want to give Still any clues as to how Jeblowme will be fighting tomorrow night.
Main Event
Light Heavyweight Title Bout - Beach Bum (267055) vs Rick Grimes (273912) [LEGION OF DOOM]
The main event of the evening is the much anticipated five round bout between Beach Bum and Rick Grimes for the vacant Light heavyweight Championship. Beach Bum is coming into the fight with a very impressive 6-0 record, with the BJJ brown belt picking up 5 of those wins via submission. Bum is a 27 year old American who has been managed by Shan Lee (102965) for all of his fights. Bum will be looking to continue his domination and claim the title in what will be his first UPF appearance. His opponent, 25 year old American, Rick Grimes, will no doubt have a thing or two to say about that. Grimes currently has a record of 3-0 under manager Gustav Nyquist (104115), with his past 2 victories coming in UPF. He beat both Lord Hummungus and Quirinus Rai in his UPF bouts and has never been as far as round 3 in a fight without scoring a knockout. Grimes has tremendous boxing and good defensive wrestling which he will need to beat Bum tomorrow night. I’m going to go against what their records suggest and say Grimes will win the fight. Bum has been very impressive in his wins, but the guys he has beaten do not compare with Rick Grimes who has proven himself against high quality opposition here in UPF. Grimes also boasts a 91% takedown defence rate and a 100% KO rate which will see him past the threat of Beach Bum.
I don’t need to tell you how exciting this card will be, 10 great fights including a Light Heavyweight Championship match. We have some great events coming up in UPF, next weekend both the heavyweight and the featherweight belts will be on the line at UPF 9, do not miss it.
Good luck to all the fighters and managers competing on Wednesday!
