Hello everyone! Does anyone ever ask about your island guy? Ever? That's right, welcome to Ignored at the Hayashi's Lounge. This time the top 5 of the event is stacked with contenders, let's look at them.
#6 Ganbaatar Khan v Sonny Corinthos
The Mongolian is 3-2 coming into this one having lost to the current champ and won against the former challenger Munoz on his previous two fights. Khan is trying to high kick his way to a shot at the belt and is looking to start a winning streak here. Sonny, 1-0, is a boxer who also mixes kicks in. This should be an enjoyable fight and they will both go to war on their feet. I don't expect a decision.
#7 Bobby Hall v Ranko Vrhovski
Bobby, 3-1, is the most likely #1 WW contender with a win here. His combination of wrestling and submission skills has served him well and he's the favourite to come out from this fight with a 3 fight winning streak. Ranko had a succesfull debut with a quick TKO victory against Brannon. He's a muay thai veteran who likes combos at range and to throw lots of punches in the clinch. I wonder how he'll handle the takedown threat here.
#8 Jean Pilou v Cheng Ki Won
It's a former title challenger versus a former champ on this one. Pilou rebounded well from his loss with a quick TKO win against Styles. That earned him another really tough challenge for Cheng will most likely try to take the fight to the ground and force a tapout from Jean. Pilou is a decent wrestler so maybe he has a chance against the BJJ machine from Singapore. Cheng, 3-1-1, won all his fights by submission including his last fight where he managed to get a 1st round kimura. A win from Ki Won would cement him as the #1 contender at 205 lbs.
#9 CO MAIN - Franklin Fitzgerald v Charlie Morbolev
Both these guys have 4-1 overall records, both of them are top contenders at 170lbs and both of them have only lost against the #1 P4P of the island and current welterweight champ Palmier. Only one of them will get the chance to rematch. Both of them are distance fighters favouring the hands. This one will be a thriller! I'm glad I'm not a bookmaker because I have no idea who will take this. I will surely be on the edge of my seat though.
#1- MAIN EVENT - Bernardo Muriel v Dennis Reynolds - 205lbs title
Bernardo Pikachu Muriel, #2 LHW at the island, was the man who took the title from Cheng and has already successfully defended it twice. A wrestler who works in the clinch has dominated during all his 4 fights with us, not losing any. Dennis was called up for this tough challenge and he enthusiastically accepted. Dennis is a heavy handed boxer from the US who has finished all his opponents in the 1st round. His undefeated 3-0 (2-0 with us) record has lead him into his hardest task in the cage ever. Will he pose a threat to the dominant force of the Brazilian champ?
