GAMMA#486 Bateman v Drost Review

Global Association of MMA, Fight Organization, London
Company profile by Mentor Guru Corleone

The original GAMMA organization has once again produced an incredible event with top-notch fighters for your viewing pleasure. However you apparently could not make it so now you must read about in this review. Such are the complications of life, and hopefully I can visualize for you what those who saw it were seeing. If not, all the torso-ripping details can be found at http://www.mmatycoon.com/orgeventpublic.php?EvID=830411. This event had 10 bouts with 3 knockouts, and 6 decisions, and 1 submission. This event was produced by the "Master of Globalized MMA", Mentor Corleone (3503) and sponsored by GREEN!160 (3879) a Nutritional company based in Las Vegas.

155 lbs fight between Graeme Symons (185305) and Stampe "The Death Troll" Eklund (191268)

Eklund is a sensational boxer/wrestler and Symons is an elite ground fighter. This fight started with promise when Symons misses with a body shot and Eklund cuts him with a counter punch. But from there on it was BORING and in the next 13 1.2 minutes a TOTAL of strikes landed from BOTH fighters added together was a measly 39 strikes. And with Eklund landing 23 and Symons landing only 16 I have no idea how the judges decided it was Symons who won. Symons did slightly better in the standing but he took a beating on the ground.

Results: Symons is an elite ground fighter and Eklund is a boxer/wrestler. All 3 judges see the fight the same at 29:28 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Graeme Symons!

265+ lbs fight between Mark Makers (111282) and "The Gentleman" Nigel York (110555)

Makers is a boxer, and York is a well rounded fighter with a weakness in BJJ. Round 1, Makers with a combo followed by a clinch and thats the word for this fight. Clinch. Damn near the entire fight was spent in the clinch where Makers dominated and rocked York in the 2nd round and then cut him and knocked him down but was unable to take him out. The 3rd round was spent in the clinch as well and both men were busy throwing strikes with York throwing more but landing less...in fact I think my headcold may have been caused by the breeze coming off York's gloves...

Results: All 3 judges see the fight the same at 27:30 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Mark Makers!

170 lbs fight between Alastair Gridlock (160181) and David "The Mink" Charles (150927)

Gridlock is an elite fighter in all areas of MMA and Charles is an exceptional fighter with a weakness in BJJ. Ding Ding ! Charles lands first strike and they both get busy. Charles is kicking and looking for a takedown and Gridlock seems to be bidding his time. As Charles continues to attack, Gridlock body kicks and then drops Charles with a beautiful combination. Gridlock waves him to his feet and then attacks wildly at Charles is looking for a takedown where he might be able to smother the attack and get his head together. Charles changes tactics and tried to clinch and Gridlock counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Gridlock looks at the referee who does nothing so Gridlock lands a crushing right that sends Charles to the floor! Its all over!

Results: After 2:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alastair Gridlock!

145 lbs fight between "The Whoreson" Lik Alotadik (161997) and Cesar Sampaio

Alotadik is a well rounded sensational fighter with a weakness in BJJ and Sampaio is a BJJ fighter. Which makes me think this could be a VERY fast fight...one way or another... Ding Ding ! Sampaio straight to the clinch and takedown. Alotadik immediately reverses him which is probably exactly what Sampaio wanted as he instantly is working submissions. Alotadik eventually stands up and Sampaio goes stright for the clinch again and they struggle in and out of the clinch as each tries to impose his will on the other. Round 2, Sampaio straight to the takedown but Alotadik satnds up only to have Sampaio take him down again, up again, down, reversal...these guys are all over the place, and thats how it goes until the end of the fight. Sampaio totalled a whopping 50 takedown attempts and 20 clinches and ZERO strikes...yes ZERO strikes. And since he put all his eggs in the submission basket, his failure made it easy for the judges.

Results: All 3 judges see the fight the same at 27:30 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Lik Alotadik!

265+ lbs fight between Evil "Genius" Muno (200495) and Franklin Munchack

Muno is a sensational standup fighter and Munchack is an elite wrestler. Both men enter the cage represented by new managers and for Muno its a GAMMA debut. Ding Ding ! Muno comes out kicking and Munchack replies with a takedown. Muno works on a submission and Munchack is throwing GnP, but the referee stands them up. Muno is launching a kick attack and cuts Munchack with a high kick. Round 2, Muno comes out and is just beating the dog snot out of Munchack who is looking for the counter takedown and gets it. They roll around like 2 sisters pulling hair until the referee stands them up. Round 3, Munchack a bit slow to the takedown but he gets it and is throwing GnP and a few submission attempts but Muno is defending well and working on position and thats how the fight ends.

Results: All 3 judges see the fight the same at 29:28 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Evil Muno!

265+ lbs fight between Convicted Killer (187371) and "Lucky" Salvatore Lucania (178877)

Killer is an elite standup fighter with a weakness in BJJ. and Lucania is a sensational Muay Thai fighter. Ding Ding ! Lucania lands first and cuts Killer with a head kick and is targetting the cut and its getting worse. Towards the end of the round Killer returns the favor with a knee and now the vampires are on the edge of their seats. The rest of the fight Lucania was clinching and thats where he lost the fight. Killer put a beating on him in the clinch and it was in the clinch where he ate an elbow from Killer and was rocked. Killer then caught him with a right hook to put him down and the referee ends it.

Results: After 3:21 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Convicted Killer!

185 lbs fight between "The Anaconda" Marcos Duarte (120066) and Jax "Scarslutje" Teller (144166)

Duarte is an elite ground fighter and Teller is an elite Muay Thai fighter with his weaknesses in ground fighting...so this could also be a fast fight...one way or another. Ding Ding ! Teller comes out kicking like a bitch but Duarte imposes his will and takes Teller to the ground where he proceeded to work that GnP/submission magic. And added to spending half the fight on the ground working Teller over...the standup battle was also a good show for Duarte who actuallu outscored Teller 14 to 12 strikes landed. So how the hell one judge saw it as 29:29 is somthing I think only a scan of his finances will explain...

Results: The judges see the fight somewhat differently at 27:30/29:29/27:30 in favor of your winner, by majority decision... Marcos Duarte!

155 lbs fight between Gennaro "Il Coltello" Gattuso (143909) and Wedge Xiii (156221)

Gattuso is a sensational wrestler and Xiii is an elite ground fighter. Ding Ding ! This fight I expected to be on the ground...and thats where it was won, but the fight was mostly in the clinch where Xiii dominated just as he did in the standing. But Gattuso brought more to the table than a war on the feet and late in the 2nd round he stopped playing patty cake with Xiii and pulled guard and submits him.

Results: After 3:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gennaro Gattuso! Gattuso was awarded "Submission of the Night".

145 lbs TITLE fight between the Champion, Meat Beater (174503) and the Challenger, Timofey Boyko

Beater is a well rounded sensational fighter with a weakness in BJJ and Boyko is a well rounded fighter with elite Muay Thai skills. Ding Ding ! Both fighters come out kicking and Boyko wants to clinch and they go at it in the clinch but it seems Boyko is landing more and has knees and elbows and Beater has only punches. Boyko also did substandtially better than Beater in the standing war and overall it was 98 strikes Boyko landed to Beater landing 64. So it came as a HUGE surprise to me when the judges scorecards were announced...

Results: The judges saw the fight slightly different at 47:48/47:/48:48 in favor of your winner, by majority decision... Meat Beater! Meat Beater is the new featherweight champion! This fight was awarded the "Fight of the Night".

265 lbs TITLE fight between the Challenger, Doomsday Drost (131933) and the Champion, "American Psycho" Patrick Bateman (180187)

Drost is an elite ground fighter and Bateman is a sensational boxer/wrestler with a weakness in BJJ. Ding Ding ! Bateman comes out on the attack and Drost is defending/countering but takes a cut at the 1 minute mark. Bateman is kicking and Drost is working the body and countering. Round 2, Bateman still on the attack and Drost is still defending but his cut is getting worse as Bateman lands shots on it. Round 3, Much the same as previous rounds except Drost probably in fear of the fight being stopped due to the cut takes the fight to the ground late in the round and starts throwing GnP. Round 4, Apparently feeling good about the results of the ground war, Drost takes it to the mat again and tries a submission then goes to the GnP and he drops a big elbow and Bateman looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Drost turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory!

Results: After 3:51 of round 4, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Doomsday Drost! Doomsday Drost is the new heavyweight champion! Drost was awarded the "KO of the Night".
