Every year GAMMA has it's annual awards for best fighters, something we have been holding since our creation in 2009. The previous awards were as follows:
Fighter of the Year 2009
1st Mikhail Yudovich
2nd Nikon Holm
3rd Lennon Lewis
Fighter of the Year 2010
1st Raz Matazz
2nd Alexander Khalifman
3rd Mikhail Yudovich
Fighter of the Year 2011
1st Jeremy Tonal
2nd Trent Pope
3rd Karl Denke
Fighter of the Year 2012
1st Anton Chigurh
2nd Jeremy Tonal
3rd Raz Matazz
Fighter of the Year 2013
1st Renan St Juste
2nd Simon Williams
3rd Keith Green
Fighter of the Year 2014
1st Jesse Custer (183716)
2nd Russ Rutger (62373)
3rd Ein Stein (182566)
In our history only one fighter has made it to the top 3 in 2 different years (Raz Matazz achieved this in 2010 and 2012), but this year that record could be repeated.
I have decided that for this year there will be specific criteria for rating the performance of each fighter. The rating will work as follows:
We will only be considering fighters which won a title during the year.
+3 points for a win,
+1 point for a draw,
+1 point if the fight was a title fight or super fight (between other orgs),
-3 points for a loss.
-In the case of a draw we take into consideration finishes.
-In the case there is a draw again, we take into consideration total fights in GAMMA.
Note: We do not count fights which took place outside of GAMMA, unless it was a super fight and the fighter was fighting under the GAMMA banner.
This way it makes the rankings more objective. As of December 08, the top 10 ranked fighters are (in random order):
Renan St Juste (102580)
Arthur Curry (92326)
Hektor Troy (160259)
Ein Stein (182566)
Patrick Bateman (180187)
Fernando Prado (181926)
Gunnar Gustavsson (134470)
Krystian Wojnasiewicz (159688)
Gunnar Steigelmann (196145)
Tamias Poochyena (135965)
Among the above, the only fighters which have a fight booked in 2015 are:
Patrick Bateman
Gunnar Gustavsson
Hektor Troy
Fernando Prado
Krystian Wojnasiewicz
So the final standings could still alter depending on if people win or lose their fights in the upcoming weeks. I have to say that the standings are VERY close, there is just a few points difference between the top 5 at the moment.
