Island FC Fight Night 1

Event Preview: IFC Fight Night 1
ISLAND FC
2016-02-10, The Island, Hayashi's Lounge - The Island
Author:Justin Credible

Ladies and Gentlemen, Justin Credible here doing what I do best… Giving my opinion on things I have limited knowledge about! This time I’m previewing Island FC’s first Fight Night! Let’s get into it!

Kingsley Babajide v Obat Timur starts the night off, this one looks promising.

Babajide is a former rebel soldier who turned his life around after finding BJJ, under the tutelage of none other than Rockmeteller Todd himself “Regal” began to see enormous growth in his skills. He is dead set on winning Island FC gold and needs to get past Obat Timur to do it.

Speaking of Obat Timur, he had quite the tumble coming out of the gate in his first MMA bout losing a grueling decision to seasoned Island fighter Blaster Monocastor, which he thinks he won.

Timur is determined to get back to the winning path and knows this will be no easy task, he’s been quoted saying, “Last fight was a fluke, this time I’m going to work harder than I ever have before and make sure that this one doesn’t go to a decision. I know he is a very acclaimed grappler, but I’ll end this one before it hits the ground!”

I’m excited to see how this one plays out, I’m taking Kingsley Babajide to win his debut!

Robbie Rockhold v Issumatar Tariaksuq comes your way next!

Robbie Rockhold is a very dangerous striker with an amateur record of 15-0 with all 15 of his wins coming by way of knockout! He almost didn’t participate in The Island until JJ Tycooner personally flew to Riverside,CA and talked him into it (or if you follow the blogs, threw enough cash at him to participate). Either way you look at it, I am excited to finally see Robbie Rockhold in the big leagues and take on some of these brutal Island fighters!

I.T. (Abbreviation because, I mean Damn….that is one complicated ass name!) is a 1-0 fighter that many had written off when he announced his plans to come over to The Island, but his hard working win over Dirt McGirt proved all the nay sayers wrong. He plans on using his wresting to his advantage in this fight and upset the heavy favorite and show people he is more than just a fighter with a hard name to pronounce.

Despite I.T’s 1-0 record, I’m still picking Robbie Rockhold to win his debut!

Sid Vicious v Rudy Mar Binay is our 3rd bout of the night!

This one is interesting, we have a striker/grappler fight which could always go one of two ways, very boring or very exciting. Sid Vicious is a street figher who thinks grappling is “hella gay-like” so he’ll be looking to keep this one standing and brawl his way to a win.

Rudy Mar Binay is an Olympic bronze medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling he believes this fight won’t last over 1 round, he’s been quoted saying, “I probably won’t break a sweat in this one, I mean the guy couldn’t stop a takedown to save his life. He thinks grappling is gay? Well I’ll be sure to give his ass a good pounding….wait…..I mean…. I’ll just beat him…” Hmmmm…..anways, I’m picking Mar Binay to win this one.

Alexander Vermeer v Jesus Icon is our next fight!

Both men are 2-0 but each man has taken a very different path to victory.

Alexander Vermeer’s 2 wins have come by way of (T)KO and Decision. His hands are fast but fragile, his first professional MMA bout saw him break his right hand in the first round, and have to fight the rest of the fight in a southpaw stance. He still managed to take home the victory, and after he healed up, he quickly TKO’d his next opponent in the 1st round.

Jesus Icon is a brown belt in BJJ and is going to be looking to take Vermeer into different waters and drown him with submissions, he is confident he’ll be able to secure the victory by showcasing his submission skills. This is a tough fight, but I’m picking Jesus Icon to win this one.

Herminio Herculano v Alex Mack is our prelim main event!

Two brutal knockout artists who are looking to make a statement with a win in this fight! HH is a 2-0 prospect with a ton of power and the chin of a god. His muay thai skills are second to none and he loves to show them off. His last fight was about as short as your first sexual experience and far more impressive.

Alex Mack is a boxer who also has a ton of power and the chin of a god, only difference is his cardio didn’t hold up in his last fight, resulting in him losing a decision. Rumor has it he was seen partying with Jonny Manziel before his last fight, could that be the reason? His camp said he is 100% focused on this fight, so we’ll see! I’m taking Herminio Herculano anyways!

Julian Day v Mark Wahlberg starts our main card off with a bang!

These two heavyweights have been very vocal about title shots and this fight could serve as a potential No.1 contenders fight. Mark Wahlberg is 2-0 with a pair of (T)KO’s to his name and a truck load of hype behind him. He is an internet favorite and both of his finishes have been used as highlights on ESPN and Island Sports 1. He is hoping to use his Muay Thai skills to clinch and dominate Julian Day and get another finish!

Julian Day was knocking on the door to a title shot but came up short as he was KO’d his last fight. Not one to sit and cry he is ready to get back in the game and believes with a brutal win over Marky Mark he could find himself on the doorstep to another shot at gold. He believe his boxing skills are enough to finish Wahlberg. This one is going to be fireworks, I’m picking Mark Wahlberg to get the upset win!

Our 205lb title fight between Martyn Ford v Frank Karlsson is next!

Martyn Ford has been nothing short of dominant in his 4 fights, finishing 3 in the first round and dominating all 3 rounds of his only non-finish. He is a wrestler with slick submissions and a very sturdy chin. The winner of 2 Submission of The Night awards he captured the title his last fight and doesn’t see himself losing it anytime soon.

Frank Karlsson has been very vocal about being the best 205lb fighter on The Island and now will get the chance to prove it. Karlsson believes he is a stylistic nightmare for Ford and has been harassing him on social media, buzzing him the following, “Haha this will be the shortest title reign in history, soon that belt will be where it belongs!”

Strong words from the challenger, but I’m picking him to win! New LHW Champion?!

Octavion Prompethius v Peter Potter are the next warriors stepping foot in the cage!

You’d have to think this is a title eliminator bout, winner gets the shot but who knows! Both men are ready to throw down!

5 victories between them and 5 finishes as well, you can bet this one doesn’t see the judges. Prompethius is a feared striker with hands that fighters have accused of being filled with titanium, the dude hits like a truck. He is determined to get that title shot and take his place at the Welterweight kingpin on The Island.

Peter Potter is a brawler with the facial hair to make women cry, it is rumored that under his beard lies another fist, and he is also rumored to have lost his virginity before his father. Peter Potter is a monster who many think is the best Welterweight on The Island. This fight has the fans split as to whom to pick…this was a tough one, but I’m going with Peter Potter.

Afonso Cabral v Billy Joe is our CO-MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING!

This one Is for the Super Heavyweight Championship! This one is a tad odd, Afonso Cabral is a beast of a man, and make no mistake he is my pick in this fight. The guy is just plain scary, weighing in at 300 pounds, 6-0 record, and 4 first round finishes!

Billy Joe is 3-2, weighs about 200 pounds soaking wet and is coming off of a 1st round (T)KO loss which his face looked like something out of a horror movie. Billy Joe, I applaud your humongous balls, but I’d be an idiot to pick you in this fight.

Afonso Cabral for the win!

THE MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING FEATURES TWO OF MY PERSONAL FAAAAVORITE ISLAND FIGHTERS!

Rick James v Jonny Bones Junior for the Middleweight title!

Now everything I said about the previous fight, forget it! I love these two guys! 6-0 V.S. 2-1 but who cares! The smack talk for this fight is worth it! Both men are notorious for dabbling with a little Booger Sugar, a little Barry White, a little of the Devil’s Snow, a little Nose Candy. Despite that, they are both very entertaining fighters both in and out of the cage!

These men love to go for the finish and fight at a fast pace (I wonder why?), and will be looking to end this one quickly as well (I wonder why?).

Rick James has 6 wins, all finishes and all have looked extremely impressive and has earned his title shot. JBJ has talked his way into a title shot, and I for one couldn’t be happier about it! This guy should be 3-0, I had him taking the 2nd round and ahead in the 3rd until a B.S. stoppage by the ref, but the MMA gods have prevailed and given JBJ a second chance, he will not take it lightly!

I hate doing this, so I’m not! I’m sticking with my heart and going with the upset! JBJ to win the title! I know the after party will be awesome!! Don’t let me down!

JUSTIN CREDIBLE, OUT!
