Event Preview: Ascension 96 : 3Mil Part 2

This hasn't been the best of weeks for yours truly but I am going to get it out to get this last preview done! Its time for the Ascension 3 million tournament part 2! We have long time former undisputed p4p king Jeremy Tonal in our main event, he is also the undisputed favorite to win this thing. Without further ado lets get to the fights!

Opening Bout
Jackson vs Goldsmith
We get this card started in the 185 division with two well round fighters looking to climb the ladder in the 185 division here at Ascension. Jackson enters the cage with exceptional boxing, wonderful muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Opposing him is Goldsmith with exceptional boxing, superb muay thai, wonderful wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Neither of these fighters are particularly good anywhere, both having been finished by strikes and submissions before. Jackson does hold a significant experience advantage which I think will carry him to a decision victory.

Thomas vs Gambler
And now its tournament time folks! We has the winless Thomas going up against a boxing and wrestling machine in Gambler. Thomas is definitely going to want to keep this fight standing so he can utilize his sensational boxing and muay thai. But his wonderful wrestling and bjj purple pale in comparison to his opponents grappling skills. Gambler has sensational boxing, wonderful muay thai, sensational wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Gambler hits really hard and nobody wants to be on the receiving end of those punches. Thomas is a real unknown as to how he will preform so I am going with the proven commodity in Gambler to win by TKO in this one.

Gracie vs Bitonti
One of the most well rounded fighters in the tourney enters the cage for our next bout in Gracie. With his elite boxing, exceptional muay thai and wrestling in addition to his bjj black belt. Bitonti is primarily a grinder who uses his sensational wrestling and bjj brown bel to suffocate his opponents with top control and ride that out to a decision win. Bitonti also bring exceptional boxing and wonderful muay thai to the table as well. I think this is Gracie' fight to lose. His submission skills are top notch but I don't know if he will be able to submit Bitonti. More than likely I see Gracie using his striking to work over Bitonti for the decision win.

Bayot vs Rei
The most recent winner of a million dollar tournament that wasn't in league format takes the cage in our next bout. Bayot vs Rei is a match up of big time strikers so I fully expect these to to slug it out until one of them goes out. Bayot has elite boxing, exceptional muay thai, wonderful wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Opposing him is the Syn HW million dollar tourney winner Rei with his sensational boxing and muay thai, wonderful wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Rei might be entering the cage with an injury or a cut but that is yet to be determined. Rei is well known to hit hard and have a ton of heart. Has been competing at heavyweight almost exclusively but his real home may be 205 in the future. Anyway, I think Budo is going to pull off the round one victory by TKO.

Cabrera vs Perez
Moving to the featherweight class for a briefly break from the 3 million dollar tournament as Cabrera takes on Perez. Both fighters are talented strikers and grapplers so it will be interesting to see who has the better game plan in this one. Cabrera enters the cage with exceptional boxing, wonderful muay thai, exceptional wresting and a deadly bjj black belt with 9 submission wins to its credit. Opposing him is Perez with his elite boxing, wonderful muay thai, sensational wrestling and bjj black belt as well. This fight will go the the mat at some point during this fight I promise you that. As to who wins once it goes there, I have no idea. Just like who will win this fight, I honestly don't have a clue. But for the sake of picking someone, I will go with Perez by decision.

Machine vs Valentine
In our next tournament fight we have something you dont see very often at the 205 class is a 20 cm reach advantage for one fighter. In a close fight stylistically that may be the difference here. Machine enters the cage with sensational boxing, elite muay thai, sensational wrestling, and a bjj brown belt. Opposing him is Valentine with sensational boxing, exceptional muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt that isn't to be taken lightly as it has 3 submission wins to its credit. Machine has a 20 cm reach advantage over Valentine but Valentine could use that to secure a take down and take one of those long limbs home with him. If it stays a striking contest, I give the edge to Machine. I think Machine will win this fight by TKO.

Opening Main card Fight
Denjat vs McThornbody
A long time top 5 light heavyweight enters the cage for our first main card fight of the evening in McThornbody. Both fighters have big time power and the skills to pay the bills. Denjat enters the cage with exceptional boxing, sensational muay thai, elite wrestling, and a bjj brown belt. to counter that, McThornbody has elite boxing, sensational muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt as well. Denjat primarily relies on his wrestling to take the fight to the mat where he unleashes some very heavy ground and pound to bust open his opponents or separate them from consciousness. McThornbody on the other hand loves a good kick boxing fight, doesn't seem to enjoy the finer arts of grappling but when he hits you, you may consider a different profession in life. McThornbody has shown a suspect chin in the past and it may come back to haunt him here, Denjat by TKO.

Featured Main Card fight
Klice vs Holyshit
Headed up one weight class for our featured main card fight of the evening. Both of these fighters are big time sluggers in the heavy weight division which seems to be chalk full of guys who hit really freaking hard, must come with the territory or something. Klice enters the cage with elite boxing, exceptional muay thai, sensational wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Opposing him is Holyshit with his sensational boxing, wonderful muay thai and wrestling and a bjj brown belt as well. I doubt this fight will go to the mat at these two fighters love to stand and trade leather as long as possible. However, that could turn detrimental for Holyshit as he has been stopped 4 times by strikes in the past while Klice has never been stopped by strikes. Because of that, I am going with Klice by TKO in this one.

Co Main Event
Grossman vs Mackenzie King
We now get to see the man we dethroned Jermey Tonal as the p4p king of the world in Mackenzie King who took Tonal to a decision and took the GAMMA belt from his hands. Grossman is no slouch as I am certain we will see an all out war between these two fighters. Grossman enters the cage with Elite boxing, sensational muay thai and wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Mackenzie King on the other hand, possesses sensational boxing, muay thai and wrestling to go with a bjj black belt. Mackenzie King has rarely heard the judges scorecards in his career as he has finished his opponents in 16 of his career 18 wins. Grossman on the other hand has a lot of experience in hearing the judges scorecards and that might be a difference to watch come the tale end of this fight. A TKO is possible in this fight but I don't know how likely it is in this case as both fighters are extremely talented in every facet of the game. Its a tough fight to call but I think Mackenzie King will take a close decision victory.

Main Event
Tonal vs Perry
And now we get to our main event of the evening and probably the most anticipated fight of the 3 million dollar tournament first round in tonal vs Perry. Tonal has rebounded nicely after losing his GAMMA title to Mackenzie King securing victories in his last two bouts, Perry is coming off a loss in his last fight but is still a very hot fighter being 4-1 in his last 5 fights. Tonal enters the cage with elite boxing, sensational muay thai, elite wrestling and bjj brown belt. Opposite the cage from him is Perry with his sensational boxing, exceptional muay thai, elite wrestling and a bjj black belt. Tonal is legendary for his chin and destructive GnP that has finished so many of his opponents in the past. Perry is no slouch in terms of power but I doubt he has the power needed to crack a chin as mythically strong as Tonal's is. I fully expect this fight to be a back and forth battle taking place in the kickboxing, clinch and ground facets. I think Tonal is going to put Perry to sleep in the 3rd round of this fight.

There you have it folks! I know its later that I announced earlier this week but its done! Now go out and buy your tickets because this is going to be a unforgettable card!!! This is Alexi Zaitev signing off, good bye!
