Issue # 2
Author: Runt

Event: GKNY 56 – 12.03.2016 @ Hard Knocks - Amsterdam

Who’s ready for blood!?

It is time for the second instalment of the Dirty Box, an article series devoted to delivering MMA & KT fans explosive fights previews, interviews and ground breaking news reports.

This time around we are taking a good look at Gamma Kids #56, getting on a jet plane and shooting over to Amsterdam for this one, you can bet competing fighters will have zero purse left after hitting the red light district post fight – I for one will be the first in line at the after party – so I’ll let you know!

We have a Featherweight confrontation over the championship belt, and we have an undefeated future Lightweight Champion contender to look at, so, let’s not waste any time and get down to the action!

UNDERCARD

#1 - Dean Fellows (5-4) vs Dyllz Tahere (1-1) – Lightweight

Preview: Tahere is getting a lot better every week, a young Kiwi fighter, I expect Dyllz Tahere to pick up the decision win, though, and with the right game plan he could easy knock out Fellows.

#2 - Conway Titties (4-4) vs Simon Berg (2-4) - Middleweight

Preview: Mr Titties! What a name! This fight looks to be waged on the feet, where we will enjoy 3 rounds of watching Berg slapping around titties! Both fighters are on a losing streak, but Berg looks set to pick up the decision victory cleanly here - provided he can avoid the nipple.

#3 - Artem Obukhov (5-4) vs Global Offensive (2-1) – Featherweight

Preview: Both fighters are on a one fight win streak and come into this confident, and both fighters won that fight by submission. Artem is the fan favourite, while Global is technically ahead from a skill perspective. Tough fight to call, but I am putting money down that Global Offensive taps him out in round one.

#4 - Emre Hussain (4-0) vs Jack Stone (3-4) - Welterweight

Preview: This is a plain and simple execution. The Iranian, Emre Hussain is undefeated stopping all 4 of his fights in the first round. Look for Hussain to dominate, and someone get the stretcher ready for Jack Stone. Hussain by extreme violence.

#5 - Delta Frankzola 8-4 vs Chang Thong Song 6-2 – Featherweight

Preview: Both of these fighters are on a good run of momentum and confidence so expect some attitudes. Frankzola is on an impressive three fight streak and is turning heads, on paper he is slightly better in the clinch and kicks, but that is his only advantage. Song has won four from his last five fights, he is the better rounded fighter and leads his opponent in most skills. Thong Song, is the favourite to win amongst the fans, and I think he wants it more. Chang Thong Song to win by second round submission.

The laser light show has started, and the line at the bar is empty, that can only mean it is time for the main card!

MAIN CARD

#1 - Moreira (268262) vs Chaffinch (268500) - Middleweight

We have a pretty darn good main card to take a gander at tonight, a young Brazilian wrestler - Sergio "Biloca" Moreira is on the trot after a decision victory, bringing the total to 6 wins and 4 losses. He is the heavier of the two, and, has a 9cm height advantage.

To take him on, the much smaller fighter is from the UK and brings a record of 4 wins and 2 losses with him. Also a wrestler, and also coming off a decision win. I am sensing a theme here. They’re both fairly even, though Chaffinch has the lead in the Ju-Jitsu department.

Prediction: Both of these fighters are wrestlers. So expect a gritty fight to the death, and just how much of an advantage does Sergio have being the bigger and taller fighter? I don’t actually think it will matter, Chaffinch is a highly skilled submission artist and he will almost certainly go for some submissions on those long dangly limbs. Chaffinch by submission.

#2 - Corleone (267878) vs Jones Ii (264112) - Featherweight

The Featherweights are on fire on this card.

Frankie Corleone is a proud American mixed martial artist. He is undefeated with three wins, and one draw against Cain Jones. Notable though, in his last fight he faced Jones in a rematch and managed revenge scoring a unanimous decision. That’s redemption in my book.

Jupiter “Jammin” Jones Ii. That name is pretty “Jammin” isn’t it? A Canadian, around the same weight of his opponent and has 5cm on him in height. Five wins in a row for the Jammin man, with a total of 6 wins and 3 losses. And the beautiful part, all 6 wins by T(KO). If he keeps it on the feet he could make it 7.

Prediction: They both have a shot, if it stays standing Jones li will jam him. Frankie needs to take it to the ground and finish the fight. I will tip Jammin to take it by KO, but, it is very close and, I am pretty sure I just like writing the word “jammin.”

#3 - Kinshaw (266082) vs Tonon (260659) - Lightweight

It’s good to see so many winning streaks on the card, another one right here. Three in a row for Karter Kinshaw, only one loss tainting his record. His last two wins were by T(KO) and his only loss was by submission. A born and bred American, he is a sensational wrestler with outstanding striking skills to bully the toughest face

“The Lion Killer” Gary Tonon is trying to hide his split 6-6 record. But his roar is strong as he is on a one fight win, and on paper he has better stand up than his opponent. Also an American, Tonon needs to take this fight to the ground. Kinshaw is no stranger on the ground so it will be no easy task.

Prediction: Tonon will teach the Lion Killer a lesson on the ground. Ground and pound style.

CO-MAIN EVENT - Stone (268261) vs Odenson (270506) - Lightweight

I want to discuss Vic Stone for a moment. This kid has some real solid testicles. As of this article he weighed in at 145lbs. Wow. In a 155lbs division ….. What is even more surprising is that he has picked up wins against big lightweights before. Five wins and two losses in total. His opponent currently has 23lbs on him. That is a big ask. Key note, he has never been knocked out before, which is a sign of a decent chin. And on that same note, he has also never knocked anyone out before either. The brains at GKNY have the perfect test for him.

Thor "The Hammer" Odenson. It has a very “superhero” or “superior god” ring to it, don’t you think? Whichever it is, he is no joke. Nine straight wins, undefeated, five of those wins by stoppage with a T(KO) finish. Impressive resume. He definitely has better striking, and looking at his record he has some power. Thor is also fighting out of Sydney Australia, when traveling that far it has the potential to take a toll on a fighter’s health.

Prediction: I can’t help but look at this fight as an innocent and cute, white fluffy little baby sheep that found its way into an octagon. Unluckily for fluffy, a mighty god was waiting to hammer its skull in. Poor fluffy. If Thor is healthy come fight night, he will take this fight and win by decision. He is 20bls heaver, better on his feet and knows how to keep a fight there. Easy win there for the taking.

MAIN EVENT - Clavette (264247) vs Chambers (264917) - FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

It’s that fight you read this far for, the main event. And what a cracker it is. The featherweight strap is on the line. We could have a new champion!

Introducing first, the challenger. A Canadian wrestler, fighting out of Montreal. He stands 159cm tall and is looking for a fight. He has four wins and zero losses. Loves ground and pound. Johny “Quick” Chambers!

Also fighting out of Montreal, he is twenty three years old holding up a record of six wins, with only one loss. He is 179 cm tall. He is, the current, GKNY, Featherweight CHAMPION! Raoul Clavette!

Chambers is a full 20 cm shorter than his opponent, which could play a massive part in this fight. Even as a shorter fighter he does have 4 wins, all by KO, and has the lead in skill for everything except BJJ heading into this fight. I was lucky enough to get an official statement from the manager of Chambers, Big Zeek while writing this article:

“Raoul Clavette is a solid fighter. He looks like he has an amazing ground game but chooses to stand and bang and KO his opponents. But I honestly think Chambers is on a different level and will dominate this fight from start to finish. I think that he can beat him in the stand up, or take him down any time he wants and ground and pound him to a win.”

Pure confidence coming out of the Chambers camp. I guess we will find out soon enough if indeed, size matters.

On the other side of the contest, Clavette is on a three fight run, all by TKO. This is his second title defence. We contacted the camp to get a statement, but unfortunately they chose to not respond. Take that whichever way you will. Fans will be swarming for this fight, they love him. Expect a lot of cheering if he wins, and if he loses then take cover, you might get hit with a beer can because the fans will boo the house down.

Prediction: A tough one to call this time. I am going to back Chambers. If he follows through with a ground and pound game plan, stays aggressive and hunts for the finish I believe he will find it in spectacular style. Chambers is too strong in the wrestle. If Clavette can somehow find a way to keep the fight standing he does have a better chance of not dying. But the fight is still loss either way. Chambers via ground strikes, round two.

That’s all we have for this issue, as always thank you to our sponsors Underworld Clothing for providing the table clothes and blood rags.

Until next time, train hard.
