Ray & Jay's Excellent MMA Adventure - UPF 48: Jones Vs. Sumn

Event Preview: UPF 48: Jones Vs. Sumner
Ultimate Pit Fighting (300K+ ID)
2016-05-07, Hilo, Hula's
Author:Dale Saw

Jay: Well hello there, and welcome to Ray & Jay's Excellent MMA Adventures, I'm Mr. Amazingly Amazing. (Laughs) and this is Father Time himself (gestures at Ray and chuckles) and today we have the pleasure of previewing yet another one of the UPF's awesome PPV events. UPF 48: Jones Vs. Sumner goes down May 7th at Hula's arena in none other then Hilo, HI. The UPF's newest champion, Tom "The Unusual" Jones, defends his light-heavyweight championship for the first time. Plus former UPF champions Ozutsu "Yokozuna" Fukumatsu, Beach Bum, and Phil High all look to put on a champion quality fight. Man this is going to be one hell of a card. But enough jabbering, alright pops what do you say we take a look into the fights on the card.

Ray: Hey everyone, Ray here. Jay's right, this is going to be one action packed night. We start the undercard off with a contest of might as two heavyweights, The Wrestler Ii and Simon Eddles, battle it out for three rounds. Eddles looked really sharp in his last outing and I think he's one of the bright stars of the future. The Wrestler is an excellent wrestler but has come upon hard times since joining the UPF, but all that changes this week as he pops his UPF cherry. The Wrestler Ii by TKO in round 2.
Jay: Hmmm... Ya know what? (Sticks his left hand into his pocket and pulls out a quarter) I know who will win. (Pumps his eyebrows twice) Eh? Heads says Wrestler. (Flips the coin) Ah ha! See I told you The Wrestler Ii would win! Coin says so!

Predictions
Ray: Wrestler Ii by TKO at 1:52 of round 2.
Jay: Wrestler Ii by decision.

Jay: Matt "the wizard" Lethal will test his wizardly ways against Sairanix "Berserker" Lokren. Lethal rides a 5 fight win streak and wants to work his way to the welterweight championship. Lokren had an 8 fight win streak going, and is looking to get the streak back alive. These two are very evenly matched and will make for a very fast paced, face slamming, grit your teeth kinda action. I can't wait. Has Fight of the Night written all over it. It's gonna go the distance but neither fighter will get the edge and will result in a draw. (Laughs)
Ray: I don't know why this fight isn't the main event? Or at least on the main card? This is the fight that I've been waiting for all week. Both of these guys are fierce competitors and are dangerous to be in the cage with. Should be an action packed fight but a draw? Really? Not only will it not be a draw but it wont even go the distance. Both of these fighters are capable of putting the other down. The way I see it if the fight goes into the clinch then Lokren gets the KO. But it don't think that's going to be what happens in the cage this Saturday. I'm going with Lethal by KO early in round 3.

Predictions
Jay: Draw
Ray: Lethal by KO at 0:41 of round 3.

Ray: Moving on to the middleweight division, we have Vrushak Madhura squaring off with Suriname "King Of Congo" Bambele. Bambele is making his UPF debut here riding a 4 fight win streak. I went to take a look at these two fighters this week, at St. Petersburg MMA Gym I gotta chance to see Bambele sparring, and boy let me tell you he looks sharp, but also a little cocky. But I went to take a look at Madhura, as it turns out he isn't doing any training at all. How he plans to win without training is beyond me. Normally I would have picked Madhura here (just because of Bambele's cockiness) but I just can't see myself picking a fighter that doesn't even bother to train. Bambele's streak stays alive with a first round KO.
Jay: Madhura is a mad man. He doesn't train, he lives life on the edge defying the Vegas mafia. But even though the man doesn't train he has somehow managed to pull off a winning record. Some might say its luck, others will say its... Well, luck. Because no one is going to accuse him of having any actual skill. And facing an opponent like Bambele, Madhura will have to call upon that luck once again. And seeing as he might be the luckiest son of a... Yeah, Madhura wins by submission.

Predictions
Ray: Bambele by KO at 1:18 of round 1.
Jay: Madhura by submission at 2:31 of round 2.

Jay: Middleweights are at it again. Daniel "Parklife" Joshua and Oscar Guttuierez will trade blows to the face this Saturday. This fight sucks! Joshua by TKO round 2.
Ray: I don't think this match up sucks at all. I expect this to be a real crowd pleaser. Guttuierez had a tough break in his UPF debut and will be looking for a bounce back win. I expect a great stand up battle here with Guttuierez coming out on top. Guttuierez by decision.

Predictions
Jay: Joshua by TKO at 1:13 of round 2.
Ray: Guttuierez by decision.

Ray: Our main card starts off in the lightweight division. Borat WawaWeeeeewaaaa is scheduled to fight Kizeal "The Kid" Ingram on Saturday. No explanation here. I'm going with WawaWeeeeewaaaa by KO in round 2. If I was WawaWeeeeewaaaa's manager and my fighter lost I would be screaming foul at the top of my lungs. See what happens when we leave for a while Jay? Somehow in our absence Ingram was allowed to join the UPF even though his ID makes him ineligible to fight here and there was no body to bring it to Mr. Saw's attention. We see him tonight, I'm gonna tell him we need a raise!
Jay: Yeah pops, Ingram should not be fighting in the UPF. It was a mistake that somehow got past owner Dale Saw but rest assured he says that will be fixed as soon as the event is finished and Ingram will no longer be in the UPF. But I do have to root for the underdog and UPF fighter Borat, doesn't matter how he wins, as long as he wins.

Predictions
Ray: WawaWeeeeewaaaa by KO at 2:00 of round 2.
Jay: WawaWeeeeewaaaa by KO at 1:38 of round 1.

Jay: Ok so next on the main card sees the UPF's former light-heavyweight champion of the world, Phil High, go up against Alexander "The Thunder Of The North" Yakovlev. Yakovlev has already beaten a former light-heavyweight champion in Beach Bum and looks to show the division that he belongs at the top, maybe even as champ. He currently rides a 4 fight win streak and looks to extend it indefinitely. Of course no one can win them all. Phil on the other hand is the former champion and wants to prove that he still has what it takes to become the champion again. All Phil has to do to win is put down the blunt. But I'm not sure if that'll ever happen. Yakovlev wins but only 'cause Phil is too High to properly respond. Yakovlev by KO in round 2.
Ray: You know Jay, you ever come across somebody that just rubs you wrong? You know, you look at them and you know that you'd never be friends with them. And it's irritating to even talk to them. I don't know why, but that's how I feel about Yakovlev. I just don't like him. High by KO in round 2.

Predictions
Jay: Yakovlev by KO at 3:41 of round 2.
Ray: high by KO at 3:42 of round 2.

Ray: Bantamweights Sum Ting Wong and Lucky Day battle it out for three scheduled rounds. Wong is perhaps the best clinch fighter in the UPF today! And will undoubtedly be trying to clinch up often. Day will need to get this fight to the mat to have any chance of winning. But I just don't see that happening against Wong, his takedown defense is too strong. Wong will clinch up here and knee his opponent to death, scoring a KO victory in round 3.
Jay: Death by hematoma via knees to the dome. That's kinda brutal pops. I personally don't hope for the death of any fighters let alone UPF fighters. (Chuckles) Anyways, I too think that Wong is the most dominate clinch fighter the UPF has to offer, or at least the most active in the clinch. Day's style consist of boxing and if your opponent takes you down then tap them out. But the problem with that is that Wong will not try a takedown, which leaves half of Day's normal gameplan useless. The other half is only boxing and not dirty boxing, therefore when Wong gets the clinch Day's entire gameplan is squashed. Day will need to pull a rabbit out of a hat here. He needs some real magic. Wong by TKO (knees) in round 2.

Predictions
Ray: Wong by KO at 2:11 of round 3.
Jay: Wong by TKO at 0:59 of round 2.

Jay: The final fight on the main card is in the light-heavyweight division as yet another former champion steps into the cage. Beach Bum was UPF champ from 7-18-2015 until 9-9-2015 where High took the championship from him, Saturday he faces a dangerous and very heavy handed Hank Olamon. Olamon has been quickly rising through the ranks and is looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss to top contender Jake Blade. Bum has lost 2 of his last 3 fights and a loss here could be detrimental to his career. Bum desperately needs a takedown if he is to stand a chance against Hank. Having arguably better boxing, Mauy Thai, and wrestling Mr. Amazingly Amazing says Olamon will win by KO in the first.
Ray: Olamon had a tough outing last time, and things are only going to get tougher this week. Beach Bum is a formidable opponent. With Olamon's power, if he can keep this fight stand then, you're probably right Jay, Olamon wins early, the problem is Olamon has never had anyone attempt to take him down, ever. So his takedown defense is a big question mark. If Bum gets the takedown, Olamon's a goner. With limited information I'm gonna have to go with my heart here, and my heart doesn't pick Bums. Olamon by KO round 1.

Predictions
Jay: Olamon by KO at 1:22 of round 1.
Ray: Olamon by KO at 0:22 of round 1.

Ray: Now it's time for our first main event, which has another former champion but this time of the super-heavyweight division. Ozutsu "Yokozuna" Fukumatsu is looking to jump back into the cage with the champ to get his belt back. But the man that stands in his way looking to prove the he should be the one to step into the cage with the champ is Pittsburgh Steelers. This is a great match up. It should live up to all the hype. I believe that either fighter is capable of taking this. But I'm gonna go with Steelers on this one because I would like to see someone new go for the belt. Steelers by decision.
Jay: Well I agree that it would be nice to see a new face fighting for the belt. And to be honest, I think Steelers would make a great champ. But he needs to beat Fukumatsu first, which I feel won't be an easy task for Steelers. Fukumatsu has a great chin and I feel that is going to be the deciding factor. Steelers will not KO Fukumatsu. (Laughs) Fukumatsu will probably score the KO himself. Fukumatsu to KO Steelers in round 2.

Predictions
Ray: Steelers by decision
Jay: Fukumatsu by KO at 1:52 of round 2.

Jay: And now, it's time! The UPF proudly presents it's main event of the evening, scheduled for 5 rounds in the light-heavyweight division. Omar Sumner will challenge Tom "The Unusual" Jones for the UPF light-heavyweight championship of the world. Sumner will have his hands full in this fight as Jones is a monster. The champ will hold a slight advantage in this one. My guess is that Sumner will attempt to take this one into the clinch where he will put his dirty boxing to use. I see Jones keeping it standing but at a distance. If Sumner gets the clinch then the champ will have his work cut out for him. But I don't really see that phasing the champ and I see an easy victory for him. Jones to keep his belt, via KO in the first.
Ray: I'm gonna go with the challenger on this one because... Well, just because I can. I feel he's underrated and is one of the only fighters capable of putting the champ down. Sumner will narrowly win by decision after a tough 5 round drawn out brawl, possibly even a split decision.

Predictions
Jay: Jones by KO at 4:57 of round 1.
Ray: Sumner by decision.

Jay: Boy 'o boy am I excited for this weekends card. Man, I can't wait! I mean come on, there's 3 former champs, a couple top contenders, and one of the closest championship match ups we've seen. Plus there is gonna be a booth with AnonymouS gear available at affordable pricing. UPF Sports Book has the odds up. And all this has... Wait I'm getting word that UPF owner Dale Saw would like to say a few words.
(Dale Saw walks onto the set smiling and waving)
Dale: Hey every one I just wanted to offer an official apology to Billy Bush and Borat WawaWeeeeewaaaa for the inconvenience of fighting a fighter that does not meet the requirements of the org. I will personally handle the situation and promise that this kinda thing will not happen again. Thank you everyone, have a great night, and enjoy the card. (Waves and walks off of the set)
Jay: Well that was new. (Laughs) I think that's about it. Make sure to tune in to next weeks Ray & Jay's Excellent MMA Adventures where we discuss UPF 49: Hapitchou - McCarthy 2 which takes place at The Pipeline on the 14th of May. So there you have it. My job is done for now. I'm off to take a dab. Peace I'm out.
Ray: Before I sign out, I just wanna give my favorite fighter some words of encouragement "Dwayne, don't let it get you down! Couple of guys got lucky that's all, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while. Keep your head high and shoulders back and everything will work out." Ok until next week, this is Ray signing off. (While walking off the stage yells) "BOSKINS ALL THE WAY, FUTURE CHAMP!"
