MMA Tycoon Game Updates and More

Editorial by Mike Tycoon

Thought it was about time I wrote a little editorial to talk about the updates to the game, both recent upcoming, as well as the rest of the goings on at Tycoon Towers.

We had a good discussion in the forums about the game engine, as several people felt it was time for an update. Lots of ideas were banded about and we've implemented a couple already.

1. We now have a damage vs accuracy slider for GNP. The old system would equal 50% on the slider, so work from there. The main reason was to help people keep the fight on the floor more easily by landing more strikes.
2. In general the % of strikes landed on the ground was increased.
3. Counter takedowns off leg and body kicks has been significantly increased.

Coming fight engine changes.
1. The biggest change will be to physicals. They're currently pretty much redundant, as all top fighters have 90+% in all of them. So I'm going to cut everyone's physicals down to around 70% and put a skill cap of 70% to allow people to vary their fighters' physical attributes.
2. That will mess with the overall skill cap a little bit. So to solve that problem, we're going to have a joint skill cap for primaries and secondaries but primaries are going to count as more points towards that cap, effectively to let everyone keep their primary and secondary skills where they are. However, it will let people vary things a bit in terms of going for more secondary points if they want to scarifice one of the primaries.
3. I'll also likely be adding a "Physical Beast" option on fighter creation along with the "Granite Chin" etc, which will allow your fighter a slightly higher physicals cap.

Once these changes are done, I don't have any preference as to what we get done next.

Outside of MMA Tycoon, life's pretty busy.

As most of you will know, I had a kid in December. He's very good and we couldn't ask for much more... Obviously I'm knackered and less productive at the moment though! AAAAAAND on cue, he just woke up from his afternoon nap. :)
Me and Mrs Tycoon are also getting married on July 9th. Yep... July 9th... UFC 200... The week when there are 4 UFCs. Yay.

There is one fight on that card which is there to make a killing on in play betting too by the way. Amanda Nunes vs Miesha Tate. If that goes out the first round (which it probably will), I expect Nunes to have won that first round quite handily but she pretty much always gasses really badly in late R2 into R3 and I expect Tate to take over. If you can get on in play at the end of R1 or even into R2, she could very well be reaching decent underdog value.

Betting wise in general, Bet MMA is doing pretty well now. Lots of good tipsters have come on board, site traffic is doing well, we're getting lots of signups via the app and the top guys are getting decent sales for their tips. I've made $235 from selling mine at roughly 10-15 sales per event at $5 each.

If you're in the UK, pretty much all the top bookmakers, like MMA William Hill betting now offer MMA odds. Lots of them have some really great props that you can take advantage of, such as over 0.5 rounds and even some of the NOT bets that have been in the US for ages, which are gold, e.g. X doesn't win by KO.

Back to MMA Tycoon, the App seems to be doing really well in terms of getting new people in. It's a complex game though, so I do think we're struggling a little bit to convince those sort of App types to commit to learning it properly and putting the time and effort into something which isn't a quick fix. I think it's been worthwhile putting all that time into the app though and hopefully long term it proves very useful in growing the site.
