sland Combat 4 Preview
This event is looking to be the best event of all Island Combat events so far! We have another ten fights, five of these are title bouts.

The opening fight is in the Heavyweight division featuring Alexandre “The Arm Collector” Garcia and Alex “Big Mac” MacAndrew. Alexandre had an trouble with standup artists. He was knocked out in 39 seconds. But when he is allowed to play his game he is lethal with an 5 win in the row award. He goes for an early takedown then goes into fast submissions. Alex comes in with his opening fight, so I cannot talk about him since he had no fights yet. So I cannot choose an favorite.

The second fight is in the Welterweight division featuring Franco “The Mustache” Hupp and Marius “The Roman” Gladius. Franco comes into this fight with an recent manager change. But he has an great recored before this and ended his last fight in 34 seconds of the first round. Franco starts off normally in striking distance trying for strikes form there then tries for an clinch when he connects beforehand. This kid has amazing punching power so Marius has to watch out! Marius won versus Patrick Krupok in his last fight at Island Combat One, due to submission in 34 seconds of the first round. So he also has the ability to end an fight quickly. Marius also comes in with an 3 win streak. So in my professional opinion the favorite is Franco he has stopping power and know’s when to use a clinch.

The third fight is in the Welterweight division featuring Ivan “The Eastern Assassin” Maksim and Richard “Roller” Machan. Ivan has above average takedown defense shows in his last fight. Maoism also seems very calm while in the clinch which is an great plus if the fight goes there. Ivan also has the ability to land some damaging blows form striking distance. Richard comes into this fight after an loss to Nate Gonzalez at Island Combat One. Richard will stay standing and at striking distance till he see’s an opportunity to go for an counter takedown. But he has also been beat down here as well. But adding to this if you allow him too he will just knock u out from the standing position as he did before. So in my professional opinion the favorite is Ivan if he can keep it standing, he has better power.

The fourth fight is in the Welterweight division featuring Jesse “The Karate Nerd” Enkamp and Anthony “Cerebral” Graham. Jesse  Won versus Dave Tran in Island Combat 2 not too long ago. Jesse loves to throw leg kicks form an distance to hinder and slow down his opponent. He also has the ability at striking distance to be a threat to most fighters. But he also has been knocked out in the first round as well so anything can happen with this guy. Anthony come in with an victory over Jake Blake at Island Combat 2. Blake likes to take the fight into the clinch land some strikes then perform a takedown into his opponents guard. But if you let Anthony stay in the clinch for too long, he will eat you and spit you out. SO in my professional opinion the favorite is Jesse he knows how to slow down an opponent specially effective versus an fighter like Anthony.

The fifth fight is in the Middleweight division featuring Hope Sing “Hyun Ae” Jung and Mateo “Rodriguez” Alejandro. Hope come sin after losing his title to Jake Belcher at Island Combat One. He actually has an two lose record which we know is not good for an fighter too have in his head. He has shown that if you can control him, he will most likely loose that fight. His major strengths include his ability to perform successful takedowns and too continually change his position. he is very flexible it seems as well as slippery. His opponent Mateo come in after an win versus Milly Rock at Island Combat One. Mateo likes to throw a lot of combo’s that can devastate an opponent if it lands. But sometimes he just punches the air. But his stopping power is something all his opponents need to be worried about. but he does have an problem with his ground game. So in my professional opinion the favorite is Hope if he can keep the fight on the ground where he can control it.

The sixth fight is for the Super Heavyweight title between “The Epals” Rudy Mar Binay and Cann “Abbis” Kush. Rudy come sin after an win versus Kyle Harris at Island Combat One. Rudy has the ability to japan opponent quickly so best bet to beat him is to either stay standing or check his takedowns. he has an problem with opponents with superior BJJ defense shown in his loss to Brutus Beefcake. Cann come sin with an two win streak beating both fighters in the first round. He has violent jabs that have a lot of power behind them. but he can also change to combos which he is equally as sub par with them as well. SO in my professional opinion the favorite has to be Cann he showed he can escape from the ground and if it stays standing he will knockout Rudy.

The seventh fight is for the Light Heavyweight title between Kaleva Vettenranta and John “Submission Artist” Bravo. Kaleva comes in with an amazing six win streak when he was in with Highland Games. Most of these wins did not leave the first round. Kaleva will try to close the distance early with an takedown to hi opponent. He then will try to work his submission game if his ground and pound does not finish off his opponent. So he is lethal with two barrels on the ground so best bet is too either escape from him. John on the other hand also prefers to keep the fight on the ground. He has had some issues when he is not on the ground. His favorite way to submit someone is the use off an Kimura. So in my professional opinion the favorite is Kaleva if he an win with his ground and pound.

The eight fight is for the Welterweight title between Nate “Chollo Gangsta” Gonzalez and Pyry Kontio. Nate comes in with an eight win streak which is very impressive. Nate prefers to keep the fight standing and if you can keep him down it is your best bet. But he has also proven that he is no chum when on the ground as well, he is very slippery. But he has also great submission game, but when he does this he goes for a clinch against the ropes then an takedown after when he can. Pyry actually seems he may have an better standup game than Nate. He also likes to use the clinch then go for an takedown after. But he does have the problem of doing to many takedowns making it obvious for his opponent to make a counter move against him. So in my professional opinion the favorite is nobody it is an very even fight.

The ninth fight is in the Middleweight division featuring Jake “The Talent” Belcher and Kona “The” Bud. He recently lost his Welterweight title too Tapio Sammalkorpi at Island Combat 2. Jake has shown time and time again that his BJJ defense is amazing. But it can be gee ten through which was showed in his last fight. Jake also is very flexible and slippery when on the ground so he is no easy customer down there. If he can he will use his ultimate ground and pound against you, which as finished many of his opponents. Kona comes after beating Luna Ploy at Island Combat One. He has above average strikes form striking distance. He likes to go for the head then take leg kicks to his opponents torso. He has five win streak all in the first round. So in my professional opinion the favorite is Kona because it is hard to come back after an title defense.

The main event  fight is an Welterweight title fight between Tapio Sammalkorpi and “Pretty” Peter Potter. Tapio comes back from an victory versus Jake Belcher for his Welterweight title. Tapio comes in with amazing BJJ and will go down with an takedown early then if he can control the fight from the ground he will win. He is an submission expert and he has experience with big fights. Peter Potter is one of my personal favorites in Island Combat. Petter can easily knockout an opponent easily in seconds in the first round. Peter also has above decent clinch defense and can throw clinches against the cage by himself. So in my professional opinion the favorite is Peter he has knockout power for days.
