Before the new organization “Battlezone Fighting Championships” kicks off their first event on Sunday, June 26th, let’s take a look at the matchups going down that night.

Middleweight: BJ “The Prodigy” Penn (4-0-0) vs. Chris “CJ” Johnson (0-1-0)

Penn comes into this fight a clear favorite, having won 3 out of his last 4 fights by a prompt Round 1 TKO.  Though he mainly focuses on having a superb stand-up game with his Muay Thai expertise, he’s no slouch when it comes to wrestling. Johnson, on the other hand, is up for a tight fight. After coming back from an early round 1 TKO, he’ll need to be able to take Penn down to the ground for a chance of success. Will Johnson be down for the count, or will Penn find himself tapping out for his first loss?

Prediction: Penn – TKO

Heavyweight: Shikoku Inshimarino (3-1-0) vs. Ricky “Julian” Bubbles (2-0-0)

This fight will be a tight matchup, with Inshimarino dominating the fight on his feet, and Bubbles dominating the fight on the ground. Though Bubbles has been undefeated as of yet, will Inshimarino’s greater experience lead to him grabbing the win?

Prediction: Inshimarino – Decision

Bantamweight: Chris “Money” Allan (0-0-0) Matty the Viper “MVP” Pritchard (0-0-0)

Both fighters are making their debut here tonight, with Allan being average on both his feet and the ground, and Prithcard dominating the ground but struggling on his feet. Will Pritchard take down and quickly submit Allan before having to weather a storm of hits?

Prediction: Prithcard – Submission

Welterweight:  Leon “Juggernaut” Montega (0-1-0) vs. David Hawk (1-1-0)

Both Hawk and Montega are coming back from losses here, with Hawk recently having been injured by a TKO. Will Hawk’s experience and more well-rounded skillset lead to him taking the win, or will Montega take advantage of the injury to dominate his opponent?

Prediction:  Hawk – TKO

Lightweight: Jose “T.K.O” Aldo (3-0-0) vs. Chris “Money” Mayweather (0-0-0)

Mayweather is making his debut against the experienced Aldo. Mayweather focuses primarily on his stand-up game while his ground game suffers. Will Mayweather give Aldo his first loss, or will Aldo start off his opponent’s career with an “L?”

Prediction:  Aldo - TKO
