Revolution XC 2

Taking place in a Sold Out King Theatre, Revolution XC 2 delivered nine fights in total, including three Title Fights, three KO’s, three Submissions, and three Decisions. All three title fights ended in finishes. Without further ado, Let's get into the bone breaking, head crushing, and punch whiffing action of Revolution XC 2.

Fight #1 D’Wayne Williams vs Jake Blake

At only 19 years old and now 2-0, D’Wayne Williams has wonderful Muay Thai and proficient wrestling, and he could be one to watch as he progresses in his Lightweight mixed martial arts career. He had issues with Blake, as he gave up 4 out of 14 takedowns and missed over 60 punches. However, he landed enough to win a clear unanimous decision, dropping Jake to 3-4.

Fight #2  Vito Scaletta vs Count Foo

The best word to describe this fight was insane. From even before both guys were in the cage, Scaletta was assaulted by an insane fan. Thankfully he was okay, and proceeded to have one of the craziest fights I had seen in a long, long while. This welterweight fight was entirely standup driven, as these two threw caution to the wind and stood and banged. Ultimately, It was Vito, with more punches and some leg kicks, who would improve his record to 6-1 with a clear decision win over Count Foo. Even though his record now sits at 5-3, Foo definitely won a lot of respect with his performance.

Fight #3 Michael Campion vs Jean Claude Jaques Guesteau

Dang that was a mouthful. Even so, J.C.J.G. would end up being the first finished participant of the night, as he fell to a first round kimura to the now 7-3 Campion. The now 3-4 heavyweight will be looking to go .500 in his next fight, and who knows, maybe he’ll have a record as impressive as his name?

Fight #4 Zui Quan Tso vs Ben Jones

Another Heavyweight bout, another first round finish. Tso would end Jones night in 50 seconds with a big punch and brutal hammerfists. Now 10-4, Zui Quan Tso promoted Leviathan Clothing despite trouble putting the shirt on. Jones’ record now sits at 5-2, though at 25 he does have time to pull off a decent career.

Fight #5 Jake Belcher vs Nikolay Luzkhin

After getting KTFO’d by a cocaine infused Rick James at Revolution XC 1, Belcher came back with a vengeance, giving Luzkhin the first defeat in his career with some vicious ground and pound. It was all Belcher when they hit the mat, as he hit Nikolay with strike after strike and never let up until the ref stopped the action with3 seconds left in round 1. Nikolay is only 19 and will have plenty of time to improve his 4-1 record. As for Belcher, he can rest easy having increased his record to 11-5, with all of his wins coming via (T)KO.

Fight #6 Predator Burns vs Issumater Tariaksuq

After beating Cutting Walter Kunz into defeat, Issumater couldn’t get any momentum, as he was dominated in a grapple-heavy encounter with Burns. All judges scored the fight 30-26, and now Issumater’s record falls to 10-4. Predator Burns was intent to pressure his opponent, as he took Tariaksuq down multiple times and manage to get the clinch quite a few times, but he barely did anything other than hold on tight. It was enough, however, as he increased his record to 16-7.

Fight #7 Light-Heavyweight Championship

Kyle Long vs Kaleva Vettenranta

The first of three Title fights ended in dominant fashion, as Vettenranta would get his revenge against the man who took the belt away from him in the first place. He won the title, and improved to 12-4, with a sick Guillotine choke in the first round. Long had no answers for Vettenranta’s ground game, as he got taken down and pounded for a majority of the contest before getting his head almost popped with a guillotine. The former champion now sits at 12-6.

Fight #8 Lightweight Championship

Royal Pain vs Royce Disgracie

In his second title defence, Pain would put the hurt on Royce and submit him with a Rear Naked Choke a mere 2 seconds before the first round ended. Pain was getting struck multiple times throughout the fight, but the moment this went to the ground, he would do his damndest to make Disgracie submit. He would succeed, and move his record to 11-2 while defending his Championship. Royce, now 10-3, was humble in defeat.

Fight #9 Featherweight Championship

Alexander Vermeer vs Martin Luther King Jr.

I don’t know whether King is actually the late civil rights leader or just some loon who thinks he’s the late civil rights leader, but the late stoppage by the ref didn’t help him mentally in any way possible. Either way, the story of this fight was Vermeer proving to be a dominant first Featherweight Champion for Revolution XC. He would stand toe to toe with MLK, but it was the clinch where he dominated the most, as cracked King with punches to the face and body 60 times before finishing him with a big uppercut. King was a non factor throughout the two rounds he fought, as he missed more then he hit and didn’t succeed in any of his 4 takedown attempts, making it no suprise that he stands at 9-3. Congratulations to Vermeer, who now stands at 15-3-1 and 1 nc.

Post Fight Bonuses

Fight of the Fight- Vito Scaletta vs Count Foo.

This fight was intense even before the cage door closed, as Scaletta was almost (T)KOed by a deranged fan. He would survive that and 3 action packed rounds with Foo to win a Unanimous Decision.

KO of the Night- Alexander Vermeer

Although it was a late stoppage, Vermeer’s domination of MLK Jr shouldn’t be taken away from. His uppercut that separated King from his conscious was one one the best of the year, and goes to show you that crazy will only get you so far.

Submission of the Night- Royal Pain

Don’t Call it a comeback, even though it technically was. Pain was getting pelted by Royce Disgracie’s striking until he got the fight to the ground and choked him out with a Rear Naked Choke.

Conclusion

A really balanced show, not as good as Revolution XC 1 but it had its moments. Most impressive was that all three Championship fights didn’t even go to the Championship rounds. A second successful show, and hopefully there will be more to follow.
