Jay's Tycoon Tips

Editorial by Jay Lawrence

The topic for this paper is fighter creation.

Any 19-24 year old fighter is a waste, just don't do it.  There might be some strategy in it for The Island, but really if you want a future fighter, create him as young as possible.  If you want a fighter right now, go with a 25 year old.

If you are creating a 25 year old, just do your 4 QFC fights and get rid of him.  25 year olds can do well in a fighting organization (especially an ID-restricted one) for a short period of time, but they will soon be surpassed by teens.  If you do join a fighting org with your 25 year old, get as many fights in as fast as possible before your fighter becomes obsolete.

18 year old and younger.  This is what separates the newbies like myself from the dominant managers in the game.  The biggest key to creating your 18 year old is be PATIENT.  Like, a lot of patience.  Like the kid is sitting in the back of the car saying, "Are we there yet?" for 3 hours and you just keep driving without saying a word.

If you can afford a 16 or 17 year old, do it.  Otherwise take the default 18 and run with it.  Most recommend getting physicals up first (strength, speed, balance, conditioning, agility, flexibility).  However, if you train your physicals beyond 12 they might hide your fighter's hidden value.  Many managers will train their physicals up until the 18 year old is just below 1k skills (can still do level 1 QFC) then fight your fighter in the QFC to try and scout his hidden value.  Some managers might sack their project after the first fight if he doesn't pop the correct hidden or for many other reasons.  This can be covered in another article and is extensively talked about in the MMATycoon forum.

After this point train your fighter for the style you want him to fight. Get him sparring, work on secondaries, and prepare him for his first real fight.  When you are ready, sign your fighter up with an organization that will suit him.  I recommend ID restricted orgs until your fighter gets closer to peaking.
