 Prelims:

Wally Markberg vs Monty Fernandez

Preview:

An opening fight between two guys who lost their MMA debuts, they will both be looking to rebound here.  Monty Fernandez got schooled in a boring clinch-fest in his first fight, he wasn’t able to mount any offence; with his back against the cage the whole fight.  Markberg was submitted in his first fight, however he did actually win two rounds quite convincingly, showing some good wrestling with takedowns and top control.  This leads me to think Markberg will take this fight, although he also had very little offence from the ground, so I don’t believe it will be a finish, Markberg via lay and pray.

Wally Markberg via Unanimous Decision

Marvin Gaye vs Clubber Lang

Preview:

A fight in the Lightweight division; that whilst not featuring a particularly high quality of fighter, should be a fun scrap to watch.  Marvin Gaye lost his first fight in a competitive decision, in which he showed he clearly favours the ground game, with no interest in striking at all.  Clubber Lang was taken down and submitted in the first round, so he’ll be looking to keep this one standing, I’m hearing he’s a brawler with a bit of pop in his hands.  This should be a back and forth fight, with Gaye’s takedowns and ground game giving Lang problems in the early going, but eventually, Gaye’s cowardice towards the striking game will catch up to him, he’ll get caught with a combination, he’ll go down and the referee will pull Lang off of him.

Clubber Lang via TKO (Round 2)

Cheech Gona vs Tiki McGee

Preview:

This middleweight matchup is quite simple.  Tiki McGee has a background in wrestling; will want to get the takedown and ground and pound his opponents, doing very little else. Gona is a BJJ practitioner who has no route to victory other than forcing a ground fight and a submission.  Gona’s BJJ is far more advanced than McGee’s, so a McGee takedown followed by a Submission from the guard of Gona seems to be the order of events here.

Cheech Gona via Submission (Round 1)

Brutus Leagatius vs Jeff Dahmer

Preview:

Two powerful Heavyweights who specialise in Muay Thai making their debut.  It’s hard to predict because we know so little about either of them, I think it is a safe bet to say one of them wins by knockout.  When you factor in that Leagatius is managed by Peel Steel, and Dahmer is managed by…. Some other guy, I think it is a safe bet to say that Leagatius wins by knockout, early.

Brutus Leagatius via KO (Round 1)

Grogory Damkratov vs Snoop Blue

Preview:

On paper it looks an evenly matched fight, but it is not likely to play out that way.  Snoop Blue’s best hope of winning would seem to be takedowns and ground control; as he is the better wrestler, but a submission is unlikely. Damkratov is a substantially harder hitter, add to that that he is likely to be almost 30 pounds heavier on fight night and it doesn’t look so good for Blue.  Blue may have some initial success embracing the grind, but it is only so long before he gets hit by the bigger man.  Blue showed good heart coming back to win from being rocked in his last fight, but I think this time he will stay down.

Grogory Damkratov via TKO (Round 1)

Main Card:

Johnny Leopold vs Clarence Morrow

Preview:

A Heavyweight fight comes together here; between a jack of all trades in Clarence Morrow, and an excellent wrestler without much going for him in Johnny Leopold.  I see Leopold getting the takedowns here, Morrow’s guard will be good enough to stay in the fight, but not good enough to finish or mount significant offence himself.  Leopold wins via sloppy Wrestlefuck.

Johnny Leopold via Unanimous Decision

Mark Homicide vs Champions Fight

Preview:

A fight which is set to be a close scrap, Homicide is a better boxer, Fight should have an advantage in the clinch, Homicide’s wrestling is superior, but Fight should have more of a submission threat on the ground.  All of these factors weighed up, two guys who have never fought before, I think we’ll be optimistic and say both guys get their licks in, during an entertaining scrap, with Homicide getting a slight edge due to a style a bit better suited for MMA.

Mark Homicide via Split Decision

Ury Dikunov vs Ryszard Nowak

Preview:

Two guys who’ve both tested the proverbial MMA waters with one fight under their belts.  Dikonov finished his debut by winning in just under two minutes with some mean GNP, whereas Nowak got clocked in just over 30 seconds, turning his lights out.  We haven’t seen a whole lot of either of these fighters, which makes it unpredictable.  They are both grapplers primarily, so it could be a story of whoever gets the takedown and holds their opponent down.  The only thing I can use to predict this is Nowak’s extremely negative reaction to being hit in his first fight, he was on Queer Street after one big shot.  My money is on Dikonov eventually taking Nowak down, and landing a couple of shots to the dome, which will have Nowak covering up for dear life, and the referee scrambling to preserve Nowak’s safety.

Ury Dikunov via TKO (Round 2)

Hugo Freitas vs Joey Karate

Preview:

Joey Karate has to be disappointed, all that hype around his first MMA fight and he ended up lasting all of 1 minute 18 seconds in his debut, before succumbing to a simple, but brutally effective GNP strategy from hotshot wrestler Jonas Lofmark.  The bad news for Karate is that his next opponent will be employing a similar, ground orientated game plan.  The good news for Karate is that Hugo Freitas is 1. Making his debut and 2. Not as good of a wrestler as Lofmark.  Freitas does not have the same amateur credentials as a stud like Lofmark, but apparently he wipes the floor with everyone in the gym at Cozad MMA Hilo, so he shouldn’t be underestimated.  I think this will be Karate’s coming out party, as he steps back into the win column by beating a tough, rugged, but ultimately overmatched Hugo Freitas.  Karate will use his superior striking to pick his opponent apart standing with footwork and kicks, he should also be able to stop enough takedowns to win a convincing decision.

Joey Karate via Unanimous Decision

Middleweight Championship – Happy Face vs Dominic Carter

Preview:

So here we have it; two guys, in their second ever MMA fight, fighting for a belt. Only on MMATycoon.com can we see such wonders and atrocities.  Dominic Carter won a convincing decision in his first fight, showing some good grappling skills in the process.  Not much has been seen of his striking game, but I’m sure we’ll see it in this fight, as Happy Face is a very good wrestler also.  The worrying thing for Carter in this fight has to be the dynamite which appears to be in Face’s hands.  In his first fight, face took his opponent down, quickly stacked the guard and unloaded with some vicious ground and pound.  What’s even more concerning though, is that we are told by sources at Cozad MMA Los Angeles that Face’s greatest strength is boxing.  This could spell trouble for Carter, and we could be forgiven for wondering if he has any advantages at all in this fight.  These guys can both take each other down I believe, but Face has shown to be a more dominant force so far.  I think they will have a close clinch/ground battle for the first round and a half.  They will soon start to tire, and Face’s superior boxing will take over.  A late flurry results in a knockout victory, and the inaugural Middleweight Champion now has the stupidest name in MMA Tycoon history.

Happy Face via TKO (Round 3)
