Q&A with Chris Karter

About Me: Chris Karter

The man you hate to love and love to hate. The Knockout King. The Messiah of Tycoon. White Jesus. Regardless of how you know him, he's undeniably the most polarizing management figure in the MMA landscape. We had a chance to sit down for a quick Q&A with MMATycoon legend and this is what he has to say.

You've been notorious for capturing headlines and making noise you entire career. Has anything changed?

Yeah, I've toned it down a bit.

Any particular reason?

My opponents aren't worthy of the publicity and exposure I bring to the table.

You've had your share of rivalries over the years: Broken Halo Pride, Estefan Chiscano, Jacky Chan, BrainSmasher, International Cocksmen, Vendetta, Qlimax...

I've conquered and defeated every one of them. It's a war of attrition.

Nowadays it's the likes of Ryan Epicity, G Wad, and what is quickly becoming known as The Six Musketqueers. Anything different?

They're weak and flamboyant. They're basically the remnants of Vendetta. I've been smacking them around forever. They'll get dismantled just like Convicted's other advensaries in the past.

Speaking of, what's the state of Convicted Inc these days? Avon, LT,  and so many other great managers have either retired or taken a step back away from the fight game.

Those two guys are legends. They're both the GOAT of their era. As far as the official state of Convicted, we're thriving and prosperous. We might not have the management activity that we've had in the past, but we're still the best alliance in the game.

Dispite many a hiatus, 2016 was a big year for you. You walked away with 5 MMA Golden Globe Awards. That's pretty impressive.

I'm not surprised. I wake up in the morning and piss excellence. To be fair, two of those awards were for spanking the child out of Ryan Epicity.

You've survived numerous roster turnovers. Top fighters retiring. How do you feel about your current roster moving forward?

Donowitz has finally emerged into the fighter he was supposed to be. It's a tough landscape out there for grapplers. It took him forever to crack the top 10 but better late than never. He's a TWGC Div 1 champ and the current Syn Featherweight champion. I'm not sure how much longer he'll last, he's been in 50+ pro fights, but I'm proud of what he's accomplished. Ozzy McKane has taken a step back but I think EPL will get him back on track - it worked for Abe. Kajun Puno is following in his dads gigantic footsteps and has a title fight in EVO coming up. His career started off up and down but he's 13-1 as a Heavyweight.

Yes, all those guys are great. But they're all over 30 years old. What about the younger generation?

Orlando Diggs and Cristian Tavares are only 25 years old. Orlando's a Budo Rei FC Hall of Famer and Cristian is a two division champion at HFC. They're both young and have cracked the top 10 w/c so I know their future's are bright. I have 3 champions that are 20 years old or younger too. We dominate the ID restricted market.

Who's your most promising fighter under 21 years old?

Genetically Hiroshi Ekaku. Of course the son of Hakuin Ekaku is a beast. They're all succeeding early in their careers but it's not always about how you start your career, so much as how you finish it. I've got 10 guys that are under 21 on my roster and I can see a handful of them cracking the top 10 p4p in the future. When you've got a manager as talented as me, anything is possible.

Thank you and good day.
