Author:Wally Balls

Ladies and gentleman have we got a killer line-up of fights scheduled for you on this 4th installment of Island FC Wednesday Night Fights! Kicking off the nights action is the first of 6 145lb matchups. Doo Choi takes on Raymundo Sweeney in what should prove to be an epic conflict between two elite stirkers looking to rebound from disappointing debuts. Expect to see sparks and fists flying! Up next is the debut of the man known as "The American Hope", Wayne Makoy. Wayne squares off against another debuting fighter, Mark "The Shark" Renolds. Renolds has a slight striking advantage but Makoy's ace in the hole is his elite game planning. This match could be the dark horse fight of the night. Following next is jiu jitsu specialist Lauri Laminaatti testing his skills against notable striker and former PAC 12 collegiate wrestler Troy Palmer Jr. This is a textbook battle between styles. Will the striking and wrestling prowess of Palmer be enough to neutralize the lethal ground skills of Laminaattti? Or will the relentless ground attack of the Finn be too much? King Boomboom is an 18 year old striker with lightning in his fists. He looks to use those fists to spoil the debut of his opponent, Muay thai specialist Ricky Rickston. Rickston has a significant advantage on the feet and will try to use his wrestling and clinch work to neutralize the strikes of King Boomboom. Coming up next we have another sure-fire fight of the night candidate. The pure boxing acumen of Benji Lootin clashes with the muay thai precision of Dan Wilson. Both fighters are equally deadly on their feet so look for Wilson to try and drag this fight to the canvas where he has a significant size and skill advantage over his opponent. In our final 145lb bout Cyu Yakuba looks to build on his impressive debut against the wily jiu jitsu practitioner Huey Pacco. Pacco himself is making his professional debut after amassing an impressive record on the jiu jitsu scene. Pacco has a significant height advantage and will be looking to use those long limbs to wrap up his opponent and make him tap. Kicking off the nights main card is a rematch between The Russian bear Ivan Dragski and Dick “Smash” tater. Dragski was able to eke out a victory in their first bout but you can bet that the man they call Smash is not going to let that happen again. Expect Tater to come out firing on all cylinders looking ot end the fight early with his superior boxing. Dragski knows his weakness and will likely attempt to use his superior wrestling to smother and stifle the more experienced Tater. There is bad blood between these men so expect to see a great fight! Following that is a light heavyweight battle with definite title implications. George Baker, the #3 ranked fighter in the stacked 205 division, puts his undefeated record on the line against the slick submission machine Eugeniy Petrov. Petrov looks to break into the top 5 against baker and get his name into the title mix. A jiu Jitsu phenom, Petrov has both of his wins by way of submission with one loss by knockout and one via judges decision. “Doughnut” Baker has been a knockout machine providing some of the internets most reposted knockout gifs of the past year. A master at utilizing all 8 points of contact Baker hopes to force his way into a title match with a quick and decisive victory over Dragski and put the light heavyweight division on notice! Our co-main event of the evening is a welterweight title match between 2 of the most dominant fighters on The Island! This match will crown the first ever Island FC welterweight champion!! Mister Hankey looks to continue his path of destruction against Joseph Ligambi. Both fighters trade in heavy leather with each having 3 decisive KO victories over opponents with neither man having ever tasted defeat. Wednesday night that will change for one unlucky fighter. While one man will taste the sweet nectar of success and leave the arena draped in gold and the glow of victory, the other will leave with a bruised and battered body and the sad stench of disappointment. And now for our main event! Reigning light 205lb champion Light Heavyweight puts his title on the line against the kickboxing phenom Chung Lee. Lee comes into Island FC riding a three fight win streak, earning himself an immediate crack at champion Light Heavyweight. Both of these gladiators love to keep their feet on the canvas so expect there to be blood! Light Heavyweight has never had a fight go the distance, in fact he has never gone past round 2 in any of his bouts. He will have his hands full as he has never faced a striker with the pedigree or toughness of Chung Lee. This fight is scheduled for 5 rounds but I suspect we will see both men go all out and try to end this one early! This one is too close to make a prediction so come on out Hayashi’s Lounge for Island FC’s Wednesday Nights Fights!!!
