 Out Cold! Promotions has started a new concept, and will be using the 205 division to test it out. Season 1 of the Amateur League starts December 18.
What is the Amateur League?
The Amateur League is a no training league for 25 years old. Fighters will compete against random opponents and will get points based on their performance. No one will face each other twice in a season, unless they get matchup up during the playoffs. To qualify for the playoffs, the fighter will have to complete 8 fights.
What are the "points" and playoffs?
During the season, a ranking will be determined based on points earned from wins. The faster the finish, the more points earned. At the end of the season, the top 8 fighters will then be in the playoffs, which is basically a single elimination tournament, and the wiinner will be crowned the Season Champion.
Who can join, and when to join?
The beauty of the concept is that anyone can join at anytime. If you join early in the season, we will work hard to allow you complete your 8 fights before the season's end. If you join too late in the season, doesn't matter, you can still fight, and you'll be ready for next season.
My fighter sucks, I want to sack him. What happens now?
We expect fighters to get sacked left and right, and it doesn't matter. Just keep in mind that even if you lose a few fights, you can still pull an upset and be crowned Season Champion.
What happens after a season?
We pay the winner, celebrate a little bit, then we start the next season. If we feel like some rules could change to make things better, we tweak them in between seasons. If you enjoyed your fighter, keep him for the next season.
