Welcome to the Hark Knocks arena in Rio as Next Level Nutrition in conjunction with The Wild Den and bookmakers TWD Gambling Den bring you TWD 26 Ronan vs. Postiga.
The event tonight is showcased by the Middle Weight title fight of two great fighters who will be laying it on the line to being the house down. With the Arena at near capacity we are in for some great action. So let’s get the action started…..

185 lbs. 5 x 5 Minute Rounds Elvis Ronan (8-2) v Sergio Postiga (9-2)   185 lbs. title

Elvis was odd on to continue his rein at what a stellar performance he put in. From the outset both men were working at a frenzied pace but showing why he is the champ and why he had the ability to stay there Ronan was throwing and connecting with strikes at a rate vary rarely seen and with a pace that Postiga just could not keep up with. Choosing to use punches and one missed kick Ronan connected with head shots and body shot with an outstanding ease. While Postiga showed grit to take the punishment his defence seemed non-existent as over and over strikes landed. While trying to dish back some pain Postiga found out the hard way the Ronan was equally prepared in defence and a large majority of his attacks missed. Pushing the fight to the second round just allowed for Postiga to show he could take a bearing as Ronan never looked in trouble and half way through the second while bobbing and weaving missed timed his slip and was caught flush with an uppercut that turned out his lights and had him out cold.

Winner by way of KO (Punch) Elvis Ronan after 2:30 of round 2; going to 9-2 and still the Middle Weight Champion.

145 lbs. 3 x5 Minute Rounds Clay Davis (8-8) v Gim Ruut (11-3)

With Davis showing he had a lot of gas in reserve he may have looked a bit drawn before the fight but he still was not ready to give up. With Ruut indeed pushing the pace he found a groove in being able to finish his takedowns and score a couple of shots every now and then. But once on the ground he was like an energizer bunny as he went for so many submission attempts I thought he was having an epileptic fit (no offence intended). With Davis using any ground control to hit Ruut he also went for the occasional submission but Ruut was making sure as he pushed round after round for the submission victory and after 41 attempts still came up short. Going to the judges it was a close call but based solely on work ethic and completed takedowns Ruut looked certain to squeak out a win.

Winner, by unanimous decision... Gim Ruut! As he goes to 12-3

265 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Edinaldo Oliveira (6-4) v Tony Strot (0-1)

Well the lack of fight preparation showed for Strot as he came into the ring was punched cleanly twice, the second of which knocked his ass out. Without landing a strike or completing a technique Strot should not give up his day job.

Winner by way of KO (Punch) Edinaldo Oliveira after 0:26 of round 1and going to 7-4.

205 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Brakeo Sanchez (6-3) v Onizuka Stresemann (3-0)

Sanchez knew well ahead of time what Stresemans game plan would be, but he was just unable to do anything to stop the takedown which occurred from a quickly instigated clinch as Stesemann jumped guard with total confidence in his ground finishing ability. Once on the ground Stresemann was never in trouble and quickly worked a Guillotine from the bottom never giving Sanchez a chance.

Winner by way of Submission (Guillotine) OnizukaStresemann after 0:41 of round 1 and going to 4-0.

185 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Julio Gutierrez (9-7) v Gambit Wolverine (3-1)

Wolverine found out quickly that Gutierrez was here to destroy him. With a quick takedown and then fighting of a submission Wolverine scrambled on the ground got the fight back to the feet by way of the referee, hit Gutierrez and had him cut with the lucky shot he needed…..but then. It went downhill again as he was takedown again and both fighters paused having a movement of loving embrace before Gutierrez missed another submission and then just applied the pressure to end the fight once and for all.

Winner by way of Submission (Kimura) Julio Gutierrez after 2:33 of round 1 and going to 10-7

185 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Thompson Oliveira (4-7) v Gary Jones (0-1)

Showing how poor concentration and lack of effort in your training will make for a very long night Oliveira may have survived three rounds to make it to a decision but how it any bodies guess. Jones should have been an easy walk in the park for Oliverira as his inexperience and less training time in the gym meant on paper he was well and truly outmatched. However Jones had made sure he was up to scratch with his diet and training and was going to use the war of attrition with his youthful enthusiasm to overcome his opponent with the and with added bonus of great tactics he went to work. For three rounds Jones pushed the pace continually going for the takedown and when on the ground showed considerable defence to shut down Oliveira and stop him from being able to improve his position. Having him where he wanted him Jones delivered brilliant and unanswered ground and pound with had Oliverira’s head bouncing of the canvas like a basketball. When the final bell rang it was obvious who the winner was as Jones didn’t have a scratch on him and was sure to pull out a great victory with a fight of the night performance. While Oliveira could just be self-assured that he had a shoulder to cry on with his manager as they both would be awarded the dry your eyes princess award.

Winner, by unanimous decision... Gary Jones and he goes to 1-1.

205 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Pound Ground (0-4) v Kik mAn (3-6)

As one sided as they come Ground came out firing and never let mAn even think about getting into the fight as he threw kicks and punches with wild abandon….which were also landing and instantly causing mAn issues and making him back pedal. Then with a beautiful head kick Ground showed his class as he had mAn out on his feet but ensuring the victory he swarmed his helpless opponent as the referee jumped in to stop the fight.

Winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches) Pound Ground after 1:05 of round 1 and going to 1-4 with his first well deserved victory.

170 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Dark Bori (5-3) v Knuckles Bang (0-3)

Bang did everything but as his name would suggest. Showing good intention Bang tried for some punch combination, but as they all failed to land was hit with one crisp combination in return and then with an insane head kick that required a long pause in the action as medical checked him over.

Winner by way of KO (Head Kick) Dark Bori after 0:20 of round 1 and going to 6-3.

145 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Rio Bignog (4-6) v Hacran Dias (2-2)

Bignog needed some miracle and the grace of god but none were forth coming as he landed one shot but was met with 12 in return before hitting the ground and defending even harder against his determined opponent. Showing some resilience Bignog fought of 4 submissions but his night was never going to be easy as the 5th attempt was in tight and he was quickly tapping out the SOS code Shit Ouch Submission.

Winner by way of Submission (Kimura) Hacran Dias after 2:45 of round 1 and going to 3-2.

145 lbs. 3 x 5 Minute Rounds Lucas Pereira (2-0) v Matheus Felipe (0-1)

Well as a testament to WTF Pereira used the roppa dope method to completely throw a cat amongst the pigeons. Being a great boxer he instead went to the clinch and then totally dirty boxed and man handled his Muay Thai opponent. While Felipe failed to land a single strike in the clinch Periera instead continently and with ease punched and controlled the clinch situation. With no way out and desperation in his eyes Felipe was overwhelmed and just over half way through the first succumbed to the continued and precise striking of his opponent.

Winner by way of TKO (Strikes) Lucas Pereira after 2:55 of round 1 and going to 3-0.
