 HFC 4 - Barbosa vs O'Donnely

Event Review   Hello MMA fans!  We had another exciting event today that was fast paced and hard hitting.  Every fight tonight was ended in the first round, an HFC first!  Lets break down these fights!   Rocketfingers vs Bonifacio   This fight, like all our fights this evening, was a quick one.  Rocketfingers came out of the gate with a plan of action and wasted no time in putting it into effect.  He took a couple of nice shots from Bonifacio, but quickly darted into a clinch and took the fight to the ground.   Bonifacio didn't like that very much and made a quick escape.  The fans had just enough time to cheer before Rocketfingers charged in and took down Bonifacio again..  Bonifacio never got the fight back to his feet and was constantly warding off submission attempts until 3:56 into the round Rocketfingers locked in a quick Triangle and forced his opponent into tapping.   Bonifacio has to be disappointed, because he knows this fight would have been much different standing.  I'm sure he'll work on that aspect of his game over time and be looking for a chance to avenge this loss.   Great job by both fighters, but Rocketfingers was just too powerful for Bonifacio in the end.   Silva vs Happiest   This fight between Silva and Happiest was a battle between experience and youth.  The younger Silva looking to make his mark on the new and improved HFC, against Happiest, the heavy handed striker who's been around for a while.   Happiest was the aggressor, by far, in the stand up game, but was able to land just short of 50% of his shots.  Silva never even considered striking, and was constantly stuffed when going in for the take-down.     Two and a half minutes into the round, Silva scored a beautiful take-down and quickly worked his way into full mount.  The whole crowd expected some ground and pound, just to see Silva lock in a nasty arm-bar, and the veteran was forced to tap.   Great fight by these two fighters, Silva had to work for this one on  the ground, and it wasn't easy to get it there.  Happiest is a proven striker, but Silva was too much for him to keep up with on the ground.   Miz vs Douglas   And this brings us to our quickest finish of tonight, as Miz squared off against Douglas.   Miz tried stay out of striking range and get the fight to the ground, but Douglas came out hitting like a mack truck, and in one shit drawing blood, and in the second, KOing Miz with a brutal left only 38 seconds into the fight.   Bob vs Bisping   Bob vs Bisping was another fight that pitted a stand up striker against a ground fighter.  Bisping dominated this fight as he stuffed all 4 take-down attempts by Bob while landing a few hard shots.  He mixed it up well and 2:14 into the first round, a beautiful combo put Bob in a new dimension and a monster right ended the night for Bob. Hard to say what might of happened if this fight had gone to the ground, so maybe we'll have a chance to see what Bob can do in his next bout.   Soprano Jr vs Sparrow   In another one sided affair, Soprano found himself being manhandled by Sparrow.  Soprano barely had a chance to throw a punch before Sparrow took the fight to the clinch and unleashed a fury of strikes that ended when a brutal elbow was too much for the ref to handle as he quickly jumped in to save the fight.   Von Ryan vs Bessant   Our co-main event featured two of our more veteran fighters in the HFC when Von Ryan squared off against Bessant.  Both of these fighters are solid strikers and have proven they can win.    Bessant was the more aggressive fighter, throwing far more strikes than Ryan, and Ryan failed at his only attempted take-down.  A little over three minutes into the first round, Ryan dropped Bessant with a nasty combo that dropped dropped him to the canvas where Ryan jumped into mount.   Von Ryan didn't relent, and pounded on Bessant until the ref jumped in to stop the fight with only three seconds to go in the round. Excellent fight, great finish, that's HARDCORE!   O'Donnelly vs Barbosa   And on to the main event, the fight we all tuned in to see with a championship belt on the line as Shay O'Donnelly and Daniel Barbosa square off to crown the new HFC Lightweight champion of the world!   This event brought a rematch to the table between two fighters who squared off for the belt a while back when Barbosa won the belt from O'Donnely.  With the Lightweight belt up for grabs after being recently vacated by champion Jewel Diaz, it only seemed fitting these two fighters would square off to be crowned king.   This was the main event, the fight that hyped up the crowd and brought in the fans!  This was the fight everyone was waiting for.. and before it even got started,  it was over.     As if taking a page out of his previous bout with O'Donnely, Barbosa quickly worked the fight into the clinch and drug O'Donnelly down to the ground.  From there, O'Donnely had to fight off submission after submission until Barbosa was able to lock in a triangle at tap out his opponent, yet again.   Barbosa showed the world he's the best, and without Diaz around to challenger him, he looks to stay the champ for a long time.  Who will challenge Barbosa next?
