HFC 11 - Slugs vs Gold   3-27-20 Montreal - Hayashi's Lounge MMA  10 point must   Welcome to another edition of HBE presents as we take a look at our upcoming event, HFC 11 - Slugs vs Gold.  This card is packed with some talented fighters and some exciting fights, so lets break down the action, shall we!   I am J.W. Hardman, and joining me today is my long time friend and colleague, Rey Gunn.  Gunn is a former amateur MMA fighter who gave up fighting to be a coach at his gym in Montreal.     J.W.  "Rey, thanks for being here today for the first of what I hope is many events we can dissect together."   Rey   "Thanks J.W., it's a pleasure to be here.  As you know, I'm a big fan of MMA and what you've done with the HARDCORE brand."   J.W.   "Thanks Rey, but it's the fighters who make the HFC what it is today, I just have the pleasure of keeping them busy."   Rey   "Umm.. J.W., you've got some brown stuff on your nose."   J.W.   "Naw man, it's the truth.  These guys pour it all out in the cage and I get to come and watch them throw down every week.  It's a truly great experience for me and I love every minute of it."   Rey   "So, we have a full slate of fights for this one I see, outside of the obvious headlining title bout, which fight are you most interested in seeing?"   J.W.   "Well, I'm always excited to see all the fights.  In my experience in the HFC, some of the fights between guys you've never heard of turn out to be the best.  You can get wars between these guys, and sometimes there's some new talent that bursts onto the scene with a devastating KO or super fast submission victory.  But really, I like any fight between two warriors who will beat the hell out of each other and keep fighting beaten and bloodied until one of them falls."   Rey   "Yeah, you always were for the dramatic."   J.W.   "It's not drama man, it's action, glorious bloody action."   Rey   "Okay, so are you going to answer my question?"   J.W.   "Honestly, this card was built on Gold vs Slugs, I think that fight has the makings to be the fight of the night.  I know you said outside of that fight, but that fight just towers above the rest for me."   Rey   "But..."   Li Qiang vs Julio Falcon   J.W.   "But.. if I had to choose one of these fight's I was really looking forward to, I would probably say Li Qiang vs Julio Falcon.  These fighters are starting to make a name for themselves.   Qiang was on a tear in the islands but lost his last fight during the season ending tournament.  He won the belt there, lost it his next fight, and then won it back in the rematch.  He's battle tested and proven he's got championship blood in his veins.  But we have never seen him fight in the HFC before, so we booked him against Julio Falcon who's a very solid fighter in his own right.  Falcon is 2-2 since joining the HFC and has shown some flash in his ability to finish as he did when he KO'd Danny California or in his most recent fight, TKO'd Crabtree.  One thing I can say about Falcon, and this fight, is it will not go the distance.  These two are finishers, and Falcon has won or lost every fight by KO other than his first, which he lost by submission.  He's never had a fight go a full three rounds."   Rey   "Boy you're long winded..  I thought you didn't really have another favorite match?"   J.W.   "No, I said I enjoy them all, but a title fight is always that much more intense."   Rey   "When I look at this fight, I see two fighters who give it all for the W.  Neither one seem to have any quit in them, and that's always a good quality in a fighter.  Falcon is a very well rounded fighter, but he shines in his wrestling abilities.    He can strike if he needs, but I think he will try to take this fight to the ground and use his grappling skills to take care of business."   J.W.   "So you pick Falcon to win?"   Rey   "Hold on now, I didn't say that.  Falcon is a great fighter, but I think Qiang is just going to be too much for him to handle. He was impressive on the island and he's already had championship fight experience.  He knows how to win, and he knows how to finish, and I think he'll do just that in this one."   J.W.   "Yeah, I have to agree.  Falcon holds a slight edge on the ground, but they are almost equally skilled on the ground, but Qiang is a superb boxer too, which is how I think he will finish the fight.  I predict a KO victory for Qiang, but don't count out Falcon, he's crafty."   Rey   "Didn't you just count him out?"   J.W.   "Smart ass.. no, I don't think he'll win, but he's a HARDCORE fighter, anyone in the HFC always has a chance.  We don't back down from hard fights here, we put the core into them."   Rey   "That was lame J.W."   J.W.   "Yeah, don't worry, these guys are used to it by now."   Rey   "Okay, so lets talk about our title fight.  I know you wanted to save it for the end, but as much as you talk the end may never come."   Gold vs Slugs   J.W.   "What can I say, I'm enthusiastic about this!  I truly love what I do.  Gold vs Slugs, man, I can't wait!"   Rey   "Other than this being a title fight, why do you look forward to it so much?   J.W.   "What's not to love about this fight?  Title fight, two fighters with a combined 15-2 record, both finishers, both beasts of men."   Rey   "Yeah, I can't argue with that.  I took some time to go watch each of these guys train and let me tell you, these men are focused.  Slugs looks every bit the champ in there and I can tell you, he's going to be ready for this fight."   J.W.   "Yeah, he's always ready.  He has held the belt back on the island and won the belt in his HFC debut against Lug Luger, former HFC champion from the early days.  Both of these fighters have championship DNA, and I expect nothing short of a spectacular fight here."   Rey   "I almost forgot that Gold won the belt on the island too, right before the tournament. Man, this really is going to be a championship war.  Bring it on!!"   J.W.   "Who's your pick, Rey?"   Rey   "Oh, that's easy.  It's going to be a draw."   J.W.   "What?...."   Rey   "Hey, that way I don't have to pick a winner and I don't lose."   J.W.   "No wonder why you quit MMA."   Rey   "Low blow bro."   J.W.   "Okay Rey, we're running out of time so lets go ahead and take a look at one more fight to break down before we shut this down for the night.  We covered the title fight, and I chose one, so you're turn to choose which fight we look at."   Rey   "So what, you're not going to pick a winner in the title fight?"   J.W.   "Easy, the champ will win."   Rey   "Current champ or former champ?"   J.W.   "Yes..."   Rey   "Like talking to a brick wall... Okay, so I was just looking over the card and there are some interesting match-ups here.  It's a bit of a toss up for me as I think the Thompson vs Lawrence and Denisov vs Mne fights each have potential. "   J.W.   "Yes, they do, as do a few others.  So why do these stand out, or at least, why does one in particular stand out?"   Denisov vs Mne   Rey    "Well, what stands out to me about the Denisov vs Mne fight is that on paper, it looks like a mismatch.  Denisov is 3-5, I believe, while Mne is what, 8-5?  Mne is far more experienced and has won as many fights as Denisov has had in his career.  He's a grappler who was on a warpath leading to an 8-2 record before he hit a wall and is on a 3 fight losing streak.  This is why it is interesting to me.  Loser of 3 strait, moral at an all time low, and he's facing an opponent who's struggling to save his career.  Honestly, I smell an upset alert."   J.W.   "You think Denisov is going to defeat Mne??"   Rey   "Well, he's HARDCORE, right? Of course he has a chance."   J.W.   "you're too wishy washy, just pick a winner and roll with it."   Rey   "It's hard to bet against Mne, but yeah, I think Denisov gets the upset here.  He's a better boxer and wrestler than Mne is, so as long as he can avoid getting caught in a submission, I think we see a (T)KO victory for Denisov to bring his record up to 4-5."   J.W.   "Wow, I can't say I expected that.  You always talk about being right because of your experience in MMA, so I figured you would give Mne the same honors."   Rey   "Yeah, and how many fights did I win?  I may know more from being experienced, but doesn't always make me a better fighter than my opponent."   J.W.   "I really think the 3 fight losing streak has gotten to Mne, but I would like to see him get a win here to pull out of that funk.  He's got too much talent to keep spiraling down.  But a win could also vault Denisov back in the right direction, so this will be a good fight to see which of these fighters have the best chance of turning things around."   Rey   "Man, there are still a lot of fights left, J.W."   J.W.   "Yeah, we spent a little too much time here already, so we'll have to skip detailed analysis on these fights, but lets go ahead and run em' down for our viewers."   Rey   "Because you talk too much..."     J.W.   "I'm telling you, one of these undercard fights we aren't mentioning is going to end up winning a fight of the night award, I can feel it."   Rey   "Are you sure that's not just gas again?"   J.W.   "No, I feel that too.. and now that you mentioned it on here, you will feel it too when I release shortly."   Rey   "You're a nasty sob, you know that?"   J.W.   "Yup, I even fart HARDCORE."   J.W.   "Thank you all for tuning in to another edition of Hardcore Bloodbath Entertainment Presents, with your host J.W. Hardman and our guest Rey Gunn.  Below are the rest of the fights on this card not mentioned in our analysis.  Best of luck to all the fighters stepping into the cage this weekend, and above all else, stay HARDCORE!"   Bryan Thompson vs Albert Lawrence Fitz Miz vs Fred Freds Waampa Woodoo vs Jack Sparrow Robinson Anderson vs Urijah Faber Luigi Bonifacio vs Donald Cerrone Happier Happiest vs Aziz Rubson Nate Masvidal vs Christopher Graves
