HFC 10 - Kung vs Rodrigues

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen of HARDCORE Fighting Championship! I am pleased to announce that you have a brand new face in the booth tonight!

It all began at HFC 8, where there I was, vigorously taking notes on a pad of blank yellow sheet paper, along with letting the strangers around me know what was getting set to happen next. It was the 185 lbs title fight between Rob Tanner and Moe Richardson. Tanner was coming in with a 7-1 record. 4 straight knockouts. Starching cats left and right. Moe Richardson on the other hand, was coming in off a first round knockout loss.

I was very fortunate to have had one lucky pair of ears listening in on my conversations with fellow fans. And after the result between Tanner and Richardson, one I had accurately picked to the number, I was approached by J. W. Hardman, or  “Bleakardor”, the owner of HARDCORE Fighting Championship.

After a couple of weeks of making sure my studio apartment could withstand a stay-at-home analyst job, I took on the position with open arms and couldn’t be more excited to relish in the excitement the HFC has to offer, not only by myself but now with all of you!

Now, without further ado, let’s get into the action that blew fans’ minds this past weekend! HFC 10 brought a night of fights that didn’t have one see the judges scorecard!

Mild Paplano (3-0) vs Vico Firenze (2-2)

Main card action began in the lightweight division with a bout between Mild Paplano (2-0) and Vico Firenze (2-1). Paplano holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and has shown keen wrestling ability in his first two fights. Both being decided in under a minute, tonight’s bout rang the same tone. Paplano came out and landed an early takedown, and made quick work, synching up a kimura in 48 seconds. The HFC lightweight division better take notice as all of Paplano’s victories have come by kimura or arm-bar. Great way to begin the night and get the fan’s up and cheering!

Balink Tarlah (3-1) vs #7 John Henry (4-1)

Man, oh, man! What a performance by Balink Tarlah! The lightweight division had another awesome fight to follow. The undefeated John Henry (4-0, #7 Lightweight in the HFC) had been on an absolute tear, notching 4 straight first round knockout finishes, including his debut at HFC - Fight Night 4. But Balink Tarlah’s wrestling was too much to handle. He brought the fight to the floor quickly and rained down a heavy barrage of strikes, forcing John Henry to tap out. Balink Tarlah is becoming a very dangerous and scary ground and pound artist. Two of his victims have now been submitted due to them not being able to handle the onslaught. Maybe this sets the tone for a Tarlah - Paplano matchup?

Borris the Blade (7-1) vs Jorge Galvao (3-2)

In the middleweight division,we have tonight’s feature Knockout of the Night winner, Borris the Blade (7-1)! Running on a 6 fight undefeated winning streak. He suffered his first defeat at the hands of Ralo Gracie by 1st round submission. This was a bitter taste that didn’t sit well with Borris, who had a quick turn around to face Jorge Galvao (3-2) at HFC 10. All within 12 seconds, Borris lands a massive cross. This triggered a takedown out of Galvao, who did not take well at all to Borris’ power. Borris had a quick sprawl, and soon after the fight returns to the feet, lands a massive uppercut that dropped Jorge. Just like that, it was over. Not only did Borris earn bonus money, but a heap of a lot more fans. Well done!

Co-Main Event: Rickson Silva (4-0) vs Joseph Jantan (12-6)

A feature middleweight bout held fashion to the co-main event tonight as Rickson Silva (4-0) challenged veteran Joseph Jantan (12-6). It was an odd fight, as Joseph Jantan rushed in immediately for a takedown, against a savvy ground technician in Silva. Joseph soon found himself in guard, where Silva used his fantastic bottom game to reverse the position and get on top. The next two minutes looked like a BJJ match where Silva was the man on a completely different level. As much as Jantan was able to fend off the constant arm-bars and kimura attempts, a final kimura sank in and was the one to finish the fight. Rickson Silva has established himself as a solid contender at 185!

(170) Welterweight Championship Fight

Manolito Tai Kung (8-1) vs Samuel Rodrigues (9-0)

An exciting night of fights led up to a Welterweight Championship Fight who at the time pinned two undefeated fighters against one another. The champion Samuel Rodrigues, 8-0 going into this fight, has been an absolute menace on the ground. Holding the championship in the SFC, and notching his first HFC title defense against Gunner Larrson, he came into his 2nd title defense with the same gameplan, knowing Tai Kung may not have what it takes to match up with his style. Tai Kung came in 8-0 (6-0 MMA, 3-0 KT), looking to keep the fight standing knowing his professional kickboxing experience would lend the hand over Rodrigues’ striking.

The bell rang for the welterweight championship bout, and Samuel Rodrigues quickly made the fight a grappling match. Before Tai Kung could get off any striking, he found himself backed up against the cage, looking to fend off not only the heavy pressure of Rodrigues but also his gifted ability to get the fight to his guard. Rodrigues gave him no time to think however, and quickly brought the fight to the ground. There was a very short display of uncertainty in Tai Kung’s eyes as Rodrigues started attempting a multitude of submissions off of his back. The main event was in total a conundrum of how well the fighters fight on the ground here in the HFC. After a mixture of attacks at both a kimura and neck attacks, Rodrgiues was able to cinch up a guillotine, handing Tai Kung his first taste of defeat, and retaining his HFC Welterweight title. Tonight’s event proved to everyone watching that to be able to survive at the top of the HFC, you must have a proficient ground game.

We were all treated to a fantastic night of fights! The card was full of action from the top to the bottom. The submission of the night came in the very first fight, as Tun Tun Kho Sitsongrit finished Togachi Nakamoto by kimura 0:42 seconds into the round. The fight of the night came in the heavyweight division, which surprisingly held the longest lasting fight of the night as well! Boris Balkan defeated Gumby Lane by armbar in the 3rd round, in a fight that saw Balkan knock Lane down 3 times. A classy display of striking followed up by the ability to finish on the ground.

Tonight was an absolute barnburner. Every fight packed a punch for the fans to witness! It’s been a pleasure being able to bring you guys this event as my first write-up for the HFC, and hopefully can continue to have a lot more fun with all you fight fans! I will see you all next time! Have a lovely evening.
