HFC 16 - Waller vs Repine
RIO DE JANEIRO!!! We are so happy to say hello to you again. This will be our FIRST event in Rio under the banner of HARDCORE Fighting Championship. We have hosted events here before that have been legendary (RIP Tito, big ups homie) but not under our new re-branding of HARDCORE Championship Fighting. Now of course HFC President J.W. Hardman wanted to make sure that Rio gets treated with something special on the night of our return. “This is a special card, 2 belts getting wrapped tonight, bonuses will be flying. I mean just look at the headliner, that's 600 pounds of mean killing machines going at it”. Hardman is referring to the headline fight which will pit Super Heavyweight Champ Doug "And The" Slugs Vs Julio "Iguanaman" Falcon. Both fighters are 300 pounds and literally eat baby elephants for breakfast. What an exciting night, As I type this I am struggling to not succumb to the overwhelming joy that is surging through my body.
Lets breakdown the cards top fights-
©Doug "And The" Slugs (8-1) Vs. (2)Julio "Iguanaman" Falcon (6-3) - 265lb Super Heavyweight Championship
In his two fights here at HFC, our Super Heavyweight Champion Doug Slugs has been nothing short of dominant. He is lethal with his hand, elbows, knees and feet when standing. He also has a great ground game. We should be proud to have such a well rounded champ. However, HFC has some of the best talent in the world and Slugs opponent will be his greatest challenge to date. Julio “The IguanaMan” Falcon is also extremely well rounded and has looked equally impressive in his two HFC fights. This fight was the one that everyone wanted to see in the Super Heavyweight division. Really the only hestion from HFC matchmaker Igor Peixoto for making this fight was the issue of finding a proper ring. “Look these are some big boys, regulation rings can take thousands of pounds of pressure, but when you consider mass, speed and velocity there is potential for ring thresholds to be broken. We did our due diligence, we will have a reinforced ring in Rio that can handle the impact of an asteroid.” Reports are that the Brazilian Government wanted to buy this ring from HFC after the event to use as a bomb shelter. HFC refused, as they will need this ring for future events. Everything about this fight is extraordinary, including the ring.
Prediction: An instant classic that shapes the history of the HFC SuperHeavyWeight division. Many claim it is a lock for fight of the year. Current Champ Doug Slugs loses an insanely close split decision that sees action standing and all over the ground. Rematch is imminent, good thing we already have the ring.
(1)Jack Waller (7-0) Vs. (5)Chad Repine (6-3) - 135lb Bantamweight Championship - (Vacant Belt)
It takes a strong man to be patient and disciplined. For his whole life Jack Waller has embodied those things and it led him to becoming the HFC 135lb champion. Life was great. But in life, things happen. When a massive merger took place that saw a huge influx of talent join HFC. It forced Jack to relinquish his 135lb title. What would you do if you were Jack? I would be distraught, heartbroken and calling my mom hourly. Well Jack is a stronger man than me. He just got back to work. He kept winning and guess what? Here Jack is fighting for “his” belt. “Look business is business, I focus on what I can control, which is these hands, any want some smoke? (*epic 15 punch air combo)”. Powerful words from Jack Waller. All that stands in Jack’s way from reuniting with his belt is not a current champ. No, the former current champ (sounds weird I know), is still MIA. President Hardman made the tough call and stripped the MIA champ of his belt. There's a full statement from Hardman on that situation in the league forum, please refer there for any questions regarding that situation. Instead Jack Waller will face off against the man who most recently challenged the former champ, Chad Repine. While Chad did lose that title match, both match maker Igor Peixoto and President Hardman feel Chad is worthy of title contention. I went to a couple of Chads sparring sessions and I agree, that kid can fight. He knocked a sparring partner out cold for 30 minutes. They just put the guy in the corner of the gym lying unconscious and kept training. I asked, “is it okay to just leave him there?”, they responded “it happens all the time to all of us, he (sparring partner) should be fine, Frank (former sparring partner) did die, but that was from an insane flying knee which we don't allow Chad to do in sparring anymore…” . Chad’s sparring partner did wake up (thank god) and was pretty lighthearted about the whole thing. Crazy, I know. Anyways, this will be a great fight, whoever wins will be a very deserving champion. Both fighters are comfortable standing and exchanging, or going to the ground. This fight will showcase all aspects of MMA.
Prediction: Chad shows he is Championship worthy and finishes Jack with a nasty right hand. Chad Repine -Win by KO
(5)Lucas Pardo (5-2) Vs. Nick "Bear" Wright (2-2) - 265lb Heavyweight Division Bought
It is always fun when a high ranked HFC contender takes on a well respected newcomer from an outside organization. This is exactly what we have here. The Heavyweight division is already stacked and we’ve already witnessed a lot of the top guys throw down. Lucas is fresh off of a loss against the current champ and all around beast of a man, Lynch “Moral Low” Boshank. Before the title shot Lucas beat another top Heavyweight contender in Kirill Semenov. Semenov lost to Pardo but then beat another top contender Jack Sparrow. Needless to say the top of the heavyweight division is quite interesting. Enter stage left newcomer Nick "Bear" Wright. With a win here, the division will be even more shook up. Even if Nick loses, look for him to be fighting top 10 guys in the HW division in HFC for the foreseeable future. Lucas is dangerous all over, Nick will look to showcase his bjj as he may be outmatched in the standup category.
Prediction: Nick’s welcome party is cut short, Lucas Pardo wins with a 2nd Round TKO and begins his climb back up the rankings. Post fight, Lucas grabs the mike from Joe Rogan. He calls for a rematch with the champ during a profanity laced rant that touches topics from politics to baking recipes. The crowd in Rio goes crazy, they love every second of it.
(9)Piotr "Pepis" Przepiorka (4-1) Vs. Togachi "Little Mountain" Nakamoto (0-2) - 155lb Lightweight Bought
One of these fighters will get their first win under the HFC banner. Piotr was 4-0 coming into his HFC debut, but lost via armbar in the 2nd round. Togachi has only two fights, both in HFC, both losses. Good on the kid for jumping into the deep end, he is only 19. Both guys are talented and will have solid HFC careers as they develop. Togachi wants to utilize his Muay Thai and strike, Piotr will look for takedowns and submissions.
Prediction: Togachi shows a ton of heart and comes close to finishing Piotr with some big shots, but Piotr’s relentless submission attempts eventually work, Togachi gets caught in a kimura 3rd round.
UnderCard
The undercard is a tribute to how fast HFC is growing and how deep their talent is. We will be watching all of these fighters as they progress and begin to climb the HFC rankings.
