4K.39 : HW Tourney Final! PREVIEW

Excitement time at 4K as the pants wettingly excellent heavyweight tournament comes to a close and sees Quintana and Rogers shaping up for the right to claim champion status in the biggest and baddest division Amsterdam has to offer. Plenty stood up for the challenge but many of those have fallen and now only 2 remain. This is going to be a phenomenal night of action and one which will be talked about around the e-water coolers for some time. Over 5000 fans are preparing to run amok throughout the Beer Garden so make sure you're one and purchase tickets early as this is guaranteed to sell out! There's plenty of other talented fighters making an appearance on the night so let's get down to a quick look at the top 5 fights on the card:

"The Prodigy" Jima Jamm vs. Pentti "Pena" Ali

Cruiserweight

A couple of cruiserweights with mixed records get the party that is the main card started as both "The Prodigy" Jamm and "Pena" Ali look to improve their current form. Jamm has shown himself to be a highly competent kickboxer and it will be fun to see him pit his feet and elbows against the non-stop boxing ferocity of Ali as the latter looks to notch up another KO win. Given his absolutely appalling energy levels I am thinking "Pena" must be going for an all-or-nothing approach which will hopefully see him score the early KO because if not, he's F'd in the A. Jamm, despite being slightly smaller, has a full tank of gas and I imagine he is going to be just too spritely for his opponent and I expect to see him ducking in and out and wearing down Ali's cardio before finishing with a big head kick KO.

Ed Gein vs. Bruce Becker

Middleweight

Impressive up-and-comer Gein is taking on the highly experienced Becker in a bout which is going to be determined by the intelligence of each man's game plan. Gein has a well rounded skillset, similar to Becker's apart from Becker's outstanding wrestling so whether or not they stand and bang or hit the mat rolling it should be fairly evenly matched up. With both men coming off losses in their recent appearances there's plenty of pride on the line tonight and I am expecting this fairly unassuming fight to surprise a lot of fans with it's explosiveness. It is difficult to predict which man has the edge here but Gein has shown some very heavy hands for a man who is not famous for his striking so I think this may just tip the scales in his favour so pencil me in for a Gein KO win.

"Great Aristotle" Shaquille Oneal vs. Karol "Finisher" Cropp

Heavyweight

Just to give you a taste of what is in store we have a heavyweight sampler featuring "Great Aristotle" Oneal and "Finished" Cropp as the two big boys go toe-to-toe in a fight you just can't expect to last very long. Win or lose, the longest Oneal has been seen in a cage is 5 seconds into round 2 and with "Finisher" being undefeated after 4 appearances, his most recent being the first to make it past the 2nd minute of round 1, you can bet your sweet arse these two men are going to make some sparks fly. Oneal Is the bigger man but Cropp is slightly better trained, particularly in the jitsu, although I would expect this fight to take place standing. With Cropp's previous submission wins coming to white belts with lack lustre wrestling I think the pedigree of "Great Aristotle" should prove to be his greatest challenge yet and I also favour Oneal's style of heavy handed brawling so I am going to tip him to claim the knock out tonight.

Zorba "Minotaur" The Greek vs. Kane "Killa" Kilburn

Middleweight. Co-Main Event!

"Minotaur" The Greek is a man who needs different sized trunks for nearly every fight as one week he has a belt to keep them up and the next he doesn't. His tumultuous relationship with the middleweight championship has led him to tonight's co-main event where he faces "Killa" Kilburn a man who shows great cardio and smarts with most of his fights going the distance. "Minotaur" will be looking to use his big boxing to nullify Kilburn's Thai styles, something he may find easier given his 13cm height advantage which should work some to take a bit of sting off of Kilburn's kicks. With neither man being too keen to go to ground previously you would imagine that The Greek's extra 20lbs of weight, coupled with that height, will make his punches highly dangerous for Kilburn and he'll require every ounce of intelligence to last the whole 15 minutes against a man who has won all his fights via KO. I may be a doubting Debbie but I don't think Kilburn has what it takes and I am backing The Greek to score a KO win.

Carlos "Bam Bam" Quintana vs. "Captain America" Steve Rogers

Heavyweight. Main Event TITLE FIGHT!

Goddamn this is a lot of talent to fit into one cage. Despite being quite young both "Bam Bam" Quintana and "Captain America" Rogers are outrageously skilled combatants. Both men are currently on flights inbound for the event but they should hit the cage with equal energy levels so no excuses there as the two men prepare to drop bombs with a combined record of 11 KOs from 14 total wins between the two of them. This is a fight which is going to be an instant classic as both men have such a level of hype and mystique surrounding them that anything they do ends up being crapped on about at length on MMA forums worldwide. Size wise, they're of equal height but Quintana has a staunch 40lbs on his opponent and that weight is going to come in handy as Rogers has the slight standing advantage thanks to some world class Thai boxing. Quintana for his part has the potential to mix things up and use his superior wrestling and jitsu, accompanied by his weight, to get this to the floor but given his previous appearances and general fight mentality I wouldn't expect it to happen. A very tough fight to call but I think Quintana has what it takes as I have seen him perform many times in the past and am quite familiar with his management team and fight club so my prediction is that "Bam Bam" becomes the heavyweight champion due to knock out victory!

And that's all she wrote boys and girls! Make sure you don't miss any of the action and shuffle your arse into The Beer Garden early to avoid disappointment! I'm K-Rad and I am out of here!
