Simon's Transformation, or Hitler Kaput!

Simon Wiesenthal’s background is an unusual one. Born and raised into an ultra-nationalistic family in north-Eastern part of Europe (Latvia) Simon (then known as Starksson) was taught hate and prejudice from early age. His crib was situated under a huge red flag with a white circle (more on that later) draped on the wall. Ancient religious symbols, nooses and photos of burning crosses surrounded little Simon and exuded air of intolerance and terror. While Simon’s mother breastfed him, his father never missed a session, choosing to sit in his rocking chair next to his pudgy offspring and read aloud from Mein Kamp.

Throughout his teenage years Simon would be teased whenever his father would drop him off at school, the duo dressed in what the kids thought were pillowcases with holes cut into them.  Simon’s mother fled their home and according to rumors took refuge in Israel, where apparently she started dating a Black male. Simon’s father could not handle the news, and his head literally exploded. Later, after an autopsy was performed it was concluded that humorously the family was predisposed to these head explosions due to stress (his second cousin could be seen having displaying similar adverse reaction to unpleasant news in an episode of Dave Chapelle’s report on Clayton Bigsby).

After his father’s untimely death little Simon (literally little, as he stopped growing at 10, and is still under 5 feet tall at 24 years of age) was united with his mother. At first Simon could not bear living in Israel under the same roof with a Black man. Simon thought about his father and thought to himself:”what would that old hater do?” Thoughts of poisoning the man and setting the house on fire ran through his mind as he fell asleep each night. Klansmen, knights and German girls with healthy bosoms, blue eyes, and hair the color of rye braided into pig tails circled above his head and disappeared into each night. Simon would wake up with soiled underwear, groggy and full of hatred.  And so it went for several weeks, until the Black man has had enough of the little punk who would salute him daily with “Zig Heil!” and promise to curb stomp one of these days.  The man came up to the little Simon and said: “ listen here mangg, I can beat your ass into oblivion at a moment’s notice, for I am Zab Judah.” “ Zap Jew-who?” replied the pillow-case wearing Simon. Zab grabbed his stepson by the ankle and proceeded to forcefully drag him throughout several blocks of Jerusalem’s bustling streets. Midday, onlookers were intrigued—a Black male dragging a kid who would kick with his one free leg, salute, and scream what sounded like fascist propaganda.”

The family disappeared from spotlight for nearly a decade and only recently came into the spotlight, as Simon, now an American citizen and an avid follower of Judaism was racking up wins. No one clearly knows or understand how this phenomenal transformation would be possible,  with some calling it a marketing ploy, however, most are happy to cheer for a talented young fighter with such an interesting story. Of course there is a contingent that is quite unhappy, as Simon states that here is a bounty on his head and that he often receives hate e-mail, but says that he can brush it aside, knowing that he is doing the right thing, and adds: “my daddy probably done spin in his grave quite a few times knowing that I’m one of them Jewish fellers, but I recon I done become a better man.”

And so the story continues to unfold, as Simon is looking for his first fight since the public became aware of his new identity. Simon alluded to growing his side curls and revealing them during his next fight walkout to pay homage to Zab Judah, a man whom Simon owns everything.
