Goodnight Ronaldo

Fighter profile of Hiroshi Ekaku by Chris Karter

"Night Night Ronaldo!" Hiroshi shouts at the top of his lungs after choking Watch Out Ronaldo unconscious at Syn 703 in front of 91,000 fans at the Synchronicity crowd in the Wombley Arena.

The first round submission earned him the second submission of the night award of his career and an extra $25,000 in his bank account. Because he is always looking for the finish it has made his suspect to the cheesers of the division. Inconsistency has plagued his entire Syn' career and this only marks the 4th finish in his 18 fights with the organization. He's compiled an 8-8-2 record in that time but everything went his way for this fight.

As soon as the bell rang the two fighters came out and met in the center of the cage exchanging strikes right away with Hiroshi initiating the clinch after landing a hard right hand to the body that hurt his opponent. Ronaldo used every opportunity to throw elbows but Hiroshi controlled the action and landed some shots of his own softening his opponent up. Ronaldo was really over committed to the Johnny Cage elbow tactic and Hiroshi would capitalize on this mistake. He moved around to his opponent's back and suplexed Ronaldo clear over his head and slammed him to the mat. When they got to the ground Hiroshi quickly locked up a rear naked choke and choked Ronaldo until he turned a funky color and his body went limp. Hiroshi tossed him to the side and jumped on the cage to celerbate with the fans much to the delight of the crowd.

Ronaldo throws an elbow but it misses.

Ekaku has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Ronaldo clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Ronaldo has hold of Ekaku's leg, trying to break free but it's let Ekaku lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Ronaldo is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Ekaku throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Hiroshi Ekaku!

The odds of him continuing his success are a mystery. His last loss was a controversal split decision in a fight where he outworked his opponent in every facet of the game (striking, clinch, ground) but the judges still gave the nod to his foe. He is 4-1-2 in his last 7 fights and arguably won both of the draws and the decision he was sleighted. Another win would probably warrant him a title shot but he is almost guaranteed to flop.
