**** Post Fight Review *****

Welcome to the post fight review for TWD 27 Ferreira vs. Gomez as which was showcased by the Heavy Weight Belt tussle between Ferreira and Gomez

Let's go out to the Next Level Nutrition partner and TWD Gambling Den as The Wild Den continues to deliver and grow with each fight night.

265 lbs. 5 x 5 Minutes Rounds Antonio Carlos Ferreira (5-0) v Palito Gomez (6-2)

****** 265 lbs. title ******

Whether it was the lights of the big time or just a bad night Gomez came in as the challenger and showed he had heart battling for 5 rounds that showed he could take some punishment. No matter what Gomez threw or tried he continually came up short and in 25 minutes of fight action he landed only 1 combination as he fired only a fraction of the strikes that he was on the receiving end of.

How he ever managed to stay standing is a testament to his want and will to put on a show, but the Champ showed why he is undefeated landing with relative ease and with only weakness being on the ground where he failed at all 17 ground and pound strikes and was denied on 4 submissions.

With the final bell ringing there was no doubt who had one as Gomez looked ready for some serious plastic surgery and some much needed painkillers while the Champ had been pushed for 25 minutes where he was relentless in his striking and ability to connect.

Winner, by unanimous decision... Antonio Carlos Ferreira as he goes to 6-0 and remains the undisputed Heavy Weight Champion.

170 lbs. 3 x 5 Minutes Rounds Michael Alves (6-5) v Pedro Costa (6-2)

Alves started nicely and looked to turn his losing streak around with some quick punches and was finding range from the outset. However with the fight being broken by some clinching action Alves could not get into a groove as Costa landed a head kick with just over a minute on the clock.

With blood spurting, and Alves crashing to the mat he was waved up only for Costa to seize him up quickly and dispatch another head kick which saw Alves knocked senseless.

Winner by way of KO (Head Kick) Pedro Costa after 1:31 of round 1 and going to 7-2

185 lbs. 3 x 5 Minutes Rounds Ronaldo Pitbull (7-1) v Maester Ochu (3-1)

Taking my foot out of my mouth, Ochu had not bitten of more than he could chew but instead had the taste of revenge spurring him on as he went to battle.

As strikes flew with wild abandon Ochu showed exceptional defence to not only avoid the lion’s share of strikes thrown at him but defend 12 from 13 takedowns and 2 submission attempts.

But not relying on just defence Ochu was on the attack dishing out some good stand up and have great success with his punching.

Going into the second 1 round up Ochu kept pushing forward and as the round was closing out landed a telling blow which had Pitbull floored and then waved to his feet only to be met with another exchange and with the end of the round in sight a Massive Right Hand landed and it was all over for Pitbull.

Winner by way of KO (Punch) Maester Ochu after 4:49 of round 2 and going to 4-1.

205 lbs. 3 x 5 Minutes Rounds Bo Lo (1-2) v Travon Clayton (5-3)

In a fight that was more like watching two Politicians have a slap fight it was amazing to see two professional fighters miss each other so much.

With the only telling sign being Clayton gaining 7 from 18 takedown attempts each man hit each other an amazing 3 times in 15 minutes from a total of 25 strikes thrown and to his credit Lo did manage to stop 15 submission attempts.

But after 15 minutes it was the takedowns that showed a decided edge and the judges had an easy result.

Winner, by unanimous decision... Travon Clayton and going to 6-3.

205 lbs. 3 x 5 Minutes Rounds Deodoro Da Fonseca (0-3) v Ati Kon (5-3)

Going from bad to worse Da Fonseca showed why some men may train but they just don’t make fighters. Being a heavy underdog still could not pull him out of despair as Da Fonseca succeeded in missing the only 5 strikes he threw while being taken down with ease the last time of which had him being slammed into the canvas so hard his brain just gave up the ghost.

Winner by way of KO (Slam) Ati Kon after 1:18 of round 1 and going to 6-3.

170 lbs. 3 x 5 Minutes Rounds Lucas Faria (3-5) v James Lee (0-1)

As both men stood for 15 minutes it was more a show case of defence and how to miss your opponent. As both men were either unable to find their range, just plain missed or were then confounded by each other’s defence the crowd was booing with the lack of connections and a fight that just dragged on.

With a total of 152+ strikes being thrown between the men for on 26 hitting their target and 7 unsuccessful takedown attempts it was in there air how the judges would score the fight.

Winner, by majority decision... Lucas Faria and going to 4-5.

265 lbs. 3 x 5 Minutes Rounds Gabriel Martelli (1-5) v Eddie Chase (2-1)

Martelli was again left high and dry as he managed to grit out the entire fight and show he has heart while under the pressure of constant head punches.

As Chase landed significantly more head strikes than the last fight combined which was 36 from 38 he could still not stop Martelli who was a work horse looking for the takedowns that more often than not just were not paining dividends.

As the blooded and bruised face of Martelli stood for the result he knew as did everyone else that he was going to bring about his 6th straight loss.

Winner, by unanimous decision... Eddie Chase and going to 3-1.

205 lbs. 3 x 5 Minutes Rounds Johnny Sanders (1-0) v Steve Ficken (1-0)

Sanders may have finished his debut quickly but with absolutely no success in the takedowns against Ficken his night was saved by the mere fact that Ficken could take him down easily.

Once on the ground Sanders then went about creating spacing improving his position and was relentless in his submission attempts.

As the fight clock ticked by over and over it was Sanders denied and Ficken succeeding in the takedown only to not be able to seal the deal on the ground.

And as it went to the judges Ficken just had done nothing more than succeed in takedowns. As a result.

Winner, by split decision... Johnny Sanders and going to 2-0.

145 lbs. 3 x 5 Minutes Rounds Bruno Almeida (1-2) v Tim Bradley (1-1)

Being owned from pillar to post Almeida was takedown more times than Dirk Digglers pants at an Orgy. As he pushed on and tried to do anything to stop the merry-go-round Bradley did nothing to work the ground game but instead looked happy to score point by showing his wrestling prowess and his ability to score the takedown.

After 15 boring minutes of what was more like a Wrestling Clinique the judges had their decision.

Winner, by unanimous decision... Tim Bradley and going to 2-1.

265 lbs. 3 x 5 Minutes Rounds Slava Smirnov (4-1) v Vitor Belfort (4-5)

Continuing his return to form Smirnov showed both great defence by not being hit a single time and great punching as he quickly had Belfort rocked by a Right Hook, missed with the left but then again had Belfort backing into the cage with a right hook and on the wrong end of some finishing punches.

Winner by way of TKO (Strikes) Slava Smirnov after 1:57 of round 1 and going to 5-1.
