The Ballad of Demon Monkey

Fighter profile of Demon Monkey by Freako Wimp

Let me tell you a story.

Back in 2016, when I returned to Tycoon, the first fighter I built was named Demon Monkey. Demon Monkey is a welterweight. A bald, ugly welterweight with a patchy and unkempt donut.

I cooked him for 7 months and debuted in him in ABW. He popped a granite chin and finished 2 of his 3 first opponents. At 3-0, he earned a title fight against fellow prospect Hairy Scrotum. Hairy Scrotum then kicked Monkey's ass all over the cage for 10 minutes, before finishing him early in the third. He ended up washing out of ABW shortly thereafter, on the heels of a 4 fight losing streak.

In his first 15 fights, he went 8-6-1, with two of those wins being tepid decisions over jobbers in the QFC. He'd go on to earn another ABW contract and earned another title shot after two straight wins, only to once again get destroyed. This time by Elgin Turner. After the Turner loss, Monkey's record was a pathetic 10-7-1.

At the same time, welterweight superstar Nick Graves bounced back from his first loss by dominating and finishing 16-2 talent Crack Head. Graves' record was a staggering 16-1.

ABW would eventually fold, and Monkey had an up and down career with EFC. He went 1-3 in his first 4 fights there, but ended his EFC run with 5 straight finishes. He never earned a title shot in EFC. Riding high off his recently found punching power, he made his PULSE debut in December 2019 and... promptly got finished by an ancient Jack Stone. Record: 17-11-1.

At the same time, Nick Graves won back the EMP title by stoppage. His record was 28-6.

Title fight records so far

Demon Monkey: 0-2
Nick Graves: 11-4

Monkey went 3-5 in his first 8 fights at PULSE, while Graves would go on to win titles in ICS and PULSE, fight on a Supernova card, and become the #1 welterweight in the world.

I was considering unceremoniously sacking Monkey at this point, but he won his next four fights against some jobbers and somehow earned a PULSE title shot against Graves, a fighter I'd kept an eye on for years. Monkey was an old man and I decided it would be a nice end note to his career to fight for a world title against arguably the best welterweight of his generation.

Records

Demon Monkey: 24-15-1
Nick Graves: 37-8-0

Title fight records

Demon Monkey: 0-2
Nick Graves: 18-5

You can probably figure out what the ensuing execution must have looked like, but I'll show it to you anyways.
