HFC 54 - Wanker Vs Kocak Preview

Hello MMA fans, I’m Alexei Smirnov and today I’m here to give you a preview for HFC 54! Fans in New York are in for a treat tonight because this is an amazing card. Tonight's main event is the clash of the titans as two super heavyweights duke it out for the title!

Samson “Koa” Komua vs Alesana Seia

In the opening fight of the night we have two light heavyweights. It’s Samson “Koa” Komua (3-4-0) taking on Alesana Seia (4-3-0). These two fighters are quite even when it comes to their record and winning for either one of these men could help them build up momentum. Their records don’t show the whole story as all of their fights have been quite close and these two men are very talented. Both Komua and Seia seem to prefer to stay standing so I don’t expect this one going to the ground. We’ve seen these two fighters clinch before and I won’t be surprised if the majority of this fight was in the clinch. Both of these men have power if their fists with both of them getting multiple knockouts. This is a fight between two powerful stand up fighters and that’s my kind of fight.

My pick: Seia Via Unanimous Decision

I had to change my pick to win multiple times, this fight is insanely close. I had to give it to Seia just because he has the better stand game and if this fight stays standing Seia has a good chance of winning. With how good Seia’s chin is I just don’t see Komua being able to get the KO. If Komua takes this fight to ground he may have a chance but, we haven’t seen him do that yet so my pick is Seia. Overall a fight you won’t want to miss!

Richard Pryor vs "El Seor Vorpal Kickasso" Billy Bob

For the second fight of this evening we have Richard Pryor (2-1-0) taking on "El Seor Vorpal Kickasso'' Billy Bob (7-4-0). Bob has a big incentive to win this one as he probably feels like he should have been on the rankings with his impressive record and Pryor needs to prove that he belongs in HFC after his last loss. I think this will be another standing fight as both of these fights have great stand up games. Bob has shown he can get the KO with wins over Von Ryan and Destruction. Pryor hasn’t shown he can pick up the KO only getting decision wins in his MMA career so far. It’s a lot harder to evaluate how good Pryor is with how little he’s fought in HFC but, I have been impressed by what he’s shown. We have a lot more info on Bob and we’ve seen have long winning and losing streaks. Right now Bob is riding a lot of momentum and we’ll see if he can use that to his advantage.

My pick: Pryor Via TKO (Strikes)

This pick may surprise you at first but Pryor has been training for over a month now and while it seems he’s newer I think he’ll have better skills to win. We haven’t seen Pryor finish anyone just yet but, he’s got to do it eventually so why not now. As for Bob he’s a great fighter but, I don’t see him picking up a KO on a fighter with a granite chin. Overall it would be an upset and I would love to see it.

“Gentleman” Jim Fox vs Juju Baraka

Up next we have a heavyweight bout. It’s “Gentleman” Jim Fox (7-7-0) taking on Juju Baraka (4-2-0). After four straight wins Baraka finally lost his first HFC fight in his last fight so he’ll be looking to pick up some momentum with a win here. Fox has been very inconsistent with his fights and has the same amount of wins and loses, a win for him here would help him have a winning record. The way I see Fox winning this fight is if he takes it to the ground, he’s shown he can get subs and he is outmatched when it comes to standing in this fight. Baraka has a very straightforward path to winning, just don’t let Fox take you to the ground. This fight will be a clash of styles and one I am looking forward to watching. This is a very important fight for both of these men and let’s see who I think will win.

My pick: Baraka Via KO (Punch)

I think Baraka has a very bright future in the heavyweight division and Fox is just a stepping stone to get there. Baraka completely out matches Fox on while standing and the odds Fox getting a takedown are slim against a skilled fighter like Baraka. Fox isn’t a bad fighter and he’s shown he has a wide variety of skill but Baraka just has the upperhand in this fight. I’d love to see Fox prove me wrong but, that seems unlikely. Overall looking like a fun fight and a good clash of styles.

Harry “The Mauler” Olsen vs John Smith

We have our second light heavyweight fight of the evening. It’s Harry “The Mauler” Olsen (11-6-0) taking on John Smith (4-3-0). This is another standing stand as Olsen and Smith have shown they love to throw out strikes. Olsen has extreme power in his fists picking up many KOs in his career. Smith hasn’t really shown too much but, he has also picked up multiple KOs in his short MMA career. A win for Olsen could set him up as a contender in the division and Smith needs to show why he has a HFC contract. Olsen has really impressed me with his wins getting a victory over Rex and Nurmagedov. Smith really needs to show that he has the ability to get big wins as he doesn’t have many just yet. These two fighters are very similar in fight styles from what I can see and this was a hard one to pick for.

My pick: Olsen Via TKO (Strikes)

This was a tough one to pick but, I had to give it to Olsen as I’ve seen more from him. With crazy power and more experience I think Olsen just edges Smith. Smith has impressive skills and a good future but I don’t see him getting the win here. Overall a very even fight and anything could happen.

Ingot “Please Help” Nofud vs “The British Bulldog” Bald Martin

For our next fight we have Ingot “Please Help” Nofud (6-4-1) taking on “The British Bulldog” Bald Martin (7-2-1). This is an interesting fight as it’s a rematch between these two. Nofud and Martin had a majority draw from their last fight. In their last fight Martin had the clear strategy of taking Nofud to the ground and he managed to land multiple takedowns. Nofud did a good job of defending himself while being on the ground and took the opportunity he had while standing up. Nofud has been doing really well and has been picking up a lot of victories in the welterweight division. Both of these fighters have a good shot of being ranked and that’s why this fight is so important. Martin is just coming off a big loss to King and will be hoping to grab some momentum. We’ve seen from the draw that these two fighters are very even in terms of skills so it’ll be difficult to choose a winner.

My pick: Martin Via Submission (RNC)

Martin already has two subs in his career so we can see that he has the ability to finish an opponent on the ground. We have also seen that Nofud has a hard time defending the takedown. If Martin can get the same amount of takedowns in this fight he has a good shot of winning this one. I wouldn’t count Nofud out but, he is just outmatched and I’m surprised he managed a draw last time out. Overall it’ll be an interesting fight to watch out for.

Nati "Bo" Pisswater vs Roberto "Robocop" Soldic

Next we have a featherweight fight. It’s Nati “Bo” Pisswater (7-3-0) taking on Roberto “Robocop” Soldic(7-5-0). These two fighters are very even with both of them having seven wins, a win for either of these men would help them show who’s the better man. The featherweight division has many great fighters and these two are no exception.  Pisswater is coming off a dominant victory over Wagner where he won in the first round. Soldic is coming off a decision victory over Northwood. Both fighters have momentum going into this fight. Both fighters are skilled while standing up but it'll be difficult to KO Pisswater with his granite chin. If Pisswater can keep this fight standing I think he can win. On the other hand, even though we haven’t seen much of it, Soldic is a superior ground fighter and if he can take Pisswater to the ground he has a good shot of winning. Both fighters have a way to win this fight so let’s see what my pick is.

My pick: Soldic Via Unanimous Decision

This one was an especially hard fight to pick for as I can really see either fighter picking up the win. I choose Soldic because if he can take the fight to the ground and keep it there Pisswater can’t do anything. I choose a decision win as we haven’t seen Soldic pick up a sub win just yet although he is free to prove me wrong. Overall a great fight to keep an eye on and one I’ll definitely watch.

Pinero Chai vs Miguel "Pitbull" Sandoval

Now we have our first ranked fighter tonight it’s Pinero Chai (9-1-1) taking on Miguel “Pitbull” Sandoval (8-6-1). This fight has big implications for the lightweight division as a whole. This is a fight Chai has to win because he is currently ranked third and if wins this it could lead to a title shot down the line. As for Sandoval, he just wants to pick up more wins in HFC, if he wins this it’s possible that he will be ranked in the future. Chai is an amazing striker and has competed in KT events. Chai will want to stay standing and use his amazing KO power. Sandoval is also more a striker and will probably want to stay standing as well. Sandoval could take Chai down to the ground to avoid his striking if he wanted too. Chai has only had one fight in HFC but he showed just what he can do in it picking a clean decision victory. Sandoval started off his HFC career cold with two straight losses but recently, he’s been gaining some momentum. This will just be two strong men throwing punches at each other and seeing who falls first. This is a high stakes fight in the lightweight division and one that could have a large impact.

My pick: Chai Via KO (Punch)

I truly think that Chai will go on to do great things in HFC and has the potential to be a future champion. Chai has insane power and has shown that his striking is in a whole different category. I don’t think that Sandoval is a bad fighter but, there’s a reason Chai is ranked and he isn’t. If you’re a big fan of striking then this is the fight for you!

Joe Tidd vs Bryan “Ferrari” Furry

We’re nearing the end of this event. Next we have Joe Tidd (12-8-0) taking on Bryan “Ferrari” Furry (7-5-0). The first thing I notice is the difference in age and experience, Tidd is six years older and has more fights under his belt. Both these fighters prefer ground and are black belts in BJJ. Furry might want to keep this one though, he out matches Tidd by a large margin while standing. Tidd is one the best ground fighters I’ve ever seen, he is an insanely good grappler and one that is very hard to defend against. Furry has a better record in HFC while Tidd has a better record overall. Tidd definitely wants to win this one if he wants to keep himself in the HFC featherweight division rankings. Whoever wins this could see a title shot in the future if they win this and even have a good chance of winning it. Tidd has a very impressive victory over Diaz and has shown that he can come up clutch when it comes to decisions. Whilst Furry has four wins in HFC none of them are impressive with all the wins being over inferior opponents. Let’s see who I’ve picked.

My pick: Tidd Via Unanimous Decision

Now this was a tough fight for me to pick. I went back and forth on who would win and I only decided on Tidd after seeing his victories. Tidd has impressed in his win against Diaz and he’s shown that he can get decisions. If this fight ends in a finish I could see Furry winning this but, if it goes to decision Tidd has the win. Overall a very close fight between two talented grapplers.

Co-Main Event: Boris Krylov vs Lev Davidovitch "Rebel" Bronstein

It’s time for the co-main event. It’s a heavyweight fight between Boris Krylov (11-4-0) taking on Lev Davidovitch “Rebel” Bronstein. This will be the first of two heavyweight vs super heavyweights fights of the night. Krylov will be smaller but faster while Bronstein will have more KO power. Krylov recently lost both to Wanker and Kocak showing that he can fight with the best of them. Bronstein is also coming off a loss to Kocak. Both of these men are ranked in their divisions and have experience fighting men of different sizes. Krylov’s most impressive win is against Kocak handing him his first and only loss up to date. Krylov is a former heavyweight champion and it shows. Bronstein’s biggest win is a recent one over Ferreria, less impressive but a good win anyway. Bronstein has yet to win a belt in HFC but has challenged multiple times for the super heavyweight belt. Krylov’s best chance of winning is keeping the fight standing and striking Bronstein. Bronsteins best way of winning is by taking Krylov to the mat and dominating him down there. These are two wildly impressive fighters and either one of them could go on to win gold in the future. Let’s see who I’ve picked.

My pick: Krylov Via TKO (Strikes

I’m going to be honest, it’s going to be hard for Krylov to get the finish. Bronstein has a great chin and is way bigger than Krylov but Krylov has insane power in his fists and finished fighters even with the best of chins. Any punch from Krylov can send a fighter onto the mat. Bronstein still has a chance of winning if he can bring the fight to the ground and use his size and BJJ skill to pick up a win. This is a great co-main event and will be an amazing fight. This is a main event caliber fight and I’ll be very excited to see how it unfolds.

MAIN EVENT: Massive Wanker vs Demir Kocak

For our main event of the evening it’s a fight for the super heavyweight title. It’s Massive Wanker (13-0-0) taking on Demir Kocak (12-1-0). Wow what a main event, it’s the two best fighters in the org duking it out to see who is the king of hardcore. These two giant fighters have impressed me with their skill and this will be a hard one to choose a winner for. Wanker has a 53 pound weight advantage in this fight and he really lives up to name. Wanker’s best way to win this fight is to use his size and power to take the fight to the ground, having eight subs in his career he can finish the fight down there. Kocak has to keep this fight standing and defend well against the takedown and to use his KO power to pick up a finish. Wanker has many big wins in his career but, I would say his biggest is against Slugs. Slugs is a HFC hall of famer and a great fighter in his own right and Wanker has beaten him twice. Kocak’s biggest win was against Krylov, Krylov is a very impressive fighter and has already beaten Kocak. Kocak has shown he has the power and ability to finish fights. Wanker is currently the third best super heavyweight in the world and is undefeated so a win over an opponent like Kocak would be huge for him. If Kocak wins this he’ll be a double champion and one of the best fighters in the world, a win here would be the single most important moment in his career. I don’t know if I’ve ever been this hype for a fight, this is going to be crazy. Let’s see my pick.

My pick: Wanker Via Submission (Armbar)

There is a very good reason Wanker is undefeated and I don’t think Kocak will be the one to usurp his throne. Wanker is just better in every way and is an unstoppable force. He’s also impossible to KO with the size difference. You can’t block his takedowns and you can’t KO him, he is a beast among men. Kocak is a very impressive fighter in his own right but Wanker is on a whole different level. Overall an amazing main event and a great way to start off 2021.

Predicted KO of the night: Pinero Chai

Predicted Sub of the night: Massive Wanker

Predicted fight of the night: Nati Pisswater v Roberto Soldic

Wow what an event, this is what I would call a supercard. There are so many great fights to watch out for and the implications of this event will be felt for a long time. There is a good mix of fighters and really anything could happen. I want to give a special thanks to JW Hardman for giving me the opportunity to write for HFC. I’m Alexei Smirnov and this was your HFC 54 preview, thank you all!
