Get to know Akio Kurosaki!

Fighter profile of Akio Kurosaki by Bjorn O'Donnel

Akio Kurosaki

15 p4p

After being released by my previous manager Louie DePalma, I ended up on some MMA list were all neglected fighters are shorlisted and drafted by the not so picky managers. Some gentleman from Belgium picked me up from the gutter, while all other managers left me for the piece of shit they assumed that I was.
First thing that happened was a long conversation with my new manager Bjorn
I hope he doesn't read this, but boy can that guy talk for ages about little irrelevant stuff, nuts!

Anyway, we discussed what the future would look like and we decided that I wasn't worthy yet to join an elite gym like 'The Grind', so instead I signed up for a public gym and put in the work. I was always the first there and cleaned up afterwards. Humble and hard working.

I was hoping to sign a contract at a mid-level org and see how that would go, but my manager wasn't having any of that. He renegotiated a contract at Syn and I started my way from the very bottom of the foodchain. I showcased my power and skills in my first four fight (combined not even 10minutes of octagon work), eventually getting offered a fight against a guy many considered high up on the foodchain, Hiroshi Ekaku, managed by a certain Mr. Karter. When offered the fight, my manager told me that Mr. Karter was very certain that his fighter could beat anyone in the world and that his fighter would send me back to the gutter in no time, where I belonged according to him.
I laughed, got to work and put on a dominating performance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Akio Kurosaki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kurosaki winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
Judge Yasuomi Hirokawa scores the fight 27:30
Judge Shigeki Fujiwara scores the fight 27:30
Judge Yukihiro Shimada scores the fight 27:30

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Akio Kurosaki!
Akio Kurosaki was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.

After the fight, it turned out that Mr. Karter was a very sour loser, but that shouldn't surprise anyone.

The smile on my face was quickly gone, when I got a fight offer for the Syn 145lbs belt in my mail, against Mr. Manny Puno. I was honestly shocked, honored, thrilled and scared at the same time.
If there is anyone that I respect in the MMA-scene, then it is most certainly Manny Puno.
What he has done for Syn and our division is beyond words.
He has beaten the who is who of MMA and also mobbed the floor twice with my past foe Ekaku.
It was safe to say that I was a massive underdog going into this fight and I knew that I had to be top notch.
I requested training camp at The Grind, but was denied. Only a win over Puno would get me in, so I put my head down and went to work in my training camp.
The rest? The rest is history.

Kurosaki is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Puno can do to turn this around?
Kurosaki scores with a decent looking hook.
Kurosaki just misses with a punch to the body.
Manny Puno has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kurosaki steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Puno.
Kurosaki throws a nice inside leg kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Akio Kurosaki showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kurosaki has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
