IXF V

Organization: Island Xtreme Fighting
Date: 21 Mar 2021
City: The Island (17:00 GMT)
Arena: The Underground - The Island (1,000)

Back to the Underground for the second night in a row for IXF V.

170 lbs Eddie Bravo (4-0) v Marcus Behnder (4-1)

The top two welterweights in the division go toe-to-toe for ultimate bragging rights. Eddie Bravo has raced out to a 4-0 record, winning his first IXF fight at IXF III with submission of the night. It only took one takedown and two sub attempts to lock in the arm triangle and make Patrick Watt scream for his momma. Bravo has four subs in as many fights and will look for number five next. Marcus Behnder drops back to his natural weight and hopes to regain some of the moxy beaten out of him by A New Car at IXF II. It wasn’t pretty, but he likely doesn’t remember it anyway and will focus on what worked through the first four fights. Similar to Bravo, Behnder is a groundwork specialist so this one will come down to who can execute.

Prediction: Behnder makes Moose Jaw proud and pulls of the submission win

265 lbs Louis Gingerbeard (2-0) v Phuc Dat Bich (2-0)

Now we’re talking. Another great matchups of undefeated fighters. Louis Captain Gingerbeard has walked a tight line in his IXF career, going the distance in both fights. His last fight at IXF III won him fight of the night, a close 29-28 decision against Barrett Barber. It was fought exclusively in the clinch and took so much of a toll on Barber that he retired from the sport after the matchup. That left Gingerbeard as the clear #1 fighter in the division, a rank his opponent will look to take away. Phuc Dat "Humongous" Bich beat my best friend, Lewis Palma, at IXF III, winning a surprisingly easy 38 second submission via guillotine. He put on a clinic, overpowering with his wrestling skills, and sending Palma out to pasture.

Prediction: Gingerbeard’s luck runs out. Dat Bich wins to go 3-0.

155 lbs Mihail Strutu (2-1) v Ricky Luciano (2-0)

This Lightweight bout features an undefeated fighter in Luciano taking on Mihail Strutu who is looking to get back to the winning ways prior to running into his last opponent at IXF III.  Luciano features a high success rate when leaning heavily on his head punches while mixing in enough other striking attacks that will keep his opponent on his toes.  In his IXF debut he won a lopsided Unanimous Decision victory and will be looking to continue that success on March 21st.  Luciano possesses a slight Muay Thai skill advantage could pose serious issues for Strutu if the fight remains at distance or goes to the clinch.  Luciano will look to continue his climb up the IXF Lightweight division rankings while Strutu will be seeking redemption in his return to the cage

Prediction:  Strutu has the power to touch up the chin of Luciano and if he comes into this one head hunting we may see Luciano’s lights go out.

265+ lbs Jorlan Vieira (2-0) v Torraso Fisticuffs (1-0)

Jorlan "Pitbull" Vieira is going to fight on short rest for this super heavyweight battle. He fought back on the 14th at IXF III, an impressive KO win against Clegane that pushed his record to 2-0. It was a bloodbath from the start; Vieira cut him early, knocked him down twice and finally finished him off at the 43 second mark. Hard to expect the same type of dominant results again against a better opponent. Torraso Fisticuffs won his QFC warm-up before joining IXF with similar nastiness. It took him 53 seconds to cut, knockdown, rock and finish off Poseidon Waters. His offense was on-par, only missing one of his many strikes thrown. Who has the chin to survive this one?

Prediction: Vieira, that’s who. He goes to 2-0 after another knockout win.

265+ lbs Mizark Coleman (1-0) v Kevin Federline (1-0)

Two IXF newcomers in the 265+ division lock horns. Mizark "The Smesher" Coleman smeshed his way to a 32 second knockout win in his QFC warm-up, using a nice takedown to pound his opponent into the ground. "K-Fed" Kevin Federline won his QFC warm-up as well, forcing the ring-side doctor to call the fight on account of a profusely bleeding cut. Nasty. He landed all but one of his 40 punches thrown and worked mostly out of the clinch.

Prediction: Coleman got cut in his first fight, not a great sign considering he destroyed his opponent. Federline goes to 2-0.

205 lbs Klarance King (1-0)  v Cannon Fodder (1-0)

Up next we see a Light Heavyweight clash take place between Klarance King who is making his promotion debut against Cannon Fodder who even though he is undefeated in his IXF career barely tips the needle of interest for most fight fans.  King holds the reach advantage in this one and I believe he will look to expose that by staying on the outside to pick away at his opponent.  He appears to have the better chin and he will need it as Fodder will look to chip away at it either in the clinch or after exposing the Wrestling advantage he has over King by possibly going to the ground.

Prediction: Fodder will use his smarts to outwit King in this one for a UD victory

205 lbs Abdul Kadir (1-0) v Minato Kuroda (1-0)

Abdul Kadir started his IXF career with a mid-1st round submission stoppage of Louciano Chaderito. Kadir didn’t initiate the ground game, but he certainly took advantage when it got there, working aggressively from the bottom and snapping Chaderito’s arm off. Kuroda won his QFC warm-up, but had to come back after a poor first round to win it 29-28. He used strong ground defense and negated 19 sub attempts, likely tiring his opponent out in the process. It was about the only thing that worked for Kuroda and he’ll have to hope his offense speeds up.

Prediction: Kuroda can’t lay and pray for another match and hope to win. He loses his first fight.

135 lbs Poop Poopp (1-0) v Cody Garbrandt (2-0)

Two of eight fighters in the rarely used 135 pound division square off next. Poop "poops in the " Poopp just finished his QFC warm-up on the 16th so he won’t have a lot of time to recover and prepare. He won by easy unanimous decision, using a solid ground and pound game to make the judges’ decision easy. Rumor has it that he poops in poop. Cody "No Love" Garbrandt has no love for his 2-and-0 start. He also just completed his QFC fight on the 16th, a much easier 1st round submission that shouldn’t leave him as tired for this one.

Prediction: They faced the same opponent, Darko Lee, so there is a small measure of comparison. Garbrandt wins via submission.

155 lbs Lyle Holliday (0-0) v Don Peccorino (1-2)

Our second fight of the evening sees Lyle Holiday make his professional debut against veteran Don Peccorino.  Both combatants are making their IXF debuts and are looking to begin successful careers.  Peccorino comes into this tilt having lost his last amateur match via a vicious (T)KO just over 1 minute of the first round.  He looks to still be suffering the blues which will be a big advantage for Holliday as he will undoubtedly look to expose that chin once again.  We have called around to try and find video footage of Holliday to get a feel for what his approach may be however have thus far come up empty handed so like us you will have to wait until after these warriors make the walk down to the cage.

Prediction: Holliday will walk away in this one with a KO victory inside of the 1st round.

265+ lbs Javier Graves (1-0) v Ser Gregor Clegane (0-1)

Javier "Grande Hermano" Graves coms off the street to join IXF for his first organizational fight. He won his QFC warm-up late last month, an early third-round knockout against now-retired PJ Pavlovic. How much can be taken from that fight is yet to be determined, but Graves dominated in all aspects of the fight before forcing his opponent to throw in the towel. Ser Gregor "The Mountain” Clegane lost to Jorlan Vieira at IXF III in embarrassing fashion, but the quick knockout loss has allowed him to recuperate in time for this one. He got stuffed on all his offense, so lets hope for his sake that he’s been able to train enough to pick up the pace.

Prediction: With more training time, I’d take Clegane, but he gets stuffed again. Graves via decision.
