Welcome back fight fans as we see IXF make what should be their final stop at the Underground. Tonights fight card is following up on this past Wednesdays show that saw a company record 1474 adoring MMA fans hit the turnstiles at Hyashi’s Lounge, a record that likely will not last very long at all.
In our Main Event of the evening we see a Lightweight battle close out the show in what will most certainly see a contender step out looking for a chance to throw down for the IXF Lightweight belt.
155 lbs Ricky Luciano v Angus McCloud
We see two dangerous strikers square off in a fight we don’t expect to last much more then 1 round. Neither combatant has tasted defeat thus far in their young careers. Luciano holds a very slim reach advantage with a clear advantage in the Muay Thai discipline and has also proven to be much more active in his victories then McCloud. He also has enjoyed a very high level of accuracy in those victories especially when it comes to his punches. On the other hand McCloud holds a very distinct advantage in Boxing skills and has enjoyed even more accuracy success however in much less attempts, which shows just how much power he packs and unleashes it quickly. I don’t see this one lasting much more then 3 or 4 minutes it will come down to which guy has the better chin, this one is a virtual coin toss but my money’s on Luciano, last time I bet against him he made sure to throw it back in my face!!
205 lbs Cannon Fodder v Abdul Kadir
Up next we have a solid matchup between two Light Heavyweights looking to stake their claim on a shot at the gold. Both these warriors come into action with identical 2-0 records inside the IXF cage with zero experience outside of the first round of their fights. Once again Cannon Fodder enters the cage with little fanfare at all, could there ever be another fighter enjoying this kind of success all while knowing he is merely being thrown to the wolves with little regard and being totally expendable within his managers stable. Even though his background is in the art of Muay Thai, Fodder prefers to take his prey into the clinch and batter them into next week. The fact remains however he is not afraid to roll around on the ground as his last matchup proved, take him down at your own risk as he has a sneaky submission game waiting for you. Facing off on the other side is BJJ specialist Kadir who is managed by the mouthy one GWad, never afraid to throw threats and demands and has a surprising devotion to Joe Biden?? No idea why this guy likes to talk damn politics all the friggin time, this is a fight game, stand up and bang already! Anyways this is not about the manager, its about the fighter and Kadir’s one scary dude indeed who appears to make no effort whatsoever to attack, and rather sit back and wait for a mistake, which he always capitalizes on. So far in 2 trips Kadir has not attempted many offensive moves at all, preferring to either lie down for his opponent or drag him down from the clinch. Why do I get a vision of Nick Diaz here, lying on the mat waiting for his opponent to jump on down and cuddle? Considering this dude apparently “Prefers standup” I think he lacks any intelligence at all. Very much like the Main event this one is a coin flip and because of Kadir’s inability to follow his hidden talents I got Fodder in this one via a 2nd round (T)KO.
185 lbs Adio Harris v Enzo Williams
Next up is a tilt between the much taller Adio Harris and Enzo Williams. Harris lost his amateur debut after being rag dolled on the mat by now retired Darren Till just 9 days ago and he will be here to make up for that result. Harris holds a very distinct height and reach advantage towering over Williams by 30 cm, this will no doubt make this stick man very vulnerable to the approach of much more experienced wrestler Williams. Harris did not get off any offensive attacks in his first match however did enjoy some defensive success while on the mat but unfortunately those successes were overshadowed by the beating he took which saw his lights go out 5 seconds prior to the buzzer of round 1. Williams on the other hand is also making his professional debut following a 5 fight amateur career that looked very promising at first but was quickly shot down by Heavy Handed IXF fighter Patrick Watt. This defeat was so brutal Williams former manager just couldn’t bear it and kicked him to the curb to become someone elses play toy. Luckily for Enzo Island savant Callum McGregor saw something in his eyes and decided to give him another chance at success and an opportunity to continue his career in the #1 fight promotion here on the island. Hopefully Harris has found his missing confidence in time for the first bell of this one, as if he hasn’t his night will likely be over quickly. I got Williams in this one because even though his last trip to the cage proved his chin is made of brittle glass, his early 4 wins were no total fluke and he clearly outclasses his opponent today. Look for a 1st submission ending Harris’s night before it even began
265+ lbs Zion Lewis v Ser Gregor Clegane
Now its time to step aside to clear room for the bigaboys to step inside the cage as we see Muay Thai specialist Zion Lewis match up against BJJ brawler Ser Gregor Clegane. Lewis has some made power as displayed during his debut on the amateur circuit when he ended the night early against his Granite Chinned foe just a mere 0:42 into the very first round. Lewis was no slouch at keeping the fight on the feet as he stuffed all 5 takedown attempts thrown his way by his opponent. After that all it took was one superman punch to shut off the lights and send his dance partner home with a devastating finish. BJJ Brown belt Clegane will definitely want to do anything and everything he can to break that goose egg and get Lewis onto the ground as that is where he is most dangerous as his single attempt at a sub showed with great success an even more impressive 0:28 into the initial frame! Even with a Granite chin Clegane has shown a tendency in the past to be a bleeder which wont bode well against a power puncher like Lewis. This one is hard to call for sure, as all fight fans love the big knockout finish however there is something about the art of tap or snap, and I am calling Clegane to drag this fight into the later rounds where he will also drag Lewis into the deep water he has never experienced and expose a limb and make him tap quicker then our good friend Connor against the Eagle!
265 lbs Andrey Karaev v Marcus Gilliam
The final fight of our maincard sees two more big men throw down as Andrey Karaev takes on Marcus Gilliam. Both these men have only seen the inside of an IXF cage and tonight they will be looking for a more exciting battle then they enjoyed in their debuts. Karaev won a fairly uneventful split decision in a fight that most certainly could have gone the other way. Overcoming multiple knockdowns during the fight Karaev was able to win over the judges and score the victory. His solid chin was exposed and we wonder if it has recoved in time to meet up with fellow striker Gilliam. Though a good boxer Gilliam does not show off any intimidating hidden abilities that would strike fear into any opponent. Gilliam leans heavy on a punch only offense which is what we wonder could cause issues with Karaev and his suspect chin. Much like his opponent Gilliams only fight went the distance where he lost a razor thin UD and we here are hoping for a lot more excitement in this one. I got this one ending mid way through round 2 with Karaev recovering from his chin issues in his debut and leaning heavily on Gilliam until he puts his lights out for the night to open the main portion of our show!
