SYN 802 & 803 Previews!

Ladies and Gents, my name is Tycoon Hec and I am stoked to bring you the Main and co-main events from this upcoming weekend and a fight that I am personally excited about in Complex vs Point. This weekend both the Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight titles are on the line in what should be thrilling matchups. A co-main sees two top Heavyweight contenders battle to be next in line and another Co-main sees a middleweight matchup that fight fans will be drooling over. Let's get into the fights!

SYN 802 Maluga vs Raper

Heavyweight Championship

For the main event of the evening we see the matchup fight fans have been waiting what feels like ages for. Kilo “Bloodbath” Maluga (22-7) defends his title against the always dangerous Biff Raper (28-11). Kilo, who is undoubtedly one of the most electrifying heavyweights to enter the cage holds an impressive 14 knockout of the night awards to his name and stands out as the number 2 pound for pound fighter in the world. Fight fans will surely be expecting that number to rise if he is able to put away Raper early on. Biff Raper is riding a four fight win streak with three of them coming by way of knockout by punches. Raper himself holds 5 fight of the night awards and 5 knockout of the night awards making him an exciting fighter to watch perform inside the cage. These two are so similar in build that there really feels like there is no clear advantage in weight or height but that it will all boil down to skill and both these guys are elite in almost every area of their game. Critics have wondered about the fact that Raper has fought and trained longer than his opponent Maluga but that hasn't stopped Maluga from finishing other guys before. This fight is one of those fights that will surely bring a ton of blood and will undoubtedly end in a knockout. Both of these guys love to get in the center of the cage and just trade shots. It should be no surprise to fight fans then when we see that happen at the opening sound of the bell. Fight fans have been claiming that Raper will be utilizing his strikes aiming to open up the scar tissue on Maluga while setting up for a heavy tko style finish. Maluga fans are raving about how Raper has been finished 7 times and twice recently by head kicks and fully expect Maluga to throw a cro cop style head kick towards Raper. Personally, I think Maluga will look to initiate the clinch while trying to avoid the dangerous kicks of Raper. I think Maluga presses him and drops hellacious shots while his opponent is pinned up in the cage finishing him by the third.

Prediction: Maluga takes it in the third via TKO.

SYN 802 Barbarian vs Cruz Jr.

Heavyweight Matchup

Former heavyweight champion of Syn and current SFL champion Conor the Barbarian (26-6) has put on an incredible amount of weight for his upcoming matchup against Jorge “The Colossus” Cruz Jr. (27-14). Rumors are circulating that the Barbarian is currently weighing around 280lbs which is significant once this fight comes to strikes. Both of these heavyweights had lost their last matchup to the two men in the main event this evening. It is strange to consider how close they were to a title shot and how close they still very much are, we could be seeing this fight as a rematch down the line for Syn and I would not be one bit surprised as both of these guys are just complete destroyers in the cage. The Barbarian, who has an outstanding 7 knockout of the night awards and 10 fight of the night awards stands as the slight favorite going into this one. His one punch knockout power has been sending guys crashing to the mats for his entire career as proof of the 25 of his 26 wins coming by way of knockout. Fight fans of Cruz Jr. feel no real concern for their fighter going into this one as they know that Cruz holds 25 of his 27 wins by knockout and usually gets the job done in the first round. Should this fight stay standing, which I believe it will, it is anyone's game. Both of these guys love to strike and are so good at it. This fight will really turn out to be whomever lands first and that is the real reason I think this fight will be replayed down the road. The reality of the ground game is that Cruz Jr. is a phenomenal black belt Jiu Jitsu artist, he just never chooses to go to the ground. His teammates have shared that they believe should Cruz Jr. get this fight to the ground Barbarian will be forced to tap out once again. However, getting the fight to the ground is no easy task and getting it against Barbarian is an especially dangerous one.

Prediction: Barbarian knocks out Cruz Jr. in the second.

SYN 802 Complex vs Point

Featherweight Match-up

A member of the National Guard, Military Industrial Complex (26-5) holds an outstanding record at the age of 38 and he looks to keep the ball rolling as he takes on the always dangerous Brayden Point (21-3). Point who has only lost three fights has lost two to the former champion Puno in a wonderful trilogy and his most recent loss comes under his new manager. Point was a former champion of Syn and a few other organizations so dealing with the pressure of being center stage is not something that truly bothers him. Moving forward against an opponent like Complex this fight will be a tough one to call. Complex is one of those guys that can beat you anywhere the fight ends up going. He is deadly with his submissions and fearsome with his strikes. If he gets you on the mat you will tap. If you choose to exchange you may find yourself waking up wondering what went wrong. Standing across from him in Point is a guy who thoroughly enjoys knocking out his opponents but never goes to the scorecards to earn the win so he will settle for submissions as he has done so before. These two guys are the definitions of finishers reaching high in the rankings of their division by taking guys out. The interesting thing to see is how will Point fare under his new manager. Neither of these guys are considered to be in immediate title contention range but they are moving in steadily and this is another eliminator on the path to that title. Recent military exercises seem to have taken a lot of Complex’s time and fight fans are skeptical that he is devoting the proper time and attention to his training especially now that his son Hero Complex is fighting on the 27th of June. A lot is on the line for these fighters and this is one of my favorite fights of the weekend!

Prediction: Despite all the distractions I believe Complex will take home the win and make a solid run for the title.

SYN 803  Al Din vs Whymer

Light Heavyweight Championship

Former Syn Light Heavyweight Champion “Tasmanian Jesus” Badr Al Din (23-14) gets his shot at redemption when he takes on the new leader of the division in Just Whymer (31-11-3). In a matchup that is expected to be filled with fireworks, these two light heavyweight monsters are engaging in a fight together for the second time. In the first match Whymer was coming off a tough split decision loss prior to taking on Al Din. The lead up to the fight saw a very different, more aggressive Whymer. Teammates had spoke about how he was putting in extra hours at the gym and was breaking down sparring partners left and right. The night of the fight came and he avoided all the strikes apart from one leg kick from Al Din. Whymer rushed his opponent, cutting his eye open and eventually stopping him with a flurry of strikes. Since then, that was the start of Whymers 6 fight win streak and he just recently competed against the Gamma champ to earn himself the pound for pound best fighter on the planet. Welcoming Al Din back to the cage should not be considered as some walk in the park, since his loss to the current champion, the now contender Al Din has looked more violent in his matches finishing multiple opponents. Between these two there are about 16 fight of the night awards and a whole lot of bad blood. Al Din has been working extensively on his striking accuracy and expects to finish his opponent before the second round even begins. That certainly is a tall order but judging the way Al Din has improved I would nto be too shocked. In this upcoming rematch, fight fans can expect that these two will mix up their strikes looking for that knockout blow. Neither fighter will likely engage in the clinch or go for takedowns so this is honestly going to be a rockem sockem fight like you have never seen. This is my prediction for fight of the night!

Prediction: I believe Al Din stops Whymer in a shocking upset during the second round via KO.

SYN 803 Camara vs Girard

Middleweight Matchup

Ibrahim Camara (36-16-1) was previously managed under the controversial Ibrahim Camara who is no longer with us, and garnered a reputation of a fighter who looks for the finish every time he goes in the cage.  His opponent this weekend is Gaultier “Le Commandant” Girard (37-7) who is riding a three fight win streak and aiming to regain his shot at the Middleweight Title. Girard, who has 21 knockouts of his 30 wins is undoubtedly considered a finisher when it comes to the cage and his manager Lance Templeton is one of the greatest to ever do it. Girard, will be welcoming Camara to the Syns middleweight division. Fight fans have taken over buzz and claimed that Camara is nowhere near ready for an opponent like Girard despite being the former Alpha-1 Champion. These two strikers will aim to put the other to sleep at the start of the opening bell. Girard has numerous first round finishes under his belt and is a holder of 10 of the night awards. Ibrahim himself is a holder of an incredible 15 of the night awards and hopes to get his 16th after this weekend's fights are over. The real question of this fight is will Camara perform well under his new manager Andrew Wittig or will he crumble under the pressure of trying to meet the new expectations of Wittig? Will he fare well against his opponent in the significant step up in competition or will he fall short against one of the toughest competitors in Syn.
Prediction: Gaultier “Le Commandante” Girard takes the win late in the third via KO
