Robert reflects : “You know, making R'n'B and doing MMA, it's not that different. When the lights are on, you gotta perform ! Except when I was touring with my R'n'B project, I wasn't taking people down and beating them up !” he laughs heartily, before whispering, looking into the distance “No matter what those girls said to the cops...”.

Around 3 months after the suave R'n'B singer started training, he made his professional debut at SENSEI FC 17. Facing Taigen Gomi, a tough Muay Thai practitioner, he took him down in the first few seconds of the fight. What followed were 7 minutes of complete domination by Mr Kelly. After landing an impressive number of strikes from top position and attempting a guillotine from half guard, Kelly got to mount in the last minute of the 1st round and worked some heavy ground and pound from there. At the start of Round 2, Kelly quickly took his opponent down again and found the fight-ending kimura just before 2 minutes had passed in the round.

“You know, I'm still making music, I always will I think. Maybe now I'll start writing songs about the magic I do in the cage ! Or maybe I'll start singing my R'n'B in there. I definitely hope my opponents will like it, but for sure it'll calm me down, which is good !” he laughs.

And we'll be listening, Robert. We'll be listening.
