BKA 1 Event Preview

Event Preview: BKA1 | Dastanov vs Doncic
British Kickboxing Association
2022-08-26, London, Micro Arena - London
Author:Steven Davis

The British Kickboxing Association holds its first event next Saturday (27/8), and its already looking like a strong card to kick off this organisations event calendar. With confirmed 6 fights, each scheduled for 5 rounds of 3 mins, the card features 4 Light-Heavyweight bouts, a Featherweight clash before culminating in a Heavyweight main event.

First to feature are William Mcintyre and Buster Kavanaugh, two Featherweights. Mcintyre (0-0 KT) will be looking to spring an upset as he moves up a division from his usual weight class. Kavanaugh (1-0 MMA, 0-0 KT) meanwhile, will be looking to make an impression on his KT debut.

Following that, the first of our 4 fights at Light-Heavyweight, as Hamed Seniors (1-0 MMA, 0-0 KT) and Stavros Halkias (0-0 KT) clash. Despite Seniors having a little more experience, the betting favourite is undoubtedly Halkias, who is hoping to show he is a present and clear danger to the 205 division.

After that, comes another 205 clash, as Drew Tate (0-0 KT) faces off against Bulgarian Aleksandr Borisov (0-1 MMA, 0-0 KT). This one looks fairly evenly matched, if both fighters bring their best, this should be a cracking fight.

Continuing the Light-Heavyweight bonanza is JT Thornback (0-0 KT) and Alfredo Morelos (0-1 MMA, 0-0 KT). Thornback is an excellent boxer, while Morelos possesses some quality in Muay Thai. Morelos is coming back off a damning defeat in which he sustained some injuries, therefore Thornback is a slight favourite.

The final Light-Heavyweight fight of the evening is Ali Sattari (0-0 KT) facing Saravan Kaewdara (0-0 KT). The fighters are well matched, although Sattari appears to have the slight skill edge, and as such is the favourite to win.

The main event sees two Heavyweights clash as Kazakhstani boxer Beibitzhan Dastanov (3-2 MMA, 0-0 KT) fight Slovenian kickboxer Luka Doncic (0-1 MMA, 4-2 KT). While Dastanov has a slight edge in boxing, Doncic’s Muay Thai prowess should be enough to win this fight. Doncic has previously competed in S-1, a Tokyo kickboxing company that has since closed.

Writer’s fight to watch: Drew Tate vs Aleksandr Borisov has the makings of an excellent, technical fight. Both fighters are the same age, have similar motivations and aspirations, and are equally matched in terms of fighting ability. It’s really tough to make a prediction, but I think Tate wins this via decision.
