The KFA - Five part special - Part one

About Me: Don Frye

It has officially been a year now that the head of the table Andrei entered the cage for the first time. We take a look back on how successful the KFA has been over the past year in this five-part special.

Andrei has had a slightly difficult year which had the highs and lows that he did not expect. He won with relative ease the DMMA HW crown before losing it to Hightower and then losing in the rematch to Barboza. Andrei has moved out of the ID orgs and into the big leagues with SPPS.

Andrei started off as many expected – ripping his way through the HW division at DMMA. After labouring through his first fight, he managed to pick up the pace, wasting opponents quickly. Rogue and Diaz were considered fodder on Andrei’s quick rise up the ranks. Former champion Durand was considered his first real test – yet he lasted less than three minutes in with the golden one. Faulk another former champion, was next up, but he was even less of a challenge – lasting 52 seconds against Andrei.

Andrei had positioned himself for the next title shot against the Angel of Death, Bento Barboza who was 18-3 at this point. The fight was nicely balanced before Andrei slapped Barboza and landed a body kick which made him wince. It was not a couple of seconds after that that Andrei sent Barboza into the shadow realm with a KO.

Still in a high over winning the first title for the KFA – Andrei went in ill prepared against Hightower. Hightower who up until that time had never gone the distance in MMA, went 5 hard rounds against Andrei without being able to properly hurt him. In fact, it was Andrei near the end of the fight that put Hightower on his ass, but it was not enough.

Andrei bounced back with a quick win over Grumpy fighter Hurry which wasn’t much ado about anything. He then rematched against Barboza. It was a closer fight this time around with Andrei refusing to listen to his corner and deciding it was a boxing match. Much to the credit of Andrei however, he managed to last all three rounds before losing a UD.

Andrei decided then to move to OFK hunting Runt fighter Lovanov. After two easy wins Andrei was in position to fight Lovanov. However, Lovanov seen him coming and ran to GAMMA – a place where no Kersikov shall step foot.

Andrei recently put pen to paper in SPPS – winning his first fight against Marky’s Parta Matti. He is now in line to fight recently title contender and OMWP member Crazy Horse’s Noah Anderson. A fight which could see him one step closer to the SPPS heavyweight title.
