Jammond "Clock Work" Hughes

Fighter profile of Jamond Hughes by Tycoon Judas

Jammond "Clock Work" Hughes

Jammond was born in Queens,NY and as a child was a huge Mike Tyson fan and was always trying to imitate the former world champ. When he turned 16 he started going to a local gym in queens where he fell in love with the art of boxing. By the age of 18 he had a remarkable amateur record of 37-4-0 all four losses where by way of DQ unfortunately though (Jammond has a bit of a anger problem).

He turned pro in 2008 and had a nice run in his career but was always a dirty fighter in the ring , well known for headbutting.Hughes was banned for life from boxing for excessive violent tendancies. After his exit from boxing Hughes fell into some hard times as he moved to Las Vegas and fell in with the wrong crowd quickly. His Alcoholism and gambling problems nearly ended his life until he stummbled into a MMA gym in Vegas Miletich Xtreme Fighting Systems owned by Pat Miletich. Pat was instantly drawned to Jammonds punching power and took the young man under his wing. He now trains directly with Miletich on a daily basis and lives at the gym. Now focused Hughes hopes to make his MMA debut soon and looks to be a force in the Lackluster Superheavyweight Division.

I had a chance to sit down with Pat and Jammond for a few questions on how his training was going

Interviewer: So Jammond after a not so positive Boxing career how do you plan on changing your critics opinion on your attittude this time around as you begin your MMA career.

Jammond: Listen i was a very young man when i started boxing and was under horrible managment at the time. I made a lot of pointless and violent mistakes in the boxing ring, but im a new man now. Pat here has changed my life and i am now feeling great about myself and look forward to proven all my haters wrong.

Interviewer: Pat when you first saw Jammond what did you think of the guy.

Pat: To be honest when i first saw this guy i thought he really needs to stay away from the all you can eat buffet. Once i saw him hit the bag though it really changed my outlook on Jammond and i knew he might one day be a very succesfull MMA star.

Interviewer: Jammond when do you plan on making your pro mma debut and for what orginazation do you plan on signing with.

Jammond: I have really been trying to focus on my training at the moment and haven't thought to much about it. Since you ask though let's see Pat has gave me some good ideas on where to start my career the one org at the top of my list right now is Torment MMA in LA. They have a great division, where i think i could make a big run. I also have been thinking of trying a few QFC fights before signing with anyone. Let's just say though if someone makes me a offer that is gonna fatten my wallet i may consider other options.

Interviewer: This question is for both of you guys, as a boxer how is your transition going as you convert over to MMA.

Jammond: Come on man really look who my trainer is and look at the guys im training with at MXFC of course it's gonna go smooth.

Pat: I have been working with Jammond for roughly 8 hours a day training his basic physicals and working on his BJJ for the Majority of the sessions. His Takedown Defense is looking awesome and on the ground his is very powerful. He has been showing some great progress with his grappling. All in all he has a lot still to learn but training with some of my more experienced fighters will be the best thing for his future.

Interviewer: Got one last question for you Mr. Hughes whats the deal with the nickname "Clock Work" whats that all about.

Jammond: (Jammond laughing hysterically} tell you what man it's simple when i am in there doing my thang in the catch it's like Clock Work Baby.
