HERO 29: Naama vs Lazerous

Prelims

Featherweight Division:  Mike Stillao vs Carlos Martinez

Mike Stillao worked hard for takedowns in this one, but couldn't manage to get the fight to the mat. That resulted in an unbelievably lopsided striking battle. Martinez outstruck Stillao 188-0 in a fight that surprisingly didn't have any 10-8 rounds. However, the judges still chose the correct winner. Result: Martinez by unanimous decision

Middleweight Division: Taisto Rahapussi vs Paul ed

The striking was close in the first round of this one, but Rahapussi managed to cut Paul ed and land a few more shots. He could've coasted to collect the round, but instead played aggressively and pulled guard. From the bottom, he grabbed ahold of ed's arm and made him tap. Result: Rahapussi by 1st round submission (Armbar)

Middleweight Division: Bingo Steel vs Rafael Carneiro

Steel made a very bizarre strategy decision in this one. Holding only a blue belt, he decided to pull guard on Carneiro, who holds a brown belt. Carneiro made him pay for that error in judgment by quickly advancing to full mount, then taking Steel's back and locking in a choke. Result: Carneiro by 1st round submission (Rear Naked Choke)

Light Heavyweight Division: Hakuma Hariyuoki vs Dave De Decker

Hariyuoki was the more aggressive fighter in this one, constantly pushing the fight into the clinch where he could work a combination of knees and dirty boxing. De Decker seemed overwhelmed and chose to defend rather than attack with any offense of his own. Eventually, the damage accumulated and the ref knew what he had to do. Result: Hariyuoki by 1st round TKO (Strikes)

Light Heavyweight Division: Jaarko Hahlund vs Dielange Lamzak

Hahlund's c ombos were deadly in this one. The first he threw cut Lamzak. The second knocked him to the floor. After waving Lamzak back to his feet, he unloaded a devastating head kick that made the world go dark for Dielange Lamzak. Result: Hahlund by 1st round KO (Head Kick)

Main Card

Middleweight Division: Vitor Beranubus vs Eliod Bunkley Iii

Beranubus worked hard for takedowns in this fight. He managed to get two, but couldn't do much with them. On the feet, Bunkley had the clear advantage, battering Bernanubus with punches. However, it was following one of the takedowns that he managed to end the fight, grabbing ahold of Beranubus' neck.  Result: Bunkley Iii by 2nd round submission (Guillotine)

Heavyweight Division: Ken Hall vs Ludo Kopper

In a battle of undefeated heavyweights, Ken Hall dominated the first round with takedowns and ground and pound. Kopper bounced back in the second by knocking down Hall and cutting him up pretty badly. The third round was an even battle, but midway through the round, the doctor decided that Hall's cut was too bad to continue. Boos reigned down from the stands. Fans never like to see an epic battle like this one ended by the doctor. Result: Kopper by 3rd round TKO (Cut)

Lightweight Division: Dimitri Kasavanov vs Natalie Renee

Renee used a nice mixture of striking and clinchwork to dominate the first round. However, Kasavanov came back in the second and third with takedowns and the ability to control the fight on the mat. A big credit needs to go to Renee, who was able to defend 14 submission attempts from the skilled Kasavanov.. Result: Kasavanov by unanimous decision

Co-Main Event

Heavyweight Division: Jestem Trzezwy vs Clarence Adams

Adams used his boxing to win the first round despite a late takedown from Trzezwy. Jestem returned fire in the second round with takedowns and ground control. In the third, he got another early takedown, this time into full mount. He used the leverage to land a big shot and a few followups that had the ref jumping in. Result: Trzezwy by 3rd round TKO (Strikes)

Main Event

HERO Welterweight Championship: Rauta Naama vs Loki Lazerous

This one didn't take long. Naama got an early takedown and immediately went for an arm triangle. When it didn't work, he started working away on the kimura. Lazerous defended well for a while, but in the end, couldn't avoid Naama's BJJ. Result: Naama by 1st round submission (Kimura)

Post Fight Press Conference

AJ Nex congratulated Naama on a successful defense. He also announced that Jestem Trzezwy's victory over Clarence Adams had earned him a shot at the heavyweight crown.

When asked about the Hall-Kopper doctor's stoppage, Nex said he disgusted that such a great fight needed to be cut short. He promised that Ken Hall and Ludo Kopper would have a chance to settle their grudge inside the cage.

The night's bonuses were announced at the end of the press conference:

KO of the Night: Jaarko Hahlund

Sub of the Night: Taisto Rahapussi

Fight of the Night: Jestem Trzezwy vs Clarence Adams

This Wednesday at HERO XXX, Trzezwy will find out who the champ will be when he gets his title shot, as Tobias Larsson takes on Boyko Borisov. Then, on Saturday, Hall of Famer Manny Pacquiao is back in the cage, defending his bantamweight crown against Joonas Mustonen.
