Devon Sage eager for title re-match

Interviewer: Thanks for joining us, Devon. How are you feeling ahead of your upcoming fight?

Devon Sage: I'm feeling great. I've been training hard and I'm ready to put on a show.

Interviewer: You're coming off a big win against Shi Woo Lee at HFC 35. How did that feel?

Devon Sage: It was an amazing feeling. I've been working hard in the gym for a long time, and happy to say that work paid off.

Interviewer: There was a bit of controversy surrounding you losing your title to Rickson Caceres a few months back via judges decision and not being awarded an immediate rematch. Can you tell us about that?

Devon Sage: Yeah, you know I wasn’t at my best that night and could prevent him from taking me down. Normally that would not be a huge deal as I am very comfortable fighting off my back. Rickson is also a great ground fighter though. It was a tough way to lose the title. I'm disappointed I haven’t been offered a rematch for sure. I think I deserve the opportunity to prove that I'm still the best in the division.

Interviewer: Speaking of the rematch, when can we expect to see that fight?

Devon Sage: I am not sure. I have a fight scheduled against Ernesto Romero in the next few days. I am confident I will win that fight and then we will have to start working on the details with HFC management. I'm hoping a win against Romero will make me next in line. I'm ready for it.

Interviewer: Your fans have been vocal about their displeasure that Rickson defended against Ernesto Romero, Maksim Taranin and very soon Dave Thompson before giving you a re-match.

Devon Sage: Well you its frustrating for sure because our title fight went to decision and my fans know it wasn’t my best performance. If you take at look at all those guys records, I hold a win over each of them and not one has beaten me so its frustrating that they somehow jumped ahead of me for a title shot. Rickson knows those are all easier fights though and that its going to be a long night when he gets back in that cage with me.

Interviewer: What's next for Devon Sage after the Ernesto Romero fight?

Devon Sage: Right now, I'm just focused on Ernesto Romero. Once I win that fight then I would hope I’ll be given my shot at regaining my title. So hopefully the winner of Caceres and Thompson. If not then I think we would have to start looking at how much of a future there is for me in the HFC because I have pretty much cleaned out the rest of the division.

Interviewer: Well best of luck in your fight against Ernesto Romero and hopefully we will see you fighting for the HFC 145lbs title very soon.
