Tanyev warns Kahn after sharing sparring stories, Kahn responds with Combate challenge.
Valentin Taneyev (32-15-1) is ready to teach Mohammed Kahn (31-9-1) a lesson next time they train together.
Speaking to Miss Miracle and the Tycoon Times, Kahn spoke about past sparring sessions with the Combate light heavyweight champion when they were amateurs. Kahn claimed that he won a lot of rounds against Taneyev, submitted the former champ “many times,” and “beat him many times.” On Thursday, Taneyev responded on his Instagram stories.
“Which person needs to speak, again and again, about this 16-year-old information? Gym insider information,” Taneyev said. “When we will meet next time in a cage, I will show you my true power. I will not take it lightly no more. Don’t speak about others too much. Hate yourself less. You will sleep soon.”
Later on, Kahn responded on his own IG stories, showing a screenshot of messages he sent to Kahn challenging him to a fight — tagging the Darren Russel and Combate as well.
“See you soon boy,” Kahn stated. “Respect for taking the fight when you had every excuse not to. Doctor stoppages can't save you this time.”
Taneyev first won the Combate light heavyweight title at Combate 147 when he defeated Kahn via TKO (cut) ahead in the third round. Taneyev enters the rematch after coming up short in a Fight of the Year candidate against SYN's Light Heavyweight champion Randy Randleman.
Kahn’s most recent appearance took place at Combate 174 when he TKO'd Larry Willians — a fight that came together on short notice after camps disagreed if the fight round be 3 or 5 rounds. Ultimately both came to terms much to the fans appreciation.
Taneyev is ready to redeem himself after his last outing and deems Kahn the "the perfect punching bag" to get back into the win column. "He's a shell of himself. I will break him."
