The King of Sting

Fighter profile of Vernon Creed by Chris Karter

THE KING OF STING

Vernon Creed (12-4-0) is one of Convicted Top Team's finest Light Heavyweight fighters hailing from Los Angeles, California. A Light Heavyweight contender signed to Sucker Punch Pro Series, before turning pro in MMA he racked up over 100 fights as an amateur boxer.

Creed is riding a 3 fight win streak under the Sucker Punch Pro Series banner with his most recent victory being one of his biggest, a revenge fight against top Light Heavyweight contender Willy Mataitai who to this day is the only man to knock Vernon Creed out cold back at SPPS 223. It would be Creed who would have his hand raised in the rematch though, dispatching Willy in 26 seconds of the first round by way of strikes. Dancing around his downed opponent in style after he hit him with a three piece and a complimentary soda.

Since making his MMA debut, Vernon's made a name for himself inside the MMA cage as a flashy striker who showboats often in between his punches and kicks.

"It took me a while, but I got used to it." Creed states when asked about the transitioning from boxing to MMA and implementing kicks into his gameplan. "You gotta learn to kick before you learn to brawl, baby."

With 12 wins and 4 losses, Vernon is slowly creeping into Light Heavyweight contention. 11 of his 12 wins have came by way of knockout. He always fights for a finish, sometimes leaving himself open to his opponents. He often puts himself in harms way just to entertain the fights with his razzle and dazzle, dancing in and out of distance, shuffling his feet, winding up his arm as he loads up his punches, Vernon Creed is a true entertainer.

"Emmanuel Augustus. Mohammed Ali. Don Marciano." Creed lists his heroes in combat sports. "These are some fighters I idolized from an early age. You gotta entertain the fans man. The fans write your check at the end of the day."

One interesting fact about Vernon is that he has never lost to a J. He's undefeated against the J's. There's a long list of J's that he has easily defeated: Juju Baraka, Julio Cruzerio, John Bessant, Jason Dawkins, Jan Skrzetuski, Jedi Rebel, Jason Smith.

If you are fortunate enough to watch him compete, you are in for a treat. Behold The Dancing Destroyer, The Master of Disaster, The Count of Monte Fisto, The Prince of Punch, The King of Sting, the one and only Vernon Creed ladies and gentlemen!
