BFFL 29 Preview

Event Preview: BFFL29
Bloody Fist Fight League (xXx)
2011-12-03, London, The Underground - London
Author:Kurt Hustle

On the 3rd of December Bloody Fist Fight League will be holding its 29th event at the 1000 seat Underground arena in London and with not one but two titles on the line this one is shaping up to be a huge event so lets just jump right in to the action shall we.

Killian "The Molotov Cocktail" Gallagher (16-11-0) vs. Raphael "The Architect" Monet (1-2-0)

The main card action will be kicking off at Heavyweight with two BFFL debut fighters. These two are very evenly matches in all aspects of the fight game, both have equally impressive Boxing and Wrestling and sport Brown belts in BJJ but Monet has slightly better Muay Thai, although the advantage is only minor, so this one is looking like it may well come down to experience and game plan. Gallagher has seen a lot more action in his extra 7 years which may serve him well against his younger opponent although with the younger fighters of today you never know what they are capable of doing! Monet does come in off the back of two straight losses so will be looking to impress and begin to build a respectable record while Gallagher comes off a big win to try and get himself into the mix of the division’s title so there is a lot to fight for here and this one could be a sleeper for fight of the night if both guys use what they have to full effect.

Maimuta "Boxierul" Prunea (7-10-0) vs. Jared "Countdown" Walken (6-2-0)

This one is a Middleweight bout featuring another two fighters who are on paper very evenly matched and its had to see where the win will come from. Prunea is entering the cage with two wins in his last two fights, but despite that he seems to have very low moral at the moment, while Walken is also coming in off the back of a win which seems to have him much more upbeat. Walken also may well be looking to use his Wrestling to control the fight as much as possible although his opponent has ended his last two fights with a submission so Walken may have to be careful of those should he take the fight down. It looks very much like this one will go to the Judges so in my opinion its going to be down to who can do the most in each round to score points, but I have called fights very wrong in the past so watch this space for me to eat humble pie maybe.

"The Smashing Machine" Lyndon Jones (6-1-0) (champ) vs. Mango "Tank" McAbbot (1-1-0)

This one is for the Super Heavyweight title and should be an exciting battle! Jones comes in as champ looking to make a first defense of his title and he hasn’t earned the nickname ‘The Smashing Machine’ for nothing, he has (T)KO’ed his last six opponents in a row finishing four of them inside Round 1 and he will be looking to add a seventh victim here too. McAbbot has better Wrestling and he really must put that to some good use if he is to take the title he wants so badly, on the feet he has little chance against the champion given his fight history but on the ground he will be able to avoid those devastating strikes and with both fighters having a Blue belt at BJJ it’s an even match up. Hard to see a title changing hands here but in the cage nothing is for sure until the fight is over.

Terry Bull (22-19-0) vs. Andre "Pit" Mullard (8-5-0)

We have a Heavyweight contenders fight as the Co-Main Event of the night. Bull is one of the most experienced fighters in the game and you may well recognize his manager as its none other then Mike Tycoon, that’s right the boss himself. On the feet Bull has an advantage with slight better Boxing and much better Muay Thai but he is out matched on the ground by Mullard who sports better Wrestling and a superior BJJ Belt (Purple vs. Brown) so this one will likely depend on where the fight takes place. With this being a contenders fight that adds more pressure to the occasion also and that may well tell on the less experienced Mullard although both have had two failed title fights in the past so they know the pressure they bring, although since they have both lost them they may well be a little bit like origami (fold under pressure). Going to be interesting for sure this fight and a great lead in to the Main Event…

Main Event: Chwytny Vlad (17-7-0) (Champ) vs. "The Thai Guy" Big Mel Manhoef (8-1-0)

Main Event of the night is for the Heavyweight Title and should be a cracker! Both fighters have won their last five fights in a row. Vlad will likely be looking to add to his extensive submission record, finishing fourteen of his seventeen wins on the ground while Manhoef will look to utilize his Muay Thai which he has been able to use to dominate fights in the past. The problem for the champ Vlad may be getting this fight to the ground, he has an advantage there (Brown belt vs. Purple belt) and has shown he has the skills to finish fights but he is the inferior Wrestler coming into the fight and that’s how you get the fight down to the ground. Manhoef will likely be looking to clinch to get full use of his Muay Thai but that carries the risk of his opponent pulling guard on him so he has to be wary of that danger making this fight all the more exciting for the fans. Vlad is by far the more experienced of the two, both in terms of age and fight experience which will serve him well, he has held belts in 3 different Orgs made a lot of defenses of those belts while this will be only Manhoef’s second time in a title fight and he lost the first so that may play on his mind a little coming in to the cage but once the bell rings and the fight starts I’m sure he will be 100% focused on that belt but there is always the pressure of that first title win to take into account while this is old news for Vlad by now and he has shown in the past that there is a lot of fight left in this old dog yet!
